This bistro really does source local ingredients. Very light touch with pastry - especially cheescake. Seasonal produce. A generally high standard - and very popular. Only open Fri/Sat nights. Local wines

Toucan – TivertonVegetarians and vegans alike will be spoilt for choice here. In fact, when in Plymouth, I never eat anywhere else. The food is imaginative and beautifully prepared and I am gradually working my way through the menu! Unmissable, in my opinion.
Veggie Perrins – PlymouthThis little place has plenty of character and is tuckedaway in the Barbican. I thought the food was really tasty for an indian meal without it being your usual overpowering tastebud destroying curry. They know how to make their curries a little more refined. The portions were just right and the some of the staff were shy but friendly non the less. I swear I saw a Sherpa lurking around when I was in there last. Go here if you fancy going out for dinner with friends where you can hear yourselves talk.
Himalayan Spice – PlymouthYou have to go!! even got to see James Tanner himself, in the flesh!! that besides, the food is always fab, and service attentive, We sat in the courtyard at lunch, and not even the rain could dampen our spirits! The puddings are to die for!! especially the chocolate mousse...mmmmmm!
Tanners Restaurant – PlymouthThe service here is always excellent. The food is good too. Worth a visit
Eastern Eye – PlymouthVery good food and serivce and amazingly cheap. Makes a good change from convential Indian Food. The jokey name of the restaurant sadly doesn't do it justice. It's much much better than it sounds.
Veggie Perrins – PlymouthAs always the food was excellent. Only problem is that my wife will not eat anywhere else. It's that good!!!!!
Anchor Inn – ExeterIf I call it old-fashioned, quaint, even the dreaded "nice", it might sound a little derogatory - but I don't mean it to be. It's the perfect place to take your Mum for lunch or a cup of tea when her feet are sore from exploring Deb's and Dingle's. Respectful staff, clean floors and table linen, unpretentious food. No risks, no hassle. Recommended dish: one of the many varieties of welsh rarebit.
Milk Maid The – ExeterWe have been coming to Jingles over the past few years, and now visit Torquay as an excuse just to visit the restaurant. Fantastic food as always.
Jingles – TorquayPersonable service, plenty of space and excellent food set the Barton Cross apart from town-centre restaurants. Food is reliably first rate and beautifully presented. Plenty of space, company and opportunity for relaxed pre and post dinner banter.
Barton Cross Hotel – ExeterThis restaurant was fabulous, very recommended to all chinese lovers. Try the pineapple dessert. Very yummy.
Dragon Pearl – PaigntonWe chose this restaurant because it advertised as a veggie venue. It took some searching out, as it is well hidden in the back streets of Stoke. Maybe that's why we were the only three people there all night. However, it could have been the fact that the décor hasn't been touched since the 1970s. Food was OK but tasted microwaved, and wasn't particularly cheap for what it was. The menu was not extensive, and wasn't particularly veggie either. Staff were not unpleasant, but we felt a little conspicuous as our conversation rattled loudly around the barn-like interior. We've seen worse places, but we won't be going back there.
Flames Restaurant – PlymouthAll the food on the menu currently has 50% off!! I don't know how long this offer lasts, but we had a lamb rezala (beautiful curry with oriantal spices, goes well with sweet naan bread e.g. peshwari), a house special curry, egg fried rice, special fried rice, tarka dahl, sag aloo, peshwari naan, onion bahji's, somosa's and kebabs as starters, and two drinks each all for.... £29!!!!! The staff were very helpful when choosing the right sides for our dishes, and very friendly and polite. It may look a bit dated on the outside, but inside it is really nice, with lots of cosy nooks, dim lighting, lovely murals on walls and indian music. Must try!!!
Ganges – PlymouthI was in Exeter on business last Monday and was trying to eat somewhere exciting. Half the restaurants were closed which I found highly irregular for a City centre! Any Malysian- no, any Noodle bars-no, any decent modern chinese-no, any wok based street food-no. I was totally underwhelmed, but I remembered a review I had read on Sugarvine about a place called Starz, it took some finding but I was relieved to find it was open. On entering I was expecting to be the only diner but the place was really busy. I thought that I may be crashing a private party but this the owner said was a typical week night. I had found probably the busiest restaurant in Exeter. I ordered a ribeye steak and a fabulous top of the range USA red wine which was ridiculously under priced. The really nice waitress arrived with a huge plate full of the biggest and thickest ribeye I have ever had, tons of crisp and fluffy fries, loads of mushrooms, salad and a pot of peppercorn sauce. In truth I was overfaced but I had a great time, the atmosphere was electric and the service friendly and attentive. I will want to return as soon as I am in Exeter again. The quality of this American restaurant far exceeded the likes of TGI etc, this place had soul.
Starz Bar and Restaurant – ExeterVery good pub Grub and good veggie options!
Church House Inn – KingsbridgeNice place, nice food. I'd go there again.
City Gate – ExeterI live in Bideford and often visit Crabbys. This bar is fantastic, lots of space good music good food during the day, but not served at night...Excellent fun on new years eve when the building and ALL the staff become Themed (playboy mansion in 2002 & Heaven and Hell 2003) Give it a go if you ever visit Bideford.
Crabby Dicks – BidefordVery good restaurant. Service fantastic. Brilliant thai cooking with a unique atmosphere. Highly recomended.
Thai Palace The – PlymouthSunday Menu: 2 courses, £31; 3 courses, £39.50.
