Small friendly pub with large open fire and warm atmosphere. Food is excellent for quality, quantity, presentation and cost. Food menu is varied and there should be something for everyone. Real ales are the order of the day straight from the barrel. Cider also on tap. Try it - you won't be disappointed!

Very Good Home cooked food, excellent value for money and the staff and owners always make you feel welcome. The Sunday Carvery is definitely worth visiting for, however worth getting there early as it's very busy. Delightful Bed and Breakfast, which is very comfortable and clean and they serve a HUGE breakfast which is not for the faint hearted but it is worth trying to eat it all.

Cavalier Inn – Torrington

Very disappointed in this restaurant. Our small party spent over £250 pounds and yet they still made a charge of £8 for for bulk standard bread . I have written to the restaurant with my complaint and the did not even have the decency to acknowledge my correspondence. I really feel that this place is out to exploit its customers on the back of some daytime television shows

Bearslake inn is a beautiful old building which is full of history the food is first class and the staff friendly and very good at their job the food is served quickly and the presentation is excellent we have only just started using the Bearslake Inn again after many years and the new owners are a credit to the area we have recommended this Inn to lots of people and will be one of their regular customers for many years to come regards Pat Arthurs Okehampton February 2008

I visit this restaurant as often as possible, the food as always been top rate. The staff and owners are lovely; they also serve a nice pint of real ale.

East Of The Water – Bideford

Had a lovely meal here, the staff were really good with us, The wine was excellent as was our food. Will definitely return it had a great atmosphere.

Strada – Exeter

Love it here! The chicken is always really moist and the chips are the best of all fast food joints. They should offer a free range or organic chicken selection though.

Nando’s – Plymouth

came here to try the new menu, you can choose as many starter and mains as you can eat for £12.50. But you have to be able to finish everything or they charge a fine. Great food, great bar area and wine list. The restaurant however is too open plan and lacks atmosphere, it could do with a few partitions dotted around to create some warmth. Will go back though. I think this is probably the best Chinese in Exeter, all the city centre ones are out of date and shabby.

Oriental City Restaurant and Lounge Bar – Exeter

We had lunch here on a beautiful sunny day in February, with views from the dining room across the grounds and beyond, watching the horses frolicking. The food was stunning, pickled Red Mullet, Guinea Fowl with truffled sauce and puddings that were a step too far. Luckily we could retire to the lounge for a rest before setting off. Truly a unique hotel and restaurant where you can forget about your daily grind and relax with the help of the brilliant staff. I read that they are up for a Michelin Star this year and the food more than proved that for us.

The Pig at Combe House – Honiton

We visit this restaurant frequently and never disappointed with the menu, food or service. The owners are charming hosts. It is very busy at weekends so advance booking is wise.

There are many good restaurants in the South Hams but our favourite is Waterside Bistro in Totnes and we eat there regularly. The meals are mouth-watering and good value;with the added pleasure,at the end of a delicious meal, of good coffee and homemade chocolates (they are wicked!).The above also applies to Matt and Delphines`other restaurant at the top of the town,La Fourchette(very French), where the staff are just as friendly and helpful.

This is a very nice little cafe right on the harbour front. The food and specials are very good and not too expensive. The coffee is good too and it's a very nice place to meet people.

Montys – Plymouth

The restaurant is often fairly quiet as it is not in a busy location. The food is generally very good and there are many dishes in the Indian home cooking style. I'd recommend trying the dishes with names you may not recognise from standard curry houses, for example, Paun Bhajee, Bengan Bhartha or their Dhosas (the last are not always available). These dishes are very spicy but not hot.

Veggie Perrins – Plymouth

I would like to first clarify that I am in the trade myself and I have finally found what lots of people have been trying to recreate across the width and breadth of the Country, YES finally a real pub with real locals, real ales and a real atmosphere.I could not of enjoyed my lunch more, the service was impeccable and the food was excellent.I will without a doubt return here the next time I am down.

Very good food and atmosphere. We enjoyed a real mixture of food with simple Bistro Fare. Last week we tried Soused Herrings, brilliant Oysters, Linguine of Clams and Mussels as well as a wonderful Cassoulet of Pheasant and Venison. Seasonal cheese included Vacherin Mont d'Or and a funky Chocolate and Stilton Tart. Knowledgeable staff really able to guide you to the right dishes on the night. Loved the Sharpham New Release and the coffee was tops. This is a really casual/laid-back Bistro, one which we really love and would go back whenever we can. Heartily recommended.

Bistro One – Plymouth

We decided to visit Chloe's based on the reviews on this site. We were not disappointed, the food and service were superb. We have eaten in many fine restaurants including the Savoy and can honestly say that the food is up there with the best of them. I am so pleased we have a restaurant like this in Plymouth, nice atmosphere, great food and top service. Jo was a great host and Didier came out to talk to us which was a nice touch. We will be back!

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at. The food is always great and Danny (the owner) and his staff are always welcoming. It's a friendly place, with very good food.
