We had a lovely meal from the festive menu. The surroundings and service was excellent.

Dan kindly allocated a larger table at very short notice when my group increased on the day. We received excellent table service that night & everyone agreed the food was A1. Nice atmosphere in the pub/restaurant too. Great night out thanks to the team at the Blue Anchor.

I had the tart, I too found it dry,and the new potatoes were cold and needed some butter. hope it's better next time as the Barn is a great place to shop

The atmosphere is briliant. I have had cheese scones with butter so frozen, it was useless Yesterday I had a Bailey's dessert. And I think they forgot to open the bottle, there was no suggestion of it at all. Highly disappointing

Me and my husband celebrated his birthday with a meal and a stay. We were so happy with our choice, lovely staff and wonderful food. Couldn’t have asked for better. If I could change anything it would be a firmer mattress in the room but that’s personal choice.

We had a vegetarian tart which was a bit dry. The salad needed a dressing and potatoes needed some butter - overall quite disappointing

Everything was great. Serving staff were helpful and lovely. Light lunch was delicious One of my favourite places. And that you can pre book a table is a great bonus. Extremely fast email response to a change in the booking

An enjoyable lunch. Prompt service, tasty food, and polite friendly staff. A bit noisy, but that was because everyone was enjoying the ambience of the surroundings

Booked ahead and enjoyed tasty lunch, very generous portions, staff lovely and attentive when needed top ups to drinks. Very pretty environment too. Would recommend.

Had the rustic tomato soup which was very nice so thick. Service good but incredbly noisy in the restaurant. A shame as one of the best restaurants n garden centres in Colchester.

Excellent service as always. Staff always friendly, even when busy. Our favourite place for coffee and cheese scones. Always delicious.

Table for 2 was so small we had to put things on the floor. Barn fry up was ok but for £12:50 very poor value.

I love coming to The Barn. Always a very friendly professional welcome and service throughout. Food is always amazing! The decorations at Xmas make it an extra special experience . Will return again and again!

Booking experience excellent- done on line and communication good. The gent who showed us to our tabled mumbled and all we heard was table 22. No explanation of whether it was table service or go up and order. Service quite slow even as they we not busy when we arrived. Food arrived and some were sent back as cold. Others said parts of their food was cold but couldn’t wait any longer to send it back. Sourdough toast was extremely thin and could not be cut with a knife and fork. Food that was sent back took time to be returned and the rest of the breakfast was already eaten. Good that you can separate the bill at the till. Worked well. Not the best experience and we know they can and have done better.
