We had a wonderful meal here during our walk of the south downs. I had the recommended fish in beer batter which was delicious it was also lovely to sit in the garden and have our meal looking out at the Downs.
The Unicorn Inn – Midhurst

The Unicorn Inn – MidhurstWe waited over 1 hour for food when the restaurant was not very busy, and the food was terrible. Avoid.
The Martlets – Bognor RegisVery Good value, good food. 4.50 eat as much as you like - you seriously cannot go wrong. Slightly better quality than Cosmos, way better price - highly recommended.
Imperial Chef – St. Leonards-On-SeaMoonrakers has recently re-opened in Alfriston (nr.Polegate) and 'wow!' what a different place it is! Not only was my meal the best culinary experience I have had in a long time (cooked by a protege chef from one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants) but they have clearly spent a lot of time creating the 'right' image / atmosphere ... Big buckets of flowers everywhere and fantastic artwork (including Mockfords). I felt thoroughly spoilt and would say that my experience at Moonrakers beats Mirabelles hands down (which is really saying something). Get yourself there quick before there is a three month waiting list!
Moonrakers – PolegateMust be one of the most overpriced and disappointing Indian meals I've had in a long time. The restaurant is very smart and upmarket. The food, however, was below average. Many of the curries have similar red coloring so that they taste pretty much the same, even if some have pretty exotic names. The nan was about the size of a quarter plate (i.e. half the size of nans in most restaurants). Example of overpriced: 10.45 for a king prawn jalfrezi, which contained about 5 king prawn and a watery red sauce. Shame, the food does not match the restaurant's appearance.
Royal Spice Indian Restaurant – Burgess Hilli loved this place. it was amazing! the atmosphere was great! the service was great, the food was great, and the family were great! they made us feel so at home and comfortable. i recommend Little India in Henfield [behind budgens]. the takeways are exceptional aswell.
Little India – HenfieldReally lovely food and reasonably priced. The staff were fantastic! Thanks!
Castle Tandoor Restaurant – HastingsReally enjoy coming here - for the food, the staff, the atmosphere. Very good value and a warm reception, easily the best Italian in town. And a wide-ranging menu. Try the thin, perfect pizzas! The best since we ate out in Rome. IT was awarded - deservedly - the top spot among local restaurants by the Observer newspaper group. Even Saturday morning coffee there feels special - and it's a good place for special occasions too. They really make you feel welcome, and are great with children, helpful and courteous to the elderly. A real family restaurant. What is there left to say? GO THERE!!!! EAT THERE!!!!
Trattoria Italiana – BexhillWe celebrated my husband's 64th at the Golden Palace Restaurant with the family. Had an enjoyable evening and the staff presented us with a birthday cake. It was truly a memorable evening. Highly recommend special occasion and the two private function rooms are great. Very good value with their eat as much as you like menu, freshly cooked as per your order.
Golden Palace Restaurant – Seafordwe went there for a birthday party for 30 people and we was in a private room with our own bar, it was amazing, we all loved it, had the eat as much as you like menu, the food was very good, the staff were very friendly and nice to chat with and we had a great night at the golden palace, would recommend it to everyone..
Golden Palace Restaurant – Seafordgreat really good food right on beach
Oceanview Bakery – PevenseyQuirky seventies-feel pub, somewhat down at heel but that's part of its charm. Took me back to my youth... Atmospheric and with good music, played not too loud. Friendly bar staff. I'll go again. Definitely one on its own. So much better than the Buccaneer across the road
Cavalier Inn – EastbourneThe food and service in the Asian Rose is excellent. The family fun time in the early evening is great as the kids can try curry tasters to see which ones they like. The kids menu is very reasonable and the owner makes my kids feel like very important guests when we visit the restaurant.
Asian Rose – Burgess HillLovely clean, friendly country restaurant. Food is fresh and imaginative. Staff helpful and a great selection of wines on offer. Good value for money, worth the trip out.
Baloo’s – HenfieldOHSO Social has an excellent location, unfortunately that is where the compliments end. As we were in a large group (19), we had chosen the buffet option for lunch (should have been £12, but ended up being £16). We had originally booked for 25, but only ended up having 19, we had to pay the difference for the missing 6 people as we were told they had sufficiently catered for the 25. Upon paying extra, we were disappointed to find the food barely feed the 19. Lunch also consisted of little more than cheese and crackers with a few pieces of bread (not enough for the group), 2 salads and a small plate full of salami. Thinking this was the entree, we were excited about the remainder of the meal. Unfortunately we found out that this was considered the main course, with an additional "casserole" served in coffee cups. The "casserole" consisted of a tomato type sauce and a few chunks of cheap sausage, they also only brought out 16 casseroles, although we paid for 25! The only consolation to the terrible meal was the bottle of "free" champagne they offered - 1 bottle for 19 people, and 4 wine glasses. A great day was overshadowed by the terrible (expensive) meal and service. I suggest you stick to just drinking here, and eat somewhere else!
Ohso Social – Brighton and HoveWe visited the Royal Oak on a recent trip to Henfield, the service as soon as we entered was first rate, with friendly and knowledgeable advice on the choice of wine and the suggestion of the cheese board which was perfect as we were not overly hungry. Consequently, we will be back again very soon!
Royal Oak – HenfieldI ate here at the weekend with my family and really enjoyed the meal and service. The place has really changed since I last went there which was some time ago. The new owners have really spruced things up. I would recommend this place.
The Old Polegate Station – PolegateThe atmosphere on a Friday & Saturday night is great, really good to celebrate a Birthday. Food & Service fantastic.
