I think if you know me well, you know I'm fussy and have the highest standards when it comes to good food. After having eaten at some next level, high calibre restaurants and having been lucky enough to to have been cooked some amazing, top quality chef standard foods at home over the years by trained chefs, I know the difference between a top meal and standard restaurant food. Lately I've had a lot of standard and less than standard food. Tonight was literally best tasting food we've eaten in a long time, so much so we didn't even get a photo of starters, looked so good. I'd strongly recommend this place. This is the remnents of scallops with black pudding, chicken crackling with pea puree and salt and pepper ribs with pickled slaw and something or other awesome. Mains - pulled pork bun, curried fries (literally best thing I've ever put in mouth), red slaw and pickled cucumber. Mate... If you want a good meal, eat here. There are no where near enough good eateries of this standard outside of machester, in the east Lancashire area and I hope that this place sets the standard for other restaurants and eateries in the area. Seriously if you know of any other places as good as here, in the east Lancashire or north Yorkshire area let me know xxx

We've been here twice and have really enjoyed the experience both times. Once was a beautiful day so we sat in the back enjoying the view and the second was a rainy day so we sat in the cosy pub area. Both times we were greeted by the friendly staff and our dog was given lots of cuddles and attention. The food is excellent, we were particularly impressed with the leek and potato soup served alongside our sandwiches which came with crisps on top! We'll definitely be regulars at The Dog Inn!

We will certainly visit the restaurant again. The food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a pleasant afternoon at the 'Dog inn' with my family including our 18 month old granddaughter. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff. We had the brisket chilli and some had the sirloin steak special , everyone enjoyed their food, we finished with a lovely drink on the patio with beautiful vistas.

Visited at Sunday lunchtime, the fish and chips, smoked ribs and pulled pork were fantastic and very generous portions for a reasonable price. Friendly staff, will definately be going back to try some more of the smoked meats!

We visited here on Wednesday after hearing so many good reviews. We wasn’t disappointed. Can’t fault the food at all. We had salt n pepper ribs, garlic mushrooms, steak, rack of ribs, pulled pork bun, desserts to follow. Service was a bit slow but that was ok for us as we wasn’t rushing. The restaurant was extremely busy. We did make the most of 50% off aswell however we would pay full price as it was well worth it.

There is a pub called the dog inn, Don’t get it confused for the car park sin. A couple of young chefs saw some potential, Very talented lads with many a credential. They started to produce some top noch grub, Where the views aren’t available in your average pub. If you haven’t yet given their food a try. Then get it booked quick, don’t be that guy. Make a booking on their site, The garlic mushrooms are an absolute delight. I can guarantee you’ll leave feeling satisfied, As the food and service is undenied. Once you’ve enjoyed your lovely meal And you’ve utilised their amazing deals There’s something for them that you can do, And that’s do them a solid and leave a review. You don’t have to be a renowned poet But if you enjoyed your visit them let them know it !

Had a great meal on Friday all 4 meals were excellent and the service/staff very welcoming and pleasant both chefs also came and asked if everything was OK which we thought was very good. Finally the views from the balcony are superb so thanks very much for a wonderful afternoon

Arrived at 7pm for our table for 40. We were seated with the most amazing view of the countryside and Darwen Tower. We ordered our food pretty quickly and the children's starters came not long after. However, from arrival, we waited apx 1hr 40 for our main meals. Was a shame as we waited so long that we lost the excitement of eating out. I know it's only two of them in the kitchen and it probably was busy than usual due to the eat out scheme, but it just took the shine of the experience for us. We ended up gobbling it down as we were so hungry and ready for home. Food was nice and as a veggie, was great to see a few different options that weren't the standard veggie burger. The set menu was a great value and ideal for our growing teenagers. Would definitely recommend and try again when it quietens down.

First time eating at The Dog and would definitely recommend. Friendly welcome from the staff, fantastic food and great service.
