L’Enclume – CartmelFriendly and good value for money. The wine wasn't great but overall ok!
Jintana Thai Restaurant – AmblesideLamb shank was excellent as was the wife's Haddock and chips. Good pint of Dent and friendly locals. A superior Cumbrian pub.
Blacksmiths Arms – Broughton-in-FurnessThe Crown Inn is a vibrant local pub selling a selection of good wines, spirits, excellent real ales, Italian style coffee and wonderful food. It is unusual in that you can combine an inviting English country pub experience, open fire, a warm welcome from hosts Tony and Becky with fantastic Italian food. Lovely pizzas, pastas are a speciality as well as the range of other delicious foods such as steaks, fish and specials. Try this spot. You will not be disappointed. One visit and you will be hooked. Be sure to book. They are busy but very keen to fit you in. They will serve you well. 01768 870 410
Crown Inn – PenrithFantastic lunch, not expensive, superb celeriac pear soup with croutons, homemade bread, interesting wine list available BY THE GLASS,lovely house, friendly people.
Davids – CarlisleA a wonderful time at this awesome lakeland pub last weekend. We plonked ourselves in front of their amazing real fire and ate and drank ourselves silly! A must if in Bowness on Windermere
Hole in T’ Wall – WindermereEnjoyed my scampi, chips and salad at the High Cross. Friendly service and the beer was good too. Next time I will hog the roaring fire!
High Cross Inn – Broughton-in-FurnessOur cafe of choice in Ulverston. Nice atmosphere, good quality food, decent portions and pleasant service. Only small gripe is the dark windows, covered with blinds that you cannot see the street out of.
Hot Mango Cafe – UlverstonSo glad this place has opened in Ulverston. We loved the place they used to own, The Hat Trick Cafe. They have brought their 'pleasantly odd' style and great food to our manor. We will be regulars.
Fourpence Cafe – UlverstonGreat fish and chips from this venue. Queue out the door for the takeaway which is always a good sign.
The Old Keswickian Restaurant – KeswickMust say best coffee for miles , well worth a visit if only for a coffee.
Cafe 11 – Kirkby StephenTerrible! The salad was wilted and stale. The coffee was weak because they put water in the cup before the coffee! I have never seen that done before. It was undrinkable.
Cafe Nova @ Beales – KendalJust been tonight - six of us - lovely meal - we all enjoyed it - the only fault was even though we went early young girls in the conservatory/dining room made really loud noise the whole time. We could not hear each other talk and no one asked them to be a little bit quieter, which would have made the evening perfect .
Queens Hotel – St BeesBest chateaubrioand I have ever had. Staff were great, price was spot on, would truely recommend to anyone.
The Wild Boar Inn, Grill & Smokehouse – WindermereIf you are in Kendal and you want a lite bite, or something more substantial Charlie's is the best in town, order at the counter then take a seat, it is usually busy so you may have to wait a short while because everything is freshly made. With good food and cheerful service it is the place to eat.
Charlies Cafe Bar – KendalVery tasty meatballs and the wife had a veggie Stroganoff. The area was having a powercut but they still managed to accommodate us. Very helpful and friendly service from the young team.
The Prince of Wales – Broughton-in-FurnessThe best beer in Christendom. Deservedly CAMRA pub of the year 2013. No food to speak of though, apart from cheese toasties and a fine selected of sweeties. It's all about the beer.
Manor Arms Hotel – Broughton-in-FurnessGreat selection of teas and coffees to drink in the premises or buy to take away. We bought some coffee and a mug for a gift.
