Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonIf your driving, walking or canal boating through East Marton you must make some time for a meal and a pint at The Cross Keys pub. A very warm welcome will greet you from the Landlord his staff team and the locals too. We have just had a couple of weeks on a canal boat and discovered the Cross keys and had a fantastic time. The menu is brilliant, we went in for Sunday lunch and i would fully recommend the Lamb followed by the home made rice pudding with rhubarb compote. The belly of pork is outstanding along with the sticky toffee pudding, great service and fairly priced. All the food is resourced locally and all the puddings are homemade the best pub grub i think i have ever had. Quiz night on a Monday night is good fun too only a pound per person with a light supper thrown in great value for an entertaining night. WE would recommend the Cross Keys without a doubt and will be returning on our next holiday.

Cross Keys – SkiptonI went to the Punjab on Thursday 28th July after a night out with a friend. The Massala fish starter was sensational both in terms of quality and the size of the portion, I also had the fish curry as a main with Pilau peas rice, both of which were also excellent. My companion was a vegetarian and I have to be honest, I don't know what he ordered; I do know that he raved about it afterwards. The Punjab looks like an upmarket 'formica' curry house but the quality of food is way beyond that. My favourite Asian restaurants include the Aagrah chain, Akhbars and Mumtaz and I can tell you that the Punjab can hold its own with any of these. The menu may not be as extensive and the decor (while not scruffy) may not be impressive but the food is first class. As a 'sweetener' the famous 'Fighting Cock' real ale pub is a short walk away Why not round off a night of excellent real ale with an excellent curry?
Punjab Sweet House and Chargrill Centre – Bradfordnice atmosphere, clean and tidy, smart staff. parking difficult nearby. starters were a bit bland and small. mains are average good deal on Thursdays & Sundays (happy nights!) for £9 check bill carefully before paying - ours came to £16.80 more than it should - someone else's drinks.
Raaj of India – Holmfirthwarm welcome, and excellent food although the service tended to be a little slow at times. Reasonable prices. 8/10
Red Chilli II – WakefieldWe went for dinner here while staying in a holiday cottage nearby. I was very much looking forward to our visit as I had heard of this Inn and was aware that it had been awarded a Michelin Star. First impressions were very good, we had a drink in the main bar and were brought an amuse bouche while we looked through the menu. The draft beer in the bar got the thumbs up as did the friendly service. We were taken through to the main restaurant part of the Inn and shown to a luxuriously large table, set with a vast array of cutlery. The decor in the restaurant was not as charming as the more rustic bar, it was, to me, a bit cruise liner, but what really let the dining room down was that it was not clean. There were food stains (looked like old mashed potato) on the fabric dividing panels which had clearly been there a while! The bathroom was nice but the basket for the hand towels was almost empty and therefore clearly full of dust. Minor things, but I expected so much better. Also there was only one ladies loo, and for the number of covers this seemed insufficient. The food was the main point though, and everything we had was very nice, but not earth shattering. The menu didn't offer any surprises, but if you're looking for posh pub grub then this is spot on. The table service was good and we were made very welcome, but overall, we probably won't make a repeat visit.
Star Inn – YorkI love this restaurant! The location and setting is really unexpected and very lovely. We first went on New Year's Eve, and made a last minute table reservation. We had a special set menu which included some really exciting things I would probably not have thought to order off a menu, such as chicken wrapped in banana leaves and fried (amazing!). On other visits since, we have never been disappointed, the food is always delicious and beautiful, the service excellent and the price reasonable. We may well go back again this new year!
Sangthai Restaurant – YorkWe went in this restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon as soon as it opened at 5pm. We received excellent service throughout, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, and the prices very reasonable. The food was the real star though, we had a main course from the barbecue/grill and a traditional main course, as well as mixed meze starters, and everything that came was delicious and very good quality. I would order everything we chose again, but would really like to work my way through the entire menu! We will definitely be going again!
Kapadokya – YorkWe went for a pre-theatre meal here, and got a table for 5.30, with a promise we'd be done in time for the 7.30 show at the next-door WYPlayhouse. I was hugely impressed by everything about this restaurant. There was a small crowd waiting for the doors to open, and everyone had pre-booked (which I would recommend as it certainly seems popular). The friendly and efficient staff checked every party off the booking list and got them seated, given drinks and so on very quickly without ever giving an impression of hurrying anyone. Although almost every table was full, the well organised staff kept everything ticking along unobtrusively and the whole place had a nice, friendly, buzzy atmosphere. The fixed price menu was good value, though after our meal we decided that for the quality and the quantity the full main menu is not overpriced at all. The food is some of the best we have eaten in the UK, not fussy and over presented, but good honest rustic French cuisine with generous portions and tastes out of this world. Another nice touch was the fresh french bread - when we had eaten all our first basket we were given another at no additional cost, as with the carafe of iced water. This is a 10 out of 10 restaurant on every count, we will definitely be going again!
Kendells Bistro – Leeds City CentreThis hotel was a brilliant find! Our room (Napoli suite)was wonderful, beautifully equipped with great lighting features and a superb bed! David is a fantastic host whose wine knowledge made our meals memorable. Food fantastic and so beautifully presented. The hotel is quiet and efficient, like staying in a country house. I wish we didn't live so far away or we would be there more often.
Frenchgate Restaurant and Hotel – RichmondExcellent. Value for money. Good varied menu. Beer battered fish to die for . No booking a minor inconvenience but 20min wait is worth it.
The Mayflower – DoncasterConsistently good sometimes superb. Fresh takes time! Can be overstretched. It's usually well worth a wait.
Zaras Restaurant – DoncasterBeen to quiet a few of Italian restaurants in west Yorkshire recently and this is the best. The food was fantastic and we didn't have to wait long.Lovely atmosphere, great keyboard player playing background music and the staff were so nice and efficient. We visited because we bought a voucher from pulse radio offering a £40 meal for £20, but we will now definitely visit again.
