The Bay Leaf – BillericayI think the food at the sunflower is great, it so yummy :)
The Sunflower Eaterie – Southend On SeaThis got to be the best Indian Take-Away in Brentwood. We have tried many elsewhere, this is unique. Everything is nicely balanced. Antonia Lynn Brentwood, Essex.
Pink Garlic CM14 – BrentwoodMy wife and I had carvery lunch @ the Bread 7 Cheese today. The food was top class, the chef Graham, the waitress Tracy and the manageress Micheal, were very happy helpful people. We visited this pub because I am chairman of the newly formed Canvey Island U3A, I am also leader of the new Luncheon Clud for them and this venue was suggested as the next meeting place for my group on June 1st 2011. I would like to find out more about the history of the building, but have not so far had ant luck any help would be appreciated. Mr G.Robertson (chair Canvey Island U3A )
Bread and Cheese Public House – BenfleetUnable to recommend this restaurant, house wine for £14 very poor, £2.99 quality, fish and chips meal, well i have had better from a take away, very disappointed, I just wish the food was as good as the staff.
Memosa – ColchesterDo not eat here, it's awful and the owner is shockingly rude. I paid £3.20 for a circa 1970s school dinners style apple crumble.Yuk. We sat outside and witnessed her bawling at a woman who'd moved a cheap plastic table so that her elderly partner in a wheelchair could access it. I was visiting the area having last been around the mid 90s when it was a delightful place with fabulous cakes, sandwiches and mismatched olde worde china. ALL of this has changed. A comprehensive disappointment.
Philpott’s Tearooms – Waltham AbbeyWithout a doubt, the best fish & chips around. Even better than Harry Ramsden's.
Mumford’s – GraysGreat atmosphere, beer and food. We tried to the set Japanese meal and were really pleased with the flavours and quality - a great way of trying the cuisine of a different place. The staff were attentive and courteous. We'll be back.
Fai’s Noodle Bar – Colchesterno recommendation except don't go there waste of money went Sunday horrible
Azuma – BillericayAmazing food, staff were so funny and made us feel at home. The best pie and mash I have ever had by far!!! x
Taylors Pie & Mash – ColchesterTHE new place to be in Leigh - the real deal - laid back, cool crowd, live music. Will be back to try the food.
Ten Green Bottles – Leigh On SeaGreat little bar, food is excellent and the character is topped off nicely with the live music. My new local!
Ten Green Bottles – Leigh On SeaNice small cosy restaurant that looks like it has not been decorated for at least three decades. The menu was decent & this is certainly not one of those high straight ‘Italian’ restaurants’s that sell little other than stereotypically Italian pizza & pasta dishes. This was definitely more authentic than that kind of fare, which was a big plus. There was a mixed response to the dishes we ordered from our group of eight but I think on the whole everyone enjoyed their meals. My main special of slow cooked beef shoulder was delicious but I was less impressed with my starter of deep fried whiting, prawn & crab claw. This wasn't very exciting at all & made me think of the kind of finger food you buy frozen from the supermarket. I didn't have dessert but some of these that were ordered also looked like they came from a packet. Presentation was at worst sloppy & best quite ordinary & definitely had a pub grub look about it. Our bill worked out around £40 a head, which is not bad at all considering the drinks we had. I'd go back for sure but I’d drink less to make it a better value meal out.
Umberto’s Restaurant – HornchurchWe visit the sister branch of Village Indiya in Hadleigh/Benfleet, and the food is spectacular. It is very different to your standard/average Indian restaurant. The menu is brilliant, and every dish we've tried tastes so fresh, with so many beautiful spices and flavours. Very well priced also. I look forward to returning. Highly recommended!
Village Indiya – Grayssuperb pub food at a high standard really friendly family atmosphere, thanks for the new monkhams
Monkhams Inn – Buckhurst HillNew friendly owners very good beer big TV in one bar , the snug quiet, pool &darts. I did not sample the food
Maybush Inn – HarwichAvoid. Poor food, much from packets, shabby decor, scruffy facilities.
