Fifty Four – Lytham St. AnnesA few issues with booking, called a couple of weeks ago to make a special food request after availability showed online- was told over the phone that they were full despite it saying otherwise on the website but all following weekends there was availability so that was a bit confusing. Booked the afternoon tea online for the following weekend as advised there was availability (slots showed as available on the website) and was then called to say they were full- I asked if they could squeeze afternoon tea for two and the chef said he could…. so was grateful for that and then was asked to pay in full over the phone. Maybe for afternoon tea it should be telephone booking only to prevent this confusion? Food was excellent everything very fresh with great variety and servers talked us through everything. Brought a relative as a special treat and she decided she wanted lemonade instead of unlimited tea, was charged for the lemonade upon leaving despite either of us being served any tea what so ever - could understand if it was an alcoholic drink however surely a small lemonade would cost the same as tea. Such a shame as the food was excellent and setting is lovely but the service and complicated booking process let it down for us.
