Fantastic food. Good atmosphere. Landlord very welcoming, as were the staff. Look forward to seeing them again.

Eagles Head – UlverstonCheck out the Viceroy in Carlisle for Christmas Lunch! This year, my favourite curry house is offering a choice of traditional Christmas lunch or something with a bit more spice on Christmas day for under £16 per person!! Vegetarian options of course!
The Viceroy – CarlisleWonderful pub. Stayed the night and was made welcome by the regulars - The Ship became my local for the night! Conversation ranged from onion-growing to football. Comfortable room, great real ale, great food, great hosts. Can't praise The Ship highly enough.
The Ship Inn – UlverstonFood served ***** Food available from menu *** Rooms*** Shower ** Service ***** We ( 2 couples)stayed for a three night break and were more than pleased with the overall standard but must say that the range of available dishes decreased as the days went on. Breakfasts were excellent but the evening selection was limited. However, the service was first class, with Shona in particular being willing to put herself out to help with any and all requests. We would certainly stay here again.
Black Swan Inn – PenrithWe have eaten here since it was first opened and have never been disappointed Visited last week and had the best salad with chicken I have ever tasted. The freshness and quality was so apparent......and you cannot often say that about lettuce! The staff was nice and friendly too, long may ATRISAN stay one of my favourite places to eat.
Booths Cafe – Kendalwe highly recommend the ship inn at bardsea, we stopped for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed the friendly warm atmosphere. The food was excellent and the staff professional, this is a real country pub and we will be returning
The Ship Inn – UlverstonSunday Dinner & Evening Meal
Waverley Hotel Maryport – MaryportMe and my husband went to this hotel for our wedding anniversary, the food was excellent, very generous portions. The staff are very pleasant and always had a smile on there faces. Will be bringing the rest of the family with us next time. Really enjoyed it.
Golden Lion Hotel – Maryportby far the best in cumbria
Canton Chef Cantonese – Cleator MoorWhat a terrible experience! For two of our party of six to find hairs in their meals is bad enough but after reporting this to the waitress and her taking it back to the kitchen and the so-called chef not even having the decency to apologise or explain spoiled what should have been a pleasant family celebration. Shame on you Oilys!
Oily’s – WorkingtonReally enjoed the food. The portion size is generous and also of a good quality. The service was friendly and good. Would recommend the local ice cream.
Carlin’s Bar and Bistro at the Allerdale Court Hotel – CockermouthExcellent soup and a sarnie here for lunch in the sun at the weekend. There were a couple of tables outside that we snaffled on one of the few days that the sun shone this summer. Great spot on Lake Road to watch people wander by. Its quite cool inside too and is a bar as well as serving food
Cafe Bar 26 – KeswickVisited this restaurant on the 28th August 2010. Starters menu very basic. I had the mussels in white wine and garlic, they had obviously been warmed up in the microwave and as a result had shrunk to virtually nothing and were very chewy. My husband chose the fried brie which had not been freshly made and looked like it had come out of your local supermarket freezer. Pizzas were good but at nearly £10 each were the most expensive I have had in any Italian restaurant in a long time. We didn't stay for sweets. Lot's of staff but service could have been more tentative and restaurant tables far too close together. Wouldn't recommend, there are much better restaurants in Keswick to try. No authentic Italian atmosphere, music was up to date pop!!!
Casa Bella – KeswickMe and my partner have been to many places to eat and Oily's is by far the best and our favourite. The food is 5* quality and they provide generous portions; just incase your really hungry! The dining area is very modern and always clean and the staff are fantastic. I would recommend this to all.
Oily’s – WorkingtonThis place is all shinny and new. Had a lovely makeover. Very trendy yet old school, with its fine traditional china and high teas. It's now attached to a cool giftshop We had a couple of awesome cakes and proper loose tea with a strainer. In the heart of Grasmere so you can fuel up pre or post walk! give it a go for sure..
Baldreys – GrasmereAs a former regular customer. When asking to order pre-order items, i was rudely told i would have to wait. The owners son wanted payment first as he though i was untrustworthy. He said this in front of many customers. Cuckoo!
George’s Chippy – WhitehavenWe held my Mam's 60th Birthday party at the Bistro. From the start of organizing to the end of the evening the staff were attentive, friendly, professional and welcoming. The food was all homemade and the Bistro helped me put together an individually designed, varied and value for money menu for all the family to choose from- nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As an added bonus - our photos are stunning with the views of the harbor in the background !!
Wellington Bistro @ The Beacon – Whitehaven'All our food is home made' etc etc - see the menu. NO it isn't - the soup was poor and on questioning we discovered that it was out of a packet (Knorr) The Cheese Toastie was hardly toasted, just warm and the cheese not at all melted. A warm cheese sandwich was a more accurate description. Sorry but one to avoid
