Carl, Sarah And Our Two Girls

Been going for years as we live in Swinton, last time was a few months ago and it was great as always. Went today (Sept 2012) and it was appalling. Stale popadoms, day old salad, not fried but napalmed starters, decent main but then they brought the wrong drinks out...twice. It's REALLY changed there and definitely not for the better. Should have guessed as it was empty at 7.30 on a Sunday evening. Never again, gutted!

Have just had lunch at the Rivington Pub and Grill formerly The Ridgeway Arms. What an improvement!! The decor has been tastefully done and to match the menu is excellent, with a number of choices. We both had fish in beer batter and it was delicious, as were the chips. The Staff were pleasant and efficient and we have already said we will return.

its great that they are using good quality local produce but the chefs need to learn how to cook it properly. from over cooked steaks to over heavy sauces & venison so overdone it tasted like badly done liver but if you stick to pizzas they are very good.

Actual shit. Ordered a madras sauce and received some creamy horrible curry sauce. Rang up to try and change it, tell them they had done the order wrong, was refused a refund, and was refused a new correct curry. Now have chapattis and chips with no curry to eat it with. Waste of time and money and now I'm hungry!

Cha Cha’s – Levenshulme

Low prices but very high standards for everything else, especially the food. Try something that sounds unusual. You will be pleasantly surprised every time. One warning: Beware of the Persian ice cream and the homemade cake as they are most addictive part of the menu.

PLEASE READ THIS THEN AVOIDMy partner and I became very ill with food poisoning after ordering from here, after a day of constant diarrhoea and vomiting I contacted the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. I was then put on to someone who I've now found out not to be the manager but actually one of the chefs. She was incredibly rude and sarcastic (even laughing) and after a lot of awkward silences told me that that "she didn't have anything to say" and when I told her I would be contacting the local environmental office she told me to "go do that". My partner then called back and asked to be put in touch with the owner of these four restaurants; we've now had a call back from him today in which I got told how he's run the business for 17 years and how both he and his pregnant wife eat from there and how large their customer base is...totally irrelevant in this situation. After making my point again about how rudely we were spoken to and how ordering from there had meant that we both had a totally ruined next day as well as wasting £25, I was told that the absolute most he could do is offer us a 50 discount off our next order as a "goodwill gesture"- A TOTAL INSULT. Any 'goodwill' is clearly insincere. This is much more fitting for a late delivery or missing items than being made very ill. As if we would ever again eat from somewhere we got so ill off and give money to such a business.

Worst coffee shop i have visited in my life the staff are unintelligible and have difficulty with the english language, the food is overpriced, the enviroment is clean though which is a positive sign on a regular basis ....and you can only get things on toast but not actually cooked which is frankly bizarre for a cafe.... and the pdq it seems dislikes certain people... go there but remember to take a Lithuanian phrase book .... although its still better that the indian takeaway next door eh?

We visited the restaurant for the first time last night and cannot praise it highly enough, the food was second to none as were the staff, the decor is lovely, we have no complaints whatsoever except that we did not have enough room to have one of their sweets! We have booked to go for Sunday lunch tomorrow and would highly recommend you try the restaurant soon.

Tonight we ventured out to the Eagle & Child for our first bar meal there. We both chose the 8oz Lancashire cheese burger and were not disappointed. This came with huge fresh battered onion rings, fries and an excellent salad and relish. The burger was moist and had great flavour. Really looking forward to trying other bar meal fare (black pudding scotch egg!) and definitely looking forward to trying out the restaurant menu.

went today for a change and because we had rememberd it was quite a good pub, we went in and initially liked the greeting and we were told there was a specials board. i glanced at it and although had initially gone for a sandwich decided to try the lancashire hotpot which i often enjoy living in lancashire. it was priced at 9pounds and i thought it must be good at that price:) what arrived was a dismal slop with a crust on top and i instantly regreted my order. thinking it may taste better i lifted the crust off and discoverd a layer or mince beef and what looked like the left over potatoes from yesterday. As a lancashire hotpot is made with lamb i looked at the board and noitced a mince meat and potato pie so i assumed i had been given the wrong order. The waitress informed me that that was not the case and the chef had just made it with beef. i said that means it isnt a lancashire hotpot, she said she would correct the menu board and walked off. I explained to her that i had ordered a lancashire hotpot and expected to receive that. I had to ask for a change of meal which she was reluctant to do and i decided on the piripiri chicken on a bun. she told me that it may be very spicy in a sarcastic manner and that pirpiri chicken means different things at different places. I said i knew what piripiri chicken was and she slopped off. What arrived as my replacement meal was as bad as the first. A frozen style chicken breat that you may get from tesco, heated up and sat on a bun..this was 7pounds. The experirnce was dreadful, i went in a good mood and left deflated, ripped off and although i dont usually write reviews was compelled to do so.

Sadly I had to attend a funeral wake at the Cheshire Line but the staff and the service made everything so much more easier for me. I had to arrive later than the other members of the party because I was working that day. The landlord put me at easy straight away and directed me to the other mouners. It is always a bit daunting walking in to pub as a female on her own and espexcially on a sad occasion but I felt the warm welcome as soon as I walked through the door.

Scott's Hill Restaurant in Chorlton is a breath of fresh air! Complimentary olives with the Champagne, mussels, sea bass and an elegant Sancerre - fresh local produce served in the first floor restaurant by friendly efficient staff. No minuses for this one - go and experience very good food at reasonable prices. We'll be back!
