Raaj of India – HolmfirthI recently ate with my family at your restaurant (Damons) in Sheffield. I am writing to say how very disappointed I was. Before I tell you of my awful experience, I would like to say that the staff were very pleasant, efficient and that the service on their part was exceptional. Not the same case unfortunately for company hierarchy and food quality standards. I was disgusted and quite honestly, insulted, that I was served my food on a plastic plate! This would have been acceptable had I been 40,000ft in the air on a jumbo jet where weight makes all the difference but in a restaurant, unbelievable! Although I was quite pleasantly surprised I had cutlery made from metal. Bonus! I am unhappy with the way the restaurant is advertised and priced, as a "fine dining restaurant". This is wholly untrue and a gross case of false advertisement. Never before in any restaurant anywhere in the 17 countries I have travelled too, have I ever been served "smash" (fake mashed potato) = unacceptable. You also claim to give "generous portions", would you consider 11 chips with my mother's steak generous? Id like to inform you that I have had more "generous" portions of chips in third world countries like Uzbekistan, Somalia and Malawi. My whole family were very unhappy with their meals. The manager didn't have anything to say in defence for the smash and food quality, as he pointed out he could only make best of the situation that he has been selfishly put in. He didnâ??t try to make excuses for the rubbish that was placed before us; he was very honest and accommodating and did all he could. The gentleman is a credit to your company. He gave us a 20% discount which was all he could do at the time. Overall despite the discount and the fact that it is barely over an hour's time in wages for me, I still feel cheated that I had to pay a £73 food bill. (after 20% compensation) I am completely disgusted with our very unpleasant "dining experience" at your restaurant A very unsatisfied customer
Damons – SheffieldVisited this lovely Turkish restaurant on Friday evening, the owner saw me looking at the menu outside and welcomed us in. We had the mixed mezeler starter, more than enough for two people, followed by my favourite Imam Bayildi (fainting priest) everything was delicious The owner came and chatted with us, and after the meal so did the chef, sharing tips with me on how best to prepare Imam Bayildi The restaurant is unlicensed so BYO, we will be back soon
Ephesus Turkish Restaurant – HorsforthThis by far is one of the BEST Italian restaurants I have been to. My wife and I have been going to Gigis since it opened, and was a regular customer of another Italian restaurant they used to own before they sold it and started Gigis. Service: This by far is totally exceptional, all the staff there go above, way and beyond what would usually be expected. Even at peak times, service is warm, friendly and efficient Food: Been an ex-chef, I like things to be almost perfect, and I’ve got to say it is definitely perfect. The food is bustling in flavour, wide in variety, and plentiful in their portions. From a personal choice, I can recommend the Tomato Garlic Bread, Meatballs Starter, Mozzarella in Carrozo starter. Sirloin Steak Pizzola, any of the pizzas and penne Vesuvio is are among my favourite mains. Lasagne is really tasty as are the rest of the dishes. If you try this restaurant, I can 99% guarantee you will NOT be disappointed, the other 1% accounts for you can’t please everyone, and even the 1% that isn’t happy, the staff will do there best to accommodate you. Booking is advisable especially at weekends!!!
Gigis – Pudseyvisited this cafe on spur and found a true gem in the Leeds crown. situated in Victoira Quarter out side the main store of Harvey Nichols and covered by an amazing stained glass roof giving the impression of a modern cathedral, after a short wait we were greeted at the entrance by a manager and made to feel welcome then seated at a side table to browse the menu then a waitress came over and continued to delight with her knowledge of the products on offer. This cafe/ restaurant gives a truly great service and product. we chose a main from the savoury menu with a new "fashion cocktail" the Dazzling Dior ! we will defo be going back and taking friends with us. Ideal for the family or the Ladies who lunch!
Harvey Nichols Espresso Bar – Leeds City CentreI Hadn't visited this place for a long time, in fact i think the last time i did it was trying to be a night club!, anyway the place is very much a more relaxed place to be than it once was these days!, and the food was excellent quality with the staff very polite, the waitress did get my bill mixed up initially but the problem was rectified with no major fuss.Great Ales, Stella on tap, and a generally nice place to be, would like to see the kids playground 're-appear' however as we do have kids to entertain as sure this place is nice in the summer months by the stream.
Old Mill, The – BrighouseWe visited Holly Hill Inn on a recent overnight stay in Richmond. The staff were friendly, the food excellent and it also offered a choice of real ale and selection of single malts to finish off the meal perfectly. We also had wine with the meal which was reasonably priced. Can heartily recommend the duck starter and pie main course both of which were excellent cooked.
Holly Hill – RichmondCame across The Old Canteen by chance whilst house-hunting in the area. A real find! The ambience was excellent, the staff friendly and efficient and although we only had time for coffee (free refills available), the food looked excellent and the menu was varied and interesting. The Market Place is an inspired addition, great for unexpected finds. Highly recommended.
The Old Canteen – HuddersfieldAnyone who still believes British cuisine is dull should try Herriot's. Situated in the centre of Hawes, Glenn and Liz use top local produce to show off their great talents. And as its a four star guest house the breakfasts extend the eating pleasure to the mornings. Well worth a visit, or two.
Herriot’s – RichmondWe had a great meal at Tassili on 16/9/11. We found the food excellent and the service even better. We would second everything in Judith and Ozzie reviews.
Tassili – YorkI have been to the Wheatsheaf twice now and am booking to go back again in a few weeks. Amazing food, huge portions and great prices. I have recommended this pub to so many people - definitely a hidden gem.
Wheatsheaf Inn – CleckheatonAn absolute surprise!we heard it had been taken over,we walked in on a Thursday night it was packed and we soon realised why,the food was fab we were stuffed! We stayed for the quiz very popular just wish we had saved room for the pie and peas, that were free by the way....Will be going to this pub lots in future what a lovely atmosphere.keep it up Bottomleys Arms
The Bottomleys Arms – HalifaxWe travel from Lincolnshire to eat at this lovely restaurant every month. It is well worth the fuel and the time, such a great experience!! We will be coming again in October; Prashad is the only place we have ever travelled this far to eat at
Prashad – BradfordOrdinarily I avoid eating Chinese takeaway food. I was introduced to the Royal Eastern a number of years ago and although it is a 20 minute drive for me I regularly order food from there. It's definitely restaurant quality food (same kitchen as the acclaimed Royal Eastern restaurant) and I can't recommend it highly enough. Delicious fresh ingredients with an extensive vegetarian offering,
Royal Eastern – BradfordThe food at San Carlo never disappoints! The meal I had with my wife last weekend was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch!
San Carlo – Leeds City CentreComing over to UK end October, and definitely be coming to Wheatsheaf more than once on my visit. Could not miss the chance of eating such fantastic food. It would be worth the trip just to eat there.
