Sailors’ Safety – NewportWow!!!! We had a fantastic meal here.. Sunday Lunch for 5 of us and I can honestly say it’s the best we’ve all ever had in a restaurant! So worth the visit, can’t rate the food and service highly enough! Thank you..
The Copper Pot – CardiganSunday lunch. Sadly a smaller party than we originally booked for due to illness. Generally the atmosphere and staff were lovely. Minor comments, my husband had the aubergine and said previously it had been cooked more which he preferred. Not a complaint, an observation. My friend loves samphire and she chose sea bass which despite the description came without any samphire and she was disappointed. Because she was not paying she didn’t mention this at the time (silly person!). Also hubby felt his chocolate and orange tart for pudding was a little small in portion for the price. Honest review! No complaints, we will be back!
Sailors’ Safety – NewportSo pleased to see the return of the Sailor’s Safety. A delicious Sunday lunch, wonderful atmosphere and great service. Good luck and hope to see you flourishing!
Sailors’ Safety – NewportStopped off here for lunch after a lovely coastal path walk, had mussels and fries and a few bottles of bluestone beer very nice indeed. So nice we booked for next day Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint either, tender Pembrokeshire pork and the trimmings were delicious.
Sailors’ Safety – NewportFantastic food here. Service is friendly and very efficient. Love the garden too.
The Copper Pot – CardiganGorgeous fresh authentic flavours. Lovely staff and views. We are hooked!
Nok Nok Mumbles – SwanseaExcellent as always.

Nok Nok Mumbles – SwanseaBeautiful meal. The ribs and chicken were cooked perfectly. Really good portion sizes. Very relaxing and cosy atmosphere with friendly cheerful staff.- Thank you
The Copper Pot – CardiganWe’ve eaten here twice in recent weeks (both lunchtime) and have been blown away by the quality of the food on offer, every dish is presented perfectly and to have a restaurant that specialises in seafood right on the beach front is wonderful. Well behaved mutts were aplenty…delighted to have this on our doorstep, and I can’t wait to come back in the evening to see if the atmosphere is different.
Sailors’ Safety – NewportMyself and my wife together with our Labrador dog ate in the garden. The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic. We had an unusual request as we were celebrating the life of a friend and we could not make the funeral. The staff assisted all they could as we wanted to drink a particular type of wine. Luckily they helped out by pointing us in the direction of the ‘Feral Pig’ a wine supplier in the main hotel.
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportDelightful, charming and unique setting...however the reality of both the meal and the atmosphere was not what we had anticipated. Sitting in a pod on an Autumnal evening was rather like sitting in a shed at the bottom of the garden, on our own . We saw and heard virtually no-one else through out the entire evening so the buzzy atmosphere that one anticipates in a restaurant was totally lacking. Food was fine, but not amazing which at these prices, outside London, it should be. Portions were small but no vegetables were included and so these had to be ordered as extras . £6 for a small bowl of unadorned new potatoes for two is quite some mark up.
Llys Meddyg Pembrokeshire – NewportWonderful food. Wonderful atmosphere. Wonderful staff.
The Copper Pot – CardiganThe food was excellent and really makes the most of the local produce. I had mussels and truffle fries and both were brilliant and good portion sizes. The staff were also friendly and accomodating for our large numbers and tried their best to accommodate us as best they could. I will definitely be returning when next in the area. The only thing I will say is that the booking process was incredibly difficult to sort. We initially tried to book a table of 8+ but the online booking system did not allow us to do so and directs us towards emailing or calling for any booking over 8. There is unfortunately no number for the pub so instead, I tried to book in person but was told that this was not possible and that I needed to go and book online which I had tried to explain was not possible. This left me with the option of a message on Facebook or an email in order to book for the numbers we needed. The Facebook message went unanswered for around a week before I received a holding reply back saying they would check for me. The email was also unanswered. I appreciate completely that the signal down in bay is really bad and it may not be possible to access emails/phone all the time but I really think that a better booking system would be beneficial to the pub.
Sailors’ Safety – NewportWonderful food , in the most lovely location and interiors , and especially love the local art
Sailors’ Safety – NewportVisited Pettigrew with my niece, have been coming here for a few years and have always enjoyed the gluten free options being a coeliac, but I must say on this occasion I was tremendously let down, the gf scone was extremely dry, the gf bread was very unusual (you can tell this was manufactured), in fact the slices of bread were tiny, almost impossible to make a sandwich with, maybe next time Pettigrew could use a gf bloomer and slice it themselves? The gf cake (almond and orange) was very burnt, both top and bottom making it difficult to eat. I did bring the dry scone to the managements attention, they were very understanding and said they had a new chef, I was too embarrassed to mention the other issues with the food. Wish I had, as I spent £49 and feel it was a total waste of money. Service and staff were lovely!
Pettigrew Tea Rooms – CardiffLove this place, whether for a drink, or great food, especially the local fruits of the sea. A great spot to visit for the little cove, the walk over the coast path or just to chill and let the world go by. We wish the new owners every success, based on our experience they should do very well.
