We tend to visit here everytime we visit my in-laws who live in Kingsteignton. There's so much to look at around the place - all the signs, etc - you could go in here on your own and not get bored! What a good place. It's tucked away though and we only found it the first time by accident.

What a gem - not on the High Street so you have to find it... Now we know where the locals go to eat and why they keep stum about it as they know what? best and this place is excellent. Amazing food as good as you will get and great atmosphere and service don't just let the locals have it all their own way!

The Orange Tree Restaurant – Torquay

A small local pub with food way above expectations and some good ales. A varied menu includes pub favourites alongside more exotic fare; butterfish steaks, moroccan lamb casserole and more. Occasionally game is available, and this is very local and top quality. Wild rabbit with mushroom is fantastic, as are the partridge with bacon and the venison. The decor is dated, but the welcome is warm, as is the large fire in the grate.

The A la carte menu may be expensive compared to other local restaurants, but the quality of the food, ambiance and service is head and shoulders above most of the competition. To save money, we went for the early-bird fixed price menu, which offers no choice (although they varied the main course for a vegetarian) but was great value for money. A smooth and creamy parsnip soup, a robust and hearty Daube of Beef (a towering and colourful Mediterranean tart for the veggie) and 'Eton Mess' to finish. Two glasses of wine, water and tip and it was still under £50 for two. Great view from the Atlantic room, some fabulous artwork on the walls and some nice design touches in the decor came for free. Thoroughly recommended

We had a fantastic night, I will definitely go again .The staffs were lovely & polite .On the food outstanding for money, you can tell the best quality was used. They also do not have children in the restaurant under 7. Which I thought was good, and not after 9pm and have a separate family room. The ambience was beautiful, little glowing lights and dim lighting and music played softly .The people dining were chatting to the other tables. What a restaurant!

We dined here recently during the week expecting it to be quite quiet, what a surprise to find the place buzzing, a real mixture of people, some post cinema some looked like they were having a dinner party at home. We were immediately lifted by the atmosphere and quickly got the wine ordered, I really fancied a good bottle and Charlotte recommended a top Australian from the bin end racks, it arrived properly decanted and complete with two awesome glasses. Food wise we both ordered Scallops in Bacon, a massive portion of beautifully cooked scallops arrived with crusty bread. We had to leave some to make room for our mains, I ordered the mildly spiced Indian Lamb with mash, again the portion huge and very good too, my partner opted for the smoked chicken dish which she loved. We had a great night, will definitely go again and recommend it.

An excellent meal. Fantastic pub and restaurant fully recommended. Make sure you book for a table as its very popular with locals and alike.

i have to say the courtyard is now my favourite restaurant in North Devon, if not the whole county. and the local crab and lamb dishes were superb. would definitely recommend it as a holiday treat - go on a sunny day when the roof is open, or for a starlit dinner

A few of our friends go to the Eastern Eye on a regular basis, it is the best restaurant so far in the Plymouth area. We love the service provided by all staff, especially Kalam, who is the most sexiest waiter in town. His generosity is outstanding and the entertainment is always a bonus.

We had the best meal we have had this year, I was bowled over by the quality of cooking here. It was as good if not better than my last great experience, which was at the black pig in Rock. If you are looking for a top of the tree gastro experience I suggest getting over to Woolacombe ASAP.

Probably one of the best traditional Chinese restaurants I've been to for a long time. Hopefully business will bring me back to Tavistock shortly for another excellent meal @ The Birds Nest

I have to confess to being a bit of a Bistro One regular, and can recommend all their offerings ranging from their excellent English Breakfast to their varied dinner menu which features the best of local produce. Don't come here if you want flash surroundings, crisp linen and stuffy waiters, but DO come here for outstanding food and service at a sensible price!

I paid my first visit to the Harris Arms last night and I was not disappointed. First of all I was pleased to find that it's a pub that serves excellent food rather than a restaurant that is nominally a pub, so I would be as happy dropping in here for a drink as I would coming in for a three course meal. My partner and I enjoyed a very good meal, well presented and using quality local produce. The menu is not extensive, but the specials vary regularly and the ingredients are locally sourced and of outstanding quality. A strong feature of this establishment is its interesting and very reasonably priced wine selection. The owners come from New Zealand and have a background in wine, which is a real strength of the place. For the beer drinker they serve good local real ales too. I would recommend the Harris Arms to anyone who enjoys good food and wine at a sensible price, and I look forward to returning soon. It's not a large place but it is popular, so, if you're planning to eat, book before making a special journey.

We dropped in for lunch, it was unusually busy we thought considering its in the middle of nowhere, but, I suppose it is just outside of Exeter. It would have been very easy to spend but we used will power and held back. I had sausage and mash, it was fantastic, the quality of the sausages was staggering, apparently they are made just for them by a top local butcher. My partner (a Veggie) had what she referred to as brilliant, a tart of leek and goats cheese, we couldn? resist puddings. We shared a selection of different passion fruit desserts that included sorbet, cheesecake and mousse, all presented on designer crockery and a mille feulle of berries with creme anglaise. I cant wait for the opportunity to go at night.

We always get a warm welcome from the friendly, knowledgeable staff, whether we last visited a month or a year ago! Great menu - too much to choose from! - and a relaxed atmosphere. The best curry house in Plymouth - very highly recommended.
