I have been a customer in the Vic for a few years along with many of my friends lvy and family. there is a great friendly atmosphere. The person responsible for the last comment needs to take a good hard look at why he will have been refused. the landlord and landlady are very fair when refusing to serve someone. they would have had a very good reason not to serve them whatever it may have been. i would recommend this pub to anyone and everyone from the young to the old!! fantastic!!

Very good yummy food for a great price

We had a lovely meal at the British Raj at the weekend, and we were very impressed. The service was friendly and efficient, and the selection of dishes is outstanding. When we asked my parents where they would like to spend their Golden Wedding Anniversary, they Said only one place would do, Beswicks We have been many times, and every time you are made to feel so very special. David looked after us in his usual caring and considerate manner, and nothing was any trouble to him or his team. We had a memorable evening, and my parents will never forget it. Food sucks but the barmen are absolutely Amazing, Adam and Adam combine to make one of the more spectacular drinking venues around Cumbria. The only place I have been so far that stirs Martini's.

Once again we have dined out at Beswicks and as ever, we are never disappointed. We will recommend it every time. We do visit other restaurants and always come back here because we know we can guarantee service with excellent food. Joyce and family

We visited francines for the first time last May and was very impressed. When we returned to the lakes again at February half term we knew we had to go again but this time we wanted to go in the evening. We were certainly not disappointed. The food was superb extremely well presented and totally faultless, needless to say we went back for lunch two days later again tremendous, oh and we took back home to Bolton two massive pieces of carrot cake. We certainly wont hesitate to make the hours journey when we go out for lunch or dinner its well worth the ride. A must for all food lovers.

Celebrated my birthday there with husband & friends - couldn't have chosen a more enjoyable venue. Very laid back and relaxing evening. Particularly liked the break between courses ( 5 of them !). Not the least pretentious. Excellent choice of food & wine and very well stocked bar.

Locally sourced food is excellent (shoulder of lamb recommended).

after finally finding the place we where not disappointed. the food was excellent as was the service.defo try it if you've not been. great views and wonderful beers and cider

Have been a few times and really enjoy the experience of being there. It is expensive for the area. However to overcome expensive wine by the glass, buy a bottle you can get one for around 8pounds. The food is good and excellent value at the moment as they have a half price deal on! March 07. So if you are thinking of giving it a go get your skates on, you simply can't be disappointed at those prices.

My favourite pub for a meal - absolutely lovely. Lots of choice, intimate and comfortable surroundings, great service and superb food. Thoroughly recommended!!!

Very friendly with quality food.

Visited Beswicks Restaurant fantastic atmosphere, excellent meal the duck was incredible and the sweets marvellous. nearly forgot the bread they make their own and it is heaven. We have 2 favourite Restaurants in the Area Beswicks and Rustique both VERY hard to beat for overall experience both different so could pick one over the other.

Went in today coffee and toast. Hot milk would have been nice bread could be improved it is too light and falls apart. Come on Gillams get it together i am rooting for you. Queenie.
