Fabulous Sunday lunch, there were 4 of us and we had 3 different meats and all said how good it was. Great customer service, nothing was too much trouble.

Good food and attentive, pleasant service.

All four of us really enjoyed our meals: two fish goujons and two chicken kievs, and puddings. Lots of food. Happy staff provided good service. Reasonable prices. Good beer. Good looking pub. And no music! A very pleasant evening.

Another fantastic Friday night dinner. Great food, brought to our table by the brilliant waiting staff, alongside a bottle of wine from the comprehensive wine list, surely this is what Friday nights were made for? Well certainly for us they are!!

We had an enjoyable experience at Thursday lunch, relaxed and friendly atmosphere and food was great. The £10 lunch options were very good.

Food was delicious as always, service was outstanding as always, lovely atmosphere in a lovely setting. Real ale was good also, well done Sam and the team. I highly recommend a visit to this pub.

Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch!

Stayed at campsite Hawthorne Cottage & booked at the Miners for a meal. Lovely meal we chose the special for that evening (Wye valley rump steak) with all the trimmings delightful. Good ales & wine with delicious sticky toffee pudding what more could you ask for “Delicious “ Also staff very attentive.

We have eaten a fair few time here, we moved to Forest of Dean 6 years ago and always try places to eat but we are drawn back to the miners sling The food is excellent as too the staff, and pot luck Monday is a brilliant idea

Excellent food as always, lovely people and great service

Whilst the food and service were very good there were a couple of points which could be improved upon. Firstly, since I have a large appetite I feel that the portions were rather small. I asked for bread to mop up the excellent sauce that came with my sea bass and was charged £5:50 for this. My guests cheese board was good but no butter was provided.

Have been a regular for a number of years and will return. I feel that my last meal was a little below usual standard with regard to very chewy beef and all food a little cooler than l prefer, and my sticky toffee pudding was also below par.

Having seen a Sunday lunch picture . A decision was made to try this establishment. As long as it does not come out of a bag or freezer. I had a conversation with the chef or owner. A fresh delivery of meat and fish, due that day. Put me in a quandary before I had arrived. Love a blue steak, love fish too. Chose two fish courses in the end. Did not disappoint. The other person chose the Onion bread starter and steak for main. OMW. The pure flavour of the steak speaks volumes. No need for any sauce. Just pure flavour. Can not wait to try the highly recommended Sunday lunch.

Family friendly. Great food. Good deals. But slow but they were busy.

Lovely place and did not disappoint. The staff were considerate of the children’s needs to eat soon and served with the adult starters. There was a good pause between courses so felt satisfied with well balanced portions. The food was really good quality. We had the goats cheese starter with bread, steak, duck and sticky toffee. The children’s portions were perfect for little tums and they left full and happy. All round a great choice and would go again.

Nice pub with excellent service. The fishboard platter starter was more than enough, and we didn’t get to try the desserts as a result. The dog friendly are is a bit remote from the livelier internal areas.
