We thought we already knew which our favourite Italian restaurant was, but eating at San Marino's changed all that! Faultless service, food, surroundings and amazing prices. Extensive menu, so much so that we have already chosen our meals for our return visit. Highly recommended!

Tried Mezzaluna last week as was recommended by friends, first impression was nice modern decor, and food was excellent, good size portions with reasonable prices, attentive service. Although there are just a couple of small points that don't match the quality of the food and decor, I do agree with the below reader re the white paper napkins? nice concept with an open kitchen but the chefs didn't look very smart, and i noticed one waiter wore a navy tshirt with a black shirt?~ Perhaps that's just me being too observant!

Finally got round to eating at La Salsa after months of driving by & making mental notes to try it. It was definitely worth waiting for!! The menu is extensive & every dish we tried was gorgeous; very fresh & authentic - a major difference from the chain down the round. Service was great; the staff were there as soon as needed but not intrusive. At £8.50 for as many tapas as you like it's worth every penny (& probably more!!). Drinks - Sangria & pints of Cruz Campo - added to the bill, but certainly not excessively. Bolton town centre is short of good, independent restaurants - particularly that don't serve Italian! - & La Salsa is just what the town needs!! Will DEFINITELY eat there again & will recommend.

We went to ambiente on a Thursday evening for the first time. It was not to busy and had a choice of the three different rooms to dine in- the terrace, the bar or the seating area- in which we ate. We ordered tapas for starter, the Paella de Ambient for main and a bottle of the Spanish house red. The food was very good, our tapas of seared scallops and Moroccan lamb was delicious. Our paella was bursting with flavour and full of meat and fish. My only slight disappointment was that the paella was slightly over cooked, the calamari was too dry and some of the paella had burnt at the bottom of the pan. The restaurant is well decorated and feels like an authentic Spanish restaurant- the loo's are worth a visit just for the deco. The staff and service was pleasant and friendly. A great dining experience!! I would go again and would recommend this to friends.

My first impression was how pleasant the surroundings are, lovely, bright & clean with a very warm welcome from Mr Khan and his staff. The menu is extremely inviting and details a host of well known dishes along with a variety of specials. If you are new to Indian food just give this place a try without hesitation, Mr Khan will recommend dishes for the new taste buds, alternatively, if you go on a Sunday they provide a buffet style option where you can try a number of dishes from a help yourself table which is a great introduction to Indian food. The chef here is just fantastic, everything is beautifully cooked and presented and nothing is too much trouble for the staff here. All in all a 10/10 from me and we will be back on Saturday to introduce some friends to the place. Mr Khan is a lovely person and most hospitable and he enjoys a chat with his customers. Never found a better place to eat Indian food since this place. Try it a see for yourself

We visited this restaurant last week for the first time. It took about 40 mins to drive there and boy was it worth it. Homemade oxtail soup for starters was to die for. We had the mixed grill between 2 of us (there would have been enough to feed 4) everything was perfect. Could not be faulted. Yes we did have to wait a while between courses, but that was pointed out on the menu and the wait was worth it. If we wanted fast food or were born without taste buds we'd have gone to Macdonalds.

The all-vegetarian menu is small-ish with a broadly Eastern slant. Nothing too inspiring, but prepare to be pleasantly surprised: the chef has a know-how with herbs and spices you'd normally associate with somewhere far more pretentious and French. Every dish has at least three more interesting flavours than you were expecting. I had the famous bangers & mash, and it was outstanding in all areas. The downside was that it was, ultimately, bangers & mash: like most of the menu, it was unseasonal for summer and clearly inspired by meatier cuisine, and I tend to think vegetarian cooking is at its best when it dares to be different. I have dined in Gaucho Grillo n several occasions and I have to say it's always hit and miss. My partner and I went on Saturday night and after our experience, shall not be returning any time soon. Having already made the decision to book a later table (whenever we have eaten between the times of 7.45 and 9.15 it's been awful) we were annoyed to have to wait nearly an hour longer to be sat (no apology was given - I believe that the mismanagement of the reception resulted in them having forgotten us) When we eventually sat the service was 'ok'. The wine recommendation did not come naturally, however the one we eventually chose was delicious (not topped up once by our waiter however). The starter of Carpaccio was absolutely delicious, the steak we had for main were awful! Tough and flavourless, I found it hard to believe they had been marinaded for 24hrs! Needless to say that after this, we did not feel in the mood for dessert nor coffee. We asked for the bill and got charged £115 for the experience!! I have to say I am upset as when you have a good experience in Gaucho, you have a bloody good time and don't mind paying at all! Unfortunately though, we shan't be returning!

Last night I dined alone at the Manchester Branch of this Argentinean steak house. After being seated and having to wait over 10 minutes for the sommelier to arrive, stinking of cigarettes, I sat back and waited for my meal to arrive. As a lover of meat, I had a waitress trying to tell me I should have my steak cooked on the side of well done. My over salted fillet arrived with a limp salad, soggy and tasteless chips and an overpowering sauce. With the manageress was unable to offer any type of service recovery, and I left £106 lighter and with half my meal still on the table. If you truly love your meat, think again. Go somewhere else!

Don't complain, or you will be thrown out. We went to the restaurant on Wednesday 6th August after reading positive reviews on sugarvine.com. We arrived to a sign saying "Chef Andrew Nutter". We ordered the 6 course gourmet menu at £36 per head. The first dish was a rather bland cauliflower soup with bacon bits. This was followed by two dishes of fish with rice, the first warm haddock and cold rice and the second an over complicated salmon with tomato risotto. Neither dish was nice and the size of portions between dishes varied greatly. After approximately 30 mintues, the 4th dish of steak of a potato rosti and red cabbage was served. Mine was rare, whereas my partners was well done. Dont know about the rest, as we complained about the food - in a polite manner and were thrown out by Mr Rodney Nutter in an aggressive manner after paying the bill. If you are thinking about going to this restaurant, think twice. Apparently the main menu is much better - don' order the gourmet menu under any circumstances. The peacock room at the crimble restaurant around the corner is far superior.

went there on sat 2nd aug 08 on a family party for my brother who's been to the restaurant before and after my first visit i will be going again for sure couldn't fault anything. for anybody who's not been what are you waiting for get on down there you don't know what your missing

Wonderful service and the food is delicious! The best Indian place to eat in Bolton and we have tired many! We will definitely be returning here - Chicken pakora is to die for :-)

Four of us went to La Salsa and chose 4 to 5 tapas each but then shared them so we sampled 16 to 20 of the 36 on offer for "eat as much as you can for £8.50" (Sunday to Thursday, Friday and Saturday slightly dearer). The food was excellent, really tasty, and we could not possibly have got through all 36, even after starving all day in preparation. The bland exterior may put people off but the food on the plate is the main criterion for a restaurant and La Salsa excelled. Definitely will return.

My wife and I went to try the Beijing Taster menu. It was a brilliant dining experience as we learnt about the regional food and the pairing of the wines. Each course was delicious and the service was outstanding. I will be returning with more friends and also booking for Christmas at Sweet Mandarin. Thank you for a wonderful night out.

We have eaten in many of the best restaurants all over the country and even some worldwide. We challenge anyone to find better food and better service than that found in the spice lounge. Our favourite meal is chicken akabari which we have madras strength.
