Ate at the Sage and Vine with my friend on Saturday 7th February and once again, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had three small.plates each, a large glass of wine each and a caramel latte each. Came to just short of £50 each. It's not cheap here but it is the lovely food, atmosphere and service you are paying for. I had skin-on plaice fillets, hummus with flat bread and ham pieces. The amount was small (as small.platesuggests) but the sum was filling. My friend had beef and mash (this is a hearty serving and one of the larger small portions), ham pieces and three smoky cheese croquettes. She couldn't finish the croquettes. So if you fancy that combo, it is one of the more filling ones. The place was empty when we entered at 1200, but soon filled up with its typical clientele; small or large groups of women average age from mid 40s upwards and the occasional couple group. Get dressed up, stay casual, you can do both here. Do book ahead though. It's busy every day and particularly on a Saturday. We saw people coming in on-spec having to be turned away.
