Staff and service was amazing but the food let it down .most of the meals /starters were overcooked .

Delicious food

Birthday Booking for 10 ladies. Staff friendly and approachable. Bit of a wait between food order & food delivery but food lovely once it arrived. Staff sorted out Birthday cake for us too.

Love this place. Such a lovely pub to both have a drink or a meal. Staff very pleasant and food lovely.

Fabulous birthday lunch!! The food was gorgeous… well cooked and well presented. The White Lion has certainly improved their food since we last visited. No complaints. Everything was cooked perfectly and portions were excellent too. A great experience.

Really nice meal... was actually cold but our server was very happy to warm it up for me... like the new changes..

We came here for a Sunday roast to celebrate my birthday. Lovely meal and catered for gluten free. Food is value for money and very well presented. I have been coming here the past couple of years and will continue.

The whole experience at the White Lion at Alvanley was very good. The service was good. All the food was excellent,we only had starters and main courses but everything was tasty served at the right temperature and good sized portions.

We've been coming to the White Lion for years due to its warm and homely atmosphere, as well as reasonably priced, quality food. Service is always a bit of a lottery, though. Sometimes everything is brilliant, but others (like our most recent visit on a Friday lunchtime), less so. It wasn't busy, therefore initially, we were served quickly with drinks and our main course of food. However, from that point it felt like we were forgotten by our waiter. When our plates were cleared, we were not asked if we wanted anything else or a dessert menu. Therefore, we waited to see if anyone would come back. They didn't so I had to go looking for someone to ask for one. It then took ages for our dessert order to be taken and there was no one on the bar to order from either. The desserts (which are quite pricey!) also took ages to arrive. When they did, two of the desserts, which were pudding with custard, were stone cold. So I had to send them back. Again, I had to go and find someone to do this. So a bit of a mixed experience. On the positive side, they have 25% off food vouchers Jan-Mar 26, which we took advantage of, and the food (other than our dessert mishap this time) is usually good. On the negative, some of the staff could do a better job service-wise.

Great food and efficient and friendly service. There were 6 of us and we all got our food quickly. Really enjoyed our meal, thank you.

Great service and lovely food.

My first visit on Christmas Eve. Was on my own and my two dogs. Very friendly wasvery busy, but the service was brillant. The food was brillant and not waiting long before it arrived. Food was fantastic. Would highly rate it. Loved it.

Hadn't been here for a while but will be back again soon. Monday evening so probably quieter than weekend but everything was perfect. Staff were very polite and attentive, food was excellent, wine chilled just right. Father Christmas was there so lots of children early in the evening and staff were quick to stop them running around where others were dining. No great problem to us but could have got in the way if staff bringing hot food. Great decor for Christmas. Highly recommend this place. Veg was a bit simple and would expect lemon wedge with scampi but otherwise perfect.

We visited on 19th dec 2025 for lunch well what can i say the food was very tasty the only think was i had the chicken dish and didn't come with veg which for me was a little disappointing, the staff were lovely, look forward to my next visit

Visited with family for a meet up before Christmas. Great atmosphere..warm and welcoming environment. Staff were fantastic and attentive. Food was delicious and very good value for money.

First visit for Sunday lunch with a friend and we were not disappointed. The pub is comfortable, warm and inviting. Plenty of choice on the menu and all staff were friendly and helpful. We both went for the roast beef and it was one of the best Sunday dinners I’ve ever had. Will return soon as this pub is a little gem.
