I’m now writing it on behalf of our guests who loved the place; they were particularly taken by the soft shell crab, which they said was absolutely delicious. As usual the food and the service were excellent. It was very busy last night (25th) yet the staff were on top of everything and the atmosphere was great.

The black pudding stack was actually quite nice but my husband did not really his fish cakes. With high hopes for the famous club sandwich, I was confronted with really chewy dry chicken that I couldn’t and didn’t eat, my husband had the stew with not very fresh mash that was stodgy and you had to chop into it with your fork and a quite hard dumpling. We won’t be going again.

The Royal Oak – NantwichWe visited for the first time on Sunday as a table as ten. We pre booked food a week beforehand as requested. Mains came out around 40 minutes after we were sat down. We were kept up to date with how long they were going to be which was good. Service was brilliant can’t fault the staff at all. Sunday lunches were good, desserts not so much but won’t put us off coming back. Lovely evening.
