Great Western – Gloucesteralways an enjoyable experience. friendly staff, good food, relaxed atmosphere.
Prezzo – GloucesterI can only confirm the previous recommendation, I have enjoyed the food of Peter (the owner of The ugly Duckling), even before he opened his own restaurant, so I can vouch for his food.Sadly I have now moved from the area and can honestly say that I haven't enjoyed a meal as much as Peter's since I left. I have been back and it only makes me feel I shouldn't have left the area as we used to eat there up to 5 times a week, so really really miss him. I must also just say that the staff are the most friendly you'll find anywhere, always a smile and excellent service. See you soon again Peter.
Ugly Duckling – GloucesterWe had a fantastic weekend at Upper Court, ate well ( meal booked with James), walked - Bredon Hill and did some art - pottery and printmaking ( all of the family) . A great get away weekend highly recommended.
Upper Court – Cheltenhambar nine was a great experience. It was the service and atmosphere that was so defining. the food is adventurous. i had a great kleftico. highly recommend.
The Ale House – StroudOn the whole nice food, but extremely overpriced. Unfortunately you are made to wait an unacceptably long time for your main course, to which an insincere apology follows, and as a patron you are told 'sorry our chef forgot about you', which seems unfair to the chef to be blamed for what seems to be the incompetence of (what can only be described as;) the woman masquerading as the proprietor. Whom one would've assumed surely would make efforts to discretely rectify such an oversight. We found to our amazement that when we raised the issue about the unacceptable level of time we'd had to wait, citing that we would not expect to pay for the full bill, you are met with arguments and accusations from the the woman (masquerading as the proprietor) who advised us that as a gesture of goodwill she would deduct the cost of only one glass of wine, and proceeded to bellow at us to never come back! Suffice it to say the waiting staff and chef were not the issue, but the woman masquerading as the proprietor was, which up until her inhospitable intervention ruined our entire evening. So on the whole you are paying over £75 for a two course meal for two, and to be insulted should you dare to raise a complaint!
Old Passage Inn – GloucesterSimple WOW!
Wild Duck – CirencesterPleasant location, excellent choice of food and of very good quality.
Crown of Crucis Hotel – CirencesterWe went to the india lounge for the first time recently, and i have to say the food was excellent! Definitely the best Indian cuisine that i have tasted! the service is also very good . the place has the atmosphere of an upmarket restaurant instead of the average Indian restaurant. Loved it!
India Lounge – CheltenhamThis restaurant is a little gem. It's not the most glamorous, and maybe lacking in atmosphere, but that is made up for by the quality of the food. Everything is fresh, seasonal, local, beautifully presented and expertly cooked. And the value for money is extraordinary. Unfortunately, I live in London. If the Ugly Duckling were my local, I'd eat there every week! As it is, I've had to make do with four visits over two weekends.
Ugly Duckling – GloucesterFood ok, but obnoxious landlord who threw us out for complaining about the volume of the piped music. To be avoided. Rick G
Fox Inn – CheltenhamThis restaurant is excellent. The 'eat as much as you like' selection is outstanding and prepared individually not just presented in self service troughs. Staff friendly and helpful. Go early or book as very popular. Rick G
Blossom Chinese Restaurant – GloucesterI have been eating at this place for a good few years and have always had really nice food. The owner Andy is very friendly and will always make sure you are well fed :-)
Wonderfood Noodle Bar – GloucesterAn excellent restaurant with cosy surroundings. Food displaying a high standard for local and seasonal produce and passion. Well run family style service with a fair price too.
5 North St – Cheltenhamfound a place which i really like the food is excellent not cheap but also not over priced staff are friendly and a good laugh when serving.party of 15+ they insist that you pre-order and a deposit is required(shame but you can't blame them)7/10
The New Inn – Frampton Cotterellnot very nice chips was hard.steak over cooked
White Lion – ThornburyI thought the food at the knot was lovely. Very reasonable prices, and quality food. Best place in Thornbury for traditional home cooked food. And the sunday dinners were delicious!!!
Knot Of Rope The – ThornburyPossibly the best place to eat locally if you want authentic (and non-pub) food. Competitively priced, with good service. Booking advised on Fri/Sat for peace of mind. I'm not entirely sure about the interior decor, but its a pleasant distraction from the rest that Thornbury has to offer.
