This new restaurant has recently opened in Crownhill village, transformed from an off licence to a tastefully decorated contemporary restaurant. Extensive menu offering the old favourites plus a selection of chef specialities which are more authentic. Have been 3 times since it opened and not had a bad meal yet, staff are very nice and service is good.

We visited the Laughing Monk in Strete on July 2nd 2008, Lunch was absolutely mouth watering. The Scallops were cooked to perfection on a bed of salad with Chefs home made dressing, and avocado/ horseradish puree. The Bakewell Tart and cream dessert was most traditional, as the owners Ben And Jackie worked in the Cavendish Hotel near to Bakewell in Derbyshire. The Menu at The Laughing Monk specialises in seafood which is all sourced Locally, as are the Vegetables and Meat. We recommend a visit to this lovely Restaurant and enjoy the friendly atmosphere .

Would not recommend, service is slow, management are rude. Over priced drinks leave you looking for another venue. Would rather eat takeaway than wait 50 minute for a simple meal.

The Berkeley Bar & Grill – Plymouth

The staff are very friendly indeed and made me feel very at home! The food was excellent and all in all I felt I was in my local pub, home from home (which is Oxfordshire). Barbabra and staff were always happy to help I would recommend this pub to anyone! Loved it!

Hele Billys – Ilfracombe

The carvery is great and good value for money - but only go there if you are prepared to sit next to a screaming child. This place is particularly popular with young families - and even if the child screams for a full 45 mins, don't expect the management to do anything about it (ie politely ask the parent to temporarily remove the distressed child from the area for the sake of other diners - it simply wont happen).

Exeter Arms Toby Hotel – Exeter

Very poor and not a patch on what the shop must have been when award winning well over a decade ago and, as I understand it, under different management.

Squires Fish Restaurant – Braunton

Ate here in May 08, on recommendation of our bed and breakfast accom. Delicious food, individually prepared, within a pub atmosphere., but not pub prices. However, you always pay more for quality food.

A really enjoyable atmosphere and great great food. Crispy duck to die for! We will definitely returning when on holiday next. Great off street parking too.

Very surprisingly the worst Chilli I have tasted - tried vegetarian and meat versions and neither of them very nice. My dinner guests enjoyed their different meals.

Wow.......What a find. This restaurant is good in everything it does. Good food, good service and good prices. You don't feel as if you have to whisper or sit up straight but the food is as good as, if not better than, the place in Exeter that you do. Well done. The desserts deserve a special mention...really yummy.

I was looking on this website for somewhere to eat whilst on holiday this spring and found Jalapenos. We had a nice meal and especially enjoyed the fresh cocktails! Service was great and we will return on our next visit to North Devon for some more chillis!

As a lover of Indian food, we are always looking for new and different places to try. Taj Mahal is honestly the best Indian restaurant that we have ever eaten in or taken away from. They have a large selection of foods catering to every spice level, the service is also exceptional. The toilets are a little cramped, and the dining area doesn't look like much, but once in and enjoying your food, you don't even notice the small surroundings. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Teignmouth.

I went to the kents pub in wellswood last week. And has to be said the food and ales are fantastic. Great staff. I had the slow roast pork. Wow! loved it. Is now one of our places to visit weekly.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely meal at Kitley, we took advantage of their reduced rate if you book a table on their website (£5.00 off per person!). The service was brilliant and the food was great for a special occasion! As a venue for a romantic meal it could not be faulted.

Another brilliant meal at Lorenzos! This place is such good value, with helpful and friendly staff, we keep going back. Especially when you take advantage of their cinema deal - A tapas (most of which are large portions), a drink and see a film at the Reel cinema next door all for £10! The Chicken Coco, Nachos, Chicken and Date Kebab, Ciabbatta Sandwich, Potato skins, Chilli Poppers.....(the list could go on), are all great. We go so often we should work there. Sangria is great too! Its a cool place for relaxed dining with friends. If you are a large group you can be accommodated upstairs too!

One of my favourite restaurants, set in a Georgian house you will be warmly welcomed by Linda and John Paul who does the cooking. All the food is freshly cooked for you, you might see John Paul nipping into the garden for there herbs, they only use fresh local produce and it is beautifully cooked and served. They also have a great range of Belgium beer. highly recommended
