Great food and great service !

Prompt and friendly service. Extensive menu. Very good food. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

Delighted to be back at the Magpie Cafe. Food is just as wonderful as I remember it with a full menu. Best restaurant in the area. The take away fish & chips is good too.

Came for a meal with my mum and dad at lunch, we chose the meze which was amazing. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but we weren’t pressured or hounded. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food which was delicious. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to return for my next meal. Thank you

Very basic for the price, nice setting but this as really gone down hill since it first opened. The bay is lovely and deserves a better local.

This is the first time we’ve been able to get back after our wedding party pre COVID. It did not disappoint and so pleased you are now open on a Saturday. Amazing food and stunning surroundings. Can’t wait to be back again!!

We both had cod and chips. The cod was beautiful , white flaky and skinned with a lovely crisp batter. The chips were crisp and plentiful. Despite only having regular portions we were sadly too full to manage a dessert. Service was excellent but not hurried.

After waiting a VERY long time during lockdowns I ,and members of my family had a most enjoyable meal on Thursday It was a pleasure to get back to this excellent restaurant. Food just as good as always !

As always, this is one of the highlights of our visit to Whitby. The food is excellent and the staff pleasant and helpful, we cannot fault it. In fact we visited twice during our 3 day visit, so that we could have haddock and chips as well as trying one of the speciality dishes!

Absolutely delicious. It really did not disappoint. The fish and chips were the best we’ve had and the grilled salmon salad and chips with pickled onion chutney side was exceptional. The wine was amazing and the special scallops starter was 10/10. Exceeded expectations and would certainly recommend. The staff were also very friendly. The atmosphere was basic but relaxed.

I discovered this authentic Chinese restaurant and will be returning every time I am in York. Having traveled to Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong many times, the dim sum dishes were excellent.

The Magpie remains one of the best fish restaurants we've ever visited at home or abroad. It's a shame in a way that it is seen mainly as a fish and chip restaurant although they are excellent. The choice of seafood and fish is just outstanding and at a very good price. The presentation of the courses is superb and what one would expect from a first class restaurant. It styles itself as a cafe so don't expect crisp, white tablecloths and silver cutlery but this does nothing to detract from the fabulous fish and seafood on offer. We live near Leeds and only wish it was on our doorstep!
