Me and my husband went to this hotel for our wedding anniversary, the food was excellent, very generous portions. The staff are very pleasant and always had a smile on there faces. Will be bringing the rest of the family with us next time. Really enjoyed it.

Golden Lion Hotel – Maryport
Bill King

by far the best in cumbria

Canton Chef Cantonese – Cleator Moor

What a terrible experience! For two of our party of six to find hairs in their meals is bad enough but after reporting this to the waitress and her taking it back to the kitchen and the so-called chef not even having the decency to apologise or explain spoiled what should have been a pleasant family celebration. Shame on you Oilys!

Really enjoed the food. The portion size is generous and also of a good quality. The service was friendly and good. Would recommend the local ice cream.

Excellent soup and a sarnie here for lunch in the sun at the weekend. There were a couple of tables outside that we snaffled on one of the few days that the sun shone this summer. Great spot on Lake Road to watch people wander by. Its quite cool inside too and is a bar as well as serving food

Cafe Bar 26 – Keswick

Visited this restaurant on the 28th August 2010. Starters menu very basic. I had the mussels in white wine and garlic, they had obviously been warmed up in the microwave and as a result had shrunk to virtually nothing and were very chewy. My husband chose the fried brie which had not been freshly made and looked like it had come out of your local supermarket freezer. Pizzas were good but at nearly £10 each were the most expensive I have had in any Italian restaurant in a long time. We didn't stay for sweets. Lot's of staff but service could have been more tentative and restaurant tables far too close together. Wouldn't recommend, there are much better restaurants in Keswick to try. No authentic Italian atmosphere, music was up to date pop!!!

Me and my partner have been to many places to eat and Oily's is by far the best and our favourite. The food is 5* quality and they provide generous portions; just incase your really hungry! The dining area is very modern and always clean and the staff are fantastic. I would recommend this to all.

This place is all shinny and new. Had a lovely makeover. Very trendy yet old school, with its fine traditional china and high teas. It's now attached to a cool giftshop We had a couple of awesome cakes and proper loose tea with a strainer. In the heart of Grasmere so you can fuel up pre or post walk! give it a go for sure..

As a former regular customer. When asking to order pre-order items, i was rudely told i would have to wait. The owners son wanted payment first as he though i was untrustworthy. He said this in front of many customers. Cuckoo!

George’s Chippy – Whitehaven

We held my Mam's 60th Birthday party at the Bistro. From the start of organizing to the end of the evening the staff were attentive, friendly, professional and welcoming. The food was all homemade and the Bistro helped me put together an individually designed, varied and value for money menu for all the family to choose from- nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As an added bonus - our photos are stunning with the views of the harbor in the background !!

'All our food is home made' etc etc - see the menu. NO it isn't - the soup was poor and on questioning we discovered that it was out of a packet (Knorr) The Cheese Toastie was hardly toasted, just warm and the cheese not at all melted. A warm cheese sandwich was a more accurate description. Sorry but one to avoid

Brambles Coffee Bar – Windermere

My sister and I had food at this place. We waited an hour and a half for our food to arrive. The whole entire time no one came to our table to explain why it was taking so long. We only had one drink because no one came to our table. Then we asked to take our food away they put everything in two containers when we had ordered at least 4 dishes. My prawns were cooked too much they tasted like rubber. Seriously do not waste your money there is so much better restaurants in windermere. If i save one person from this place I'll be happy!!!!!!

Prince of India – Windermere

wonderful meal in a lovely restaurant with friendly service.

Ristorante Michelangelo – Carlisle

My friend and I ate here in June but had mixed feelings about our Rossini experience. The mixed starter was very nice, especially the pate. Our main courses weren't that good however. My steak was quite fatty and my friend's chicken dish was mediocre. The service could have been better, it was a quiet week night and the restaurant was less than half full but it took about 25 mins to get the second glass of wine we ordered. To sum up it was OK but could have been better.

Ristorante Rossini – Ulverston

One of my favourite cafes in Ulverston. The best coffee in town, lovely cakes, and the sandwiches are fantastic. Last time I was in the cafe I had a stilton and pear sandwich. Delicious and the bread is to die for. My friend loved here pork and apple sandwich as well.

Sting in the Tail – Ulverston

A recent visit left me wishing i lived closer to this lovely pub. A warm welcome and really friendly staff with delicious uncomplicated food, a great choice of beer for my husband and wine for me meant we really enjoyed our meal here, it knocked the socks of other places in the area. we will definitely be back with friends.

The Strickland Arms – Kendal

Stayed here a few times and it is always good customer service. The place is very friendly, the food is delicious and I can bring my dog. It's the perfect place to unwind, traditional but with the modern comforts - and fantastic beds.

Borrowdale Hotel – Keswick
George

Just to let everyone know this restaurant has been newly refurbished and now has a wine cellar in which is truly amazing, we were shown round this by the Manager (I think his name was Stephen). We ate in there both nights of our stay and will be going back very soon. There was a good choice on the menu as my wife is vegetarian and also has some allergies but this was not a problem. We will be back and thank you for a great break away.
