Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsWe had eaten here on a previous trip to Lakeland (a year ago) and the Sunday lunch was great. This year we came on Wednesday Erving with my parents (7 of us altogether) and unfortunately it was a different story. Food was very poor quality (rubbery burgers, undercooked fish, cremated beans). One meal was completely missed and my partner had his meal after the rest of us had finished. Food seemed to be being sent back to the kitchen from multiple diners. Such a shame as the actual pub is nice and makes a change from the caravan site. We won’t go back there for food again.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsFirst visit here, warm welcome. Pub was clean and tidy with lovely atmosphere. Food was usual pub grub, very nice, hot and no long waits for service. Would go back.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsWonderful evening in a beautiful venue, friendly and efficient staff, amazing food and wine so will definitely book for future events. Thank you
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsI booked a table on line, we arrived and wasn't expected as the WiFi had gone down. We were told we could eat but they could only take cash. The staff didn't really know what they were doing, we ordered but the food wasn't good, it was as though it had been pre cooked and then heated up from left overs. We just ate paid and left.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsGreat pub

Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsWe visit Harry’s for the first evening meal yesterday and was very impressed. The dishes are chosen in advance which is good as avoids making decisions on the day. The food was excellent, portion sizes were perfect for us not being too big. A special mention to the staff who were very friendly

Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsWow!!! It’s always a lottery when trying to find somewhere for a good Sunday roast but we need look no longer! We had the roast beef cooked to our liking and was very tender the vegetables were amazing never had cauliflower cheese like this real cheese and a crispy topping, carrots cooked to perfection and roasties too with fabulous gravy too, just so many flavours we didn’t want it to end but dessert was stunning panna cotta with honey raspberries champagne jelly and toffee popcorn never tasted anything like it just stunning, can’t wait o go back Staff we very friendly and helpful
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsThe Sunday lunch at Harry’s at Yew Tree Barn was absolutely superb. Quality tender perfectly cooked beef and delightfully crispy Yorkshire Pudding but it was the vegetables which really exceeded our expectations being deliciously prepared and finished with tasty seasonings and were dishes in their own right. The Pavlova dessert was beautifully presented and delicious. Being local we have eaten at most of the well know country Sunday lunch restaurants in the Lake District and we both agree that Harry’s is simply the best. We will be back and can’t wait to try out the new evening supper menu.
