We booked the Blue Anchor to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We actually had our wedding reception at the Blue Anchor 1 year ago. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent and so was the wine. More importantly was the service and the way we were treated as returning customers. I would highly recommend the restaurant and also the event space which is fantastic. They made our wedding special and then made our first anniversary just as special. Thank you to the management and staff. We will be back.

I booked a table for three yesterday morning for breakfast. Myself and one friend had been to The Barn before but I was the only person who had eaten in the cafe. For me the breakfasts served at the Barn are second to none. Yes there are other garden centres relatively close by but in my opinion the Barn Breakfast menu is outstanding - faultless using the most delicious locally sourced products. A gold star cafe ⭐️

It was our first time here at grumpys. We don’t live in the area so when we visit Southend we always find somewhere to eat before we head home We enjoyed it very much, it was different from othe usual places we go. The staff were lovely and served us quickly. The burgers were great will definitely go back next time we visit Southend.

As a regular customer this place never disappoints me. I highly recommends it. Fabulous food, fantastic service, great atmosphere, the staff are always friendly and approachable. I will definitely be going again!

Omg was excellent

We are moving up north so booked a last minute lunch with my son and daughter in law yesterday. The service was fast, server very friendly. The food was great. Everyone happy with their choices. I wish we had time to go again but moving in a couple of days

A lovely lunch amazing food brilliant staff great value for money.

Booked lunch for 2, seats had been rearranged and we felt like we weren’t really sat in the restaurant as tucked in a corner with no other tables nearby. Loved the new specials, lots of choice and ordered 2 mains and 2 drinks. After being served one main, we waited patiently for the other one, eventually went to the counter to chase - it wasn’t on the order. This means that we ended up eating separately - not ideal. We did receive an apology but I think they should have done more. We followed our mains with 2 slices of cakes, again they didn’t arrive and had to be chased. Food was good, staff friendly but service needs to be improved., they weren’t very busy. We are quite regular customers and unfortunately on most occasions there have been issues, the most notable was being served clotted cream that was off as part of an afternoon tea. Again the apology should have been better. I do like the food but just wish they would improve the service, avoid the issues and when mistakes happen, sort them out and make sure the customers leave happy.

Meal was okay and a lot of variety. I wish we could have like Nigerian Jollof rice, not a bad idea. The dessert would have been my favorite but all the cake sponges was too dry. A little syrup would have made the difference. My kids enjoyed their meals. Welldone

Excellent restaurant - wide choice of food and service with a smile. Had fish and chips - great quality and portion. I've taken my Dad numerous times and always had a great experience.

Visited yesterday fir the 1st time. Lovely lunch in the restaurant and lovely clothes and home goods to buy. Plant section excellent will certainly visit again soon.

The food is always really lovely, plenty of choice and great quality and price. Just a shame the garden centre doesn’t accept cash.

We made our first visit to Stoked this weekend and it definitely won’t be our last. The lure of the hard-to-find US beer was the catalyst for our visit but oh boy the food was so good! We shared a BBQ plate and some loaded chips. I don’t know what they’ve sprinkled on it all but it’s irresistible. Great atmosphere and lovely owners and staff. Thanks!

I had high hopes, but it was average. Roast was alright but plates were cold so food got cold quick, portion was good for meat, veg offering was bleak, like a microwaved pack of chopped carrots and peas? Pudding was strange, sticky toffee pudding with no sauce? Was alright but unfortunately don’t think I’ll return very quickly.

Decent food and friendly staff, have been multiple times and this is the first time that the food wasn’t as great and it took an hour from sitting down to receiving our food. The food was placed down and the waitress left quickly so we were not able to ask for sauces etc. we left not as happy as we have done the other times we’ve visited
