Mulberry Bush – Kirkby StephenGreat place to stay if you want to be in the thick of it in Bowness. Contemporary styling in the lakes is fairly rare and this place has it.
Angel Inn – WindermereEating out for my wife's birthday while visiting family in the lakes. The food here was excellent, plenty of choice for my picky palette, and helpful knowledgeable staff to look after us through the night. The portions were generous and the food was cooked to perfection, my steak being cooked almost to the second as I like it. A lovely sweet menu finished off a perfect evening. Oilys was recommended by my parents and they were spot on, they will be coming again, as will we when we next visit - 5* perfection :-)
Oily’s – Workingtonmy daughter and i visited Amanda's tea rooms 3weeks ago what a pleasant person she is well worth visiting
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereHighly, highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I were on holiday from Australia and decided to dine in here while we were staying in the Lake District for a couple of days. I wish I could remember the name of the dish that I had, lol, it was a vegetarian dish, but it was the best Indian either of us had ever tasted. That was a couple of years ago and to this day we rave about the food to anyone here in Australia who will listen to us, lol! Very small premises, but efficient polite waiters, and very busy even on a cold winters night, so to me that says a lot about a restaurant. Would go there again again next time we visit the Lake District when we are in the UK
Prince of India – Windermeresalvanas is the best restaurant in the town love it :)
Salvanas – Barrow-in-FurnessI love this place, the food is brilliant, chef is great and the atmosphere is so welcoming. It's like a second home!
Akash Tandoori – WhitehavenVisited last year 2010 out of curiosity....because we had watched Brambles progress on TV. EXCELLENT is the word I can use to describe the place, food, and friendly service. Very relaxed and in no hurry to get rid of us and it was continually full the rest of the week. Will be visiting again this year on our holiday.!!
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereHave called in twice during July & Aug. 2011 for both lunch and afternoon tea. Excellent, wholesome, well presented food, tasty and just as you'd like it - if you'd made it yourself. Very high standards of cleanliness and most welcoming and helpful, polite staff. Will become a regular calling place for us when in Lakes.
Bowness Kitchen – Windermerevery nice food, reasonably priced. waitress very 'stuck up'. (red haired) spoke to me like she was telling me off. overall, good
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessWould recommend this place to anyone who likes eating in Wetherspoons. Thar's the quality of the meal we had there last weekend. Oh and on complaining and then paying we were asked to leave immediately. On returning to my car in the morning my cars roof had been slashed. working on the principle that the two aren't linked then watch out for someone in the sleepy town of Brigsteer carrying a knife.
The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalMe and my partner go Here at least once a month the food is fantastic cooked to order and nice and fresh waitin on staff very polite and well dressed if your visiting the lake district oilys is the place to eat well worth the money and the best grub in west Cumbria Well done oilys xx
Oily’s – WorkingtonLike lots of others we visited as we had seen it on television. We were most disappointed, we had tea and flapjacks, the tea was ok but the flapjacks were as hard as bricks,!
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereOhhh what a place to eat. We come to the Lakes twice a year for a nice break and always visit The George and Dragon now, when we are here. It has never let us down on service and lovely food. I have to say the chocolate Pot is something i always finish my meal with and will do everytime, if it stays on the menu.. I will be visiting The George and Dragon weekend 5th August and cant wait.. X
George and Dragon – Penrithfood excellent but watch out for the drinks sting £1.40 for cans of pop and £2.00 for small bottles of coke. water £1.70 high way robbery 17 7 11
Original John’s Place – CarlisleThis place really was superb an unexpected treat for me and my wife we used to dine here when it was the Porthole. We saw a sign for the roof terrace and it was a lovely day so we went in a booked a table on their for dinner. We were greeted by a lovely friendly lady who showed us to our table upstairs. There was music playing and the sun was still shining it felt like we were in the Med! The food we ordered was all lovely my wife's salmon was best dish, served with pumpkin ravioli yum! We really did not expect this place to be so good, thank you for putting back a great place to eat in Bowness!
Porto Restaurant – WindermereAfter reading the reviews I took a friend out for the evening and was disappointed. My lasagna was just ok and the banana split was the poorest I have ever had. No fruit salad, nuts, decoration - only banana, ice cream and cream. Poor
