I don't know how long ago "Paul" wrote his review - or if he is in fact an owner but in July 2013 I found that the fish sold here is very thin, quite scrappy and has its skin on. Even the largest sized portion sold is miniscule compared to the standard sized portions served in the average fish and chip shop.My complaint was met only with argument - hardly good customer service - and several more scrappy looking, small,thin fillets of cod being waved at me - which confirmed my fear that this was the norm!I was bitterly disappointed in the both the value of the unsatisfactory meal I bought there and the customer service. NEVER again!

Change of management - Use to use for evening meals, lunches, and takeaways. Since change of management and some staff a couple of years ago has gone completely downhill. Food generally poor: tasteless, under seasoned, unimaginative. Have given up using completely.

Lovely pub with a great pubby atmosphere and superb pies. Great Log fire too!

Great food and I regularly dine as I live local.

Had a very nice meal yesterday 27 oct 8pm. Food was great ,staff were as always very nice and friendly. The only thing that spoiled the eve was we had to sit away from the main restaurant and were all freezing cold which indeed spoiled the evening. So unless we eat in the main restaurant I would not want to go again which is a shame.

Myself and three friends one who knew where the pub was arrived to the pub at noon on mothers day, even though they were busy the landlord gave us a great welcome so we stayed for our lunch which was great and not ale but Guinness. Was a great visit thank you

thank you Henry for a great evening on Friday sorry if i embarrassed you with me falling to sleep iv never done that before but believe me we had a good time!!!!!! the food was top notch and the service too was top notch and thank you Henry for driving us home we would love to come back again so i can show you i can stay awake!!!!!! it must of been the wine!!!! stick to the beers next time cheers again Henry hope to see you in the not so distant future

Fab meal in ship inn last year ! Lovely breakfast , myself , hubby & 2 girls 10 & 19 .Loved the charm / character of pub , old worlde nice sleep in Premier lodge next door .Alice 10 is a Coeliac & very good choice for her !!

Excellent, from the complimentary soup to the cheese and biscuits. What a choice of flavours. I'd recommend to everyone.

Had the best Jalfrezi I have had in an Indian restaurant. The chicken was fresh not frozen as in most similar restaurants. Very friendly efficient service as well. Price was surprisingly cheap considering quality. The only complaint I have is the truly awful carpet on the stairs on the way up to this first floor restaurant. It creates a terrible impression that could may some diners turn and leave the restaurant. I am glad I continued up! First impressions are not always the right ones...

We recently visited India Lodge and were met by friendly staff and a pleasant ambience.The chicken tikka ordered . was a main was very under seasoned and extremely dry .I did address this whilst my guest ordered a rogan josh.The rogan josh had lamb underneath with the tomato and onion sauce on top.This again was unseasoned without excellent Indian flavours and unfortunately tasted more like Dormio..I came to the conclusion that although the restaurant is nice the let down was in our main courses.It even crossed my mind the the customers may prefer or not actually know what a true Indian tastes like.I will say the rice was lovely and so too was the nan bread.Will I return...unfortunately not and it`s on my doorstep.
