Her Citi – MaryportThe food is delicious, the atmosphere is great and we really enjoy the themed evenings (especially during the Blues Festival and the Mexican evening). Debbie also catered at our wedding, which went down really well- the home-made food was really popular.
Her Citi – MaryportI've been meaning to write this review for ages since we visited for my sister's birthday (below). The food was absolutely phenomenal - huge portions, rich flavours and cooked to perfection. The lamb shank blew my mind. I was responsible for arranging the meal and Charlotte was so helpful from the start, providing us with a fantastic menu and answering all my queries. Can't speak highly enough of her. My sister's birthday was really special and a big part of its success was definitely the food and service.Go go go!
The Pheasant Inn – Grange-over-SandsThis is a fabulous restaurant and is our favourite one EVER. The food is second to none and the service is wow. If you like steak go no further.....you will NEVER find better than this restaurant than this
Beswicks Restaurant – Broughton-in-FurnessAlthough we are technically in competition with this venue as we have a pub in Bowness just a mile down the road I felt I must extol the virtues of the Elleray. Wherever myself wife or daughters have a spare hour at lunchtime we pop in to enjoy excellent value home cooked food at the Ellerey. It is difficult to find good value in an area which is largely overpriced for eating out but the Ellerey excels without compromising on quality.
The Elleray – WindermereAfter travelling extensively worldwide for business and for pleasure I can honestly say this is one of the best seafood restaurants I have eaten in. The food, service and friendliness is second to none. Thank you Hooked ! A 5 STAR experience
Hooked – WindermereThere's no where I'd rather go to unwind - the open fire warms the atmosphere as much as the conversation with the Ship's regulars. The joys of returning after a day walking the office cobwebs out of your hair to a home cooked meal, wine to sink into and ale to savour. Thanks to you all!
The Ship Inn – UlverstonFirstly there was a serious miscommunication about happy hour which was dealt with in a harsh and rude attitude by the staff members. They did not listen to what the customer was saying and appeared nonchalant and dismissive. Would not recommend it. It also took over half hour to be served our drinks and even then our jug of water did not materialise until an hour into the evening- very poor, unfriendly, slow service. Thankfully the quality of the food almost made up for the poor quality of service. I currently hold the 'welcome host' award and most of the staff at Casa Romana would definitely not reach the requirements to achieve this award.
Casa Romana – Whitehaven – WhitehavenA real find this place. Near a wonderful old house we took for a week. The Derby Arms has a Dickensian feel, with its real fires and period features. The food was excellent too and encouraged us to eat there 3 times during the week.
The Derby Arms Hotel – Grange-over-SandsBit of an iconic place in the Lakes now. Has had a great reputation for a long time. On the whole we were not disappointed. My wife and son really enjoyed their food. I had the Christmas Turkey which wasn't up to much but will not hold that against them as it wasn't a staple of their menu. The place has real character in a wonderful part of the countryside. I have stayed there in the past too and would also recommend that.
Masons Arms – WindermereGreat place to shop for high quality produce in the Lakes.
Low Sizergh Barn – KendalThough we didn't have a large meal we were impressed with this place. A high end contemporary hotel in the Lakes. Our main motivation for going there was the spa which was a perfect escape from the sub zero temperatures outside. I personally prefer places with more olde worlde charm but if a modern vibe is your thing then this is definitely the place for you in Cumbria.
Swan Hotel – WindermereOur holiday in Windermere was made even better after a visit to Brambles. The home made food was divine and the service first class. Well done Amanda. We shall certainly return on our next visit to the lakes. Brian & Anneka
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereLovely cosy pub with a bit of style, great menu and bustling bar. The perfect place to enjoy some hearty food after a long walk.
Brown Horse Inn – Windermerehad a super meal there last week service and attention very good. the steak cooked to perfection!!!" thank you
Dodds Restaurant – AmblesideAll food on menu is from the pub owner's farms, and that's easy to spot in the quality of the dishes they serve. Great food and reasonable prices, service is polite and discreet... and they have roaring fires! Highly recommended, try the sausage and mash or the beef pie. Didn't try any of the beers but they had a decent selection on.
George and Dragon – PenrithThanks for a lovely enjoyable evening, food was better than devine hospitality exceptional x
Her Citi – MaryportThe Horse and Groom in Gosforth Cumbria is a pub to avoid! Very rude and sarcastic bar manager. We understood that it was under new management but we didn’t expect to be greeted by a ‘Basil Fawlty’ ! We were there for Sunday lunch yesterday and spent £85 for four of us. The bar manager was sarcastic when we walked in and on leaving was very rude to my daughter and granddaughter. I was in the loo at the time and missed the leaving comment but I know for sure that we will NEVER return to the Horse and Groom in Gosforth. Basil Fawlty! you are an idiot.
