Had the rustic tomato soup which was very nice so thick. Service good but incredbly noisy in the restaurant. A shame as one of the best restaurants n garden centres in Colchester.

Excellent service as always. Staff always friendly, even when busy. Our favourite place for coffee and cheese scones. Always delicious.

Table for 2 was so small we had to put things on the floor. Barn fry up was ok but for £12:50 very poor value.

I love coming to The Barn. Always a very friendly professional welcome and service throughout. Food is always amazing! The decorations at Xmas make it an extra special experience . Will return again and again!

Booking experience excellent- done on line and communication good. The gent who showed us to our tabled mumbled and all we heard was table 22. No explanation of whether it was table service or go up and order. Service quite slow even as they we not busy when we arrived. Food arrived and some were sent back as cold. Others said parts of their food was cold but couldn’t wait any longer to send it back. Sourdough toast was extremely thin and could not be cut with a knife and fork. Food that was sent back took time to be returned and the rest of the breakfast was already eaten. Good that you can separate the bill at the till. Worked well. Not the best experience and we know they can and have done better.

I had booked Afternoon Tea for my mums 80th Birthday. The restaurant was great. It was lovely inside, cosy and warm and decorated all Christmassy. Our table was all set ready for us and the balloon and gifts I had dropped in earlier were there as promised. The young lady that served us was lovely. Really friendly, attentive and cheerful. One if our party couldn't make it and we asked for their Afternoon tea to be boxed up so we could take it away for them which was no problem for the kitchen to do. The food was delicious. A nice selection of sandwiches, sausage roll, scones, loads of cream and jam and a plate with a nice selection of cakes. We couldn't eat it all and our lovely waitress gave us takeaway boxes to pop our cakes in to enjoy later. My mum was thrilled with her treat. It was a lovely experience and a place we will return to again. Thank you very much

Had yet another absolutely fabulous night at the Blue Anchor on Thursday! Excellent food and service at a decent price. Staff were friendly, and very attentive without making you feel rushed. Faultless throughout! No auto service charge added either which is great as I much prefer to decide on my own tip. We were there for a live music evening, provided by IrieJ, and he was brilliant as always. Really got the party atmosphere going after dinner. Our group thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and will be back! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Hello, my friend and I had the most enjoyable lunch. It was as usual a lovely experience.

Food was good only negative comment 2course meal £20 festive menu but you had starter and main meal was not allowed main course and dessert

Had Xmas meal with people from work … amazing service and banter with the staff .. the chef excelled the food was amazing all 10 of us had an fantastic time … thank you to all the staff for a great experience

Another fabulous meal at the Blue Anchor! We had the festive menu; food was delicious as always, service impeccable. There was enough time between our drinks order to our starters, then from the starters to the main courses. We never felt rushed, and enjoyed our afternoon yesterday. TY again!

Had another great meal at The Blue Anchor, while meeting up with friends! Staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. I would have given 5 our of 5 for the food, only one of our party enjoys a fillet steak, unfortunately this was not on the menu. The sirloin steak chosen was good though. Looking forward to returning soon.

Have been coming on several occasion and I have to say that this time the food was not as it was previously. Few items were not on offer from the menu we came 12:30. Service was good.
