First time experiencing the Ship on a Sunday, all I can say is first class, seafood starter and Sunday roast (Beef). Waitress was first class, when ordering drinks they arrived very quickly, Food was first class, was informed straight after we ordered that there was small delay on the food, but it was worth the little wait, fresh veg Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes very nice, ordered extras cheese cauliflower and pigs in Blanket. I would definitely recommend the Ship.

Fantastic meal for my birthday. Great food big portions, friendly bar staff and waitresses. David and his team always deliver top notch service.

It is the only place in Colchester that can guarantee a good meal every single time you go. No hit and miss. Always good. Tasty. Good quality ingredients. Well seasoned. I always take visitors from abroad here knowing it will be good.

We dined early on Saturday 4.00pm and found to be more suitable and relaxing so no big queues. Good food enjoyed by all, but the spring onions we non existent for the duck meal. But a good choice of all food provided Dave & Sue..

I treated my mum to lunch at The Barn Cafe and wasn’t disappointed. We were offered 3 seating options and as it was a beautiful sunny day we chose to eat outside. This area is both comfortable and well maintained. The drinks menu offered a hydration berry drink which was absolutely delicious. My mother ordered the fish and chips which looked incredible and I chose a healthier chicken/lentil salad. Both were delicious. All the staff were attentive and friendly and we will be returning soon.

this place is,shocking went for my birthday the food is,discussing no flavor all watery down cold pizza and we got there at 5.00pm only good thing was the refill drinks Desert were watery to must of been frozen This place needs to be shut down or they need to change there chef desperately or they will lose people i cant believe they are still open The seat need replacing as all worn and saggy Not worth the price at all make me sick when got home This,place needs to take a leaf out of AROMA in basildon festival I think they need to cut down there food so they can make sure it hot and taste nice and not all watery The service was rubbish some of the people who took plates away never spoke

I visited the Cafe for Lunch on Saturday. The Setting is lovely as were the staff. However I ordered the Welsh Rarebit, for £12 I had one piece of toast and a few salad leaves on the side which I feel was really bad value for money. As an aside the knives weren't sharp enough to cut the toast.

We had a delicious meal on Sunday. The staff were very welcoming to us and our four grandchildren. The food and service were very goid. I would recommend The Duke’s Head unreservedly.

Took my elderly relative for Sunday lunch, the service was absolutely fantastic, quick and helpful and very friendly. The food arrived quickly, which was great as we were hungry. ous portion of beef, with amazingly tasty roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots cooked wonderfully, still firm. The Yorkshire pud, stuffing and gravy were all great, more stuffing would have been a bonus. The cauliflower cheese side was well cooked, and maybe not as "cheesy" as some others, but still good. Pigs in blankets were tasty ( a bit fatty, but TBF what did I expect from a pig. In a blanket :) The meal with a couple of soft drinks and 1 cider came to £80 including service, which I think is pretty good for 3 people.

I went here for my birthday party on Saturday and had a great time! Food was lovely and staff looked after us . Everyone had a good night

Awesome food and awesome stouts. Service is always 110% ad the food is unreal Billy is a genius in the kitchen and a top bloke always offering a warm welcome

Thoroughly enjoyed crushed avocado with poached egg on sourdough for breakfast, including excellent coffee. Although busy at the time experienced attentive service.

A delicious meal in pleasant surroundings

My husband and I went for breakfast yesterday morning. On the whole the breakfast is very good but the sausage looked so anaemic. I said to the waitress that it didn't look cooked. The chap who takes you to your seat came over and told me that they are steamed first then grilled so they are cooked and that was that. Didn't make me feel any better about it so I left the rest. Very disappointed in his attitude.

Early evening meal - lovely food really enjoyed it, service good staff friendly. However, the flat white coffee at the end could have been better but we would go back.

Lovely lunch with two very good friends as a thank you. Good food, service and atmosphere.
