I approached the owner at the end of the meal to say how much we had enjoyed the food and the whole experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. It appears to be a proprietor run restaurant serving freshly cooked wholesome nourishing food. Excellent.

I've dined in most places in Grasmere, Lews's is by far the best in ALL respects. It is just pity it is not open every day. The food shows imagination and is very much value for money. Will be back for sure

An outstanding restaurant with food and staff to match. We booked here while visiting the Lakes for my wife’s birthday, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. Fine dining done exceptionally well. From start to finish, everything was flawless. The food was absolutely outstanding—each dish beautifully presented and full of flavour. The pork belly and Eccles cakes were superb, and the seabass was simply amazing. Every plate impressed. The staff were equally excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. We all agreed it was the nicest meal we’ve had out in quite some time. A truly memorable food experience, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others

We looked forward to dining here but there was a technical hitch in the kitchen which admittedly can happen anywhere. After ordering then waiting over an hour for our food we were offered complimentary nibbles which were very nice, thank you. We both ordered the lamb rump but unfortunately when it did arrive it was tough and very disappointing, certainly not worth the money.

Always a treat to eat at Lewis's. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Good choices for GF. Speed of service judged perfectly and prices on a par with other local restaurants.

We had a wonderful meal at Lewis's Bistro so much so that we booked again for the next night and were not disappointed. The first night I had steak and my wife had the salmon and the second night we both had the lamb, we could not fault any of them they were excellent. The desserts did not disappoint either the sticky toffee pudding and the Eccles cake were absolutely delicious. We shall not hesitate to return here next time we are in Grasmere. Thank you all.

Looking for somewhere to eat In Grasmere I chose Lewis Bistro simply from looking online. We were not disappointed. Good atmosphere, very friendly staff and , most importantly, excellent food. Would definitely return if we find ourselves in Grasmere.

Good meal overall. Much improved on last year when the good was poor but not yet reclaimed the standards of previous years.

We had a lovely welcome and although we arrived early we were seated straight away. The staff were really friendly and efficient. We both had lamb which was perfect and delicious, as was the Chianti ! We will definitely recommend and return when we are in the area again.

Dinner here last night. Salmon so overcooked it was inedible. Ordered eton mess for dessert. No meringue! Just a bowl of mush. Couldn't eat. Price taken off total bill and waitress asked what was wrong with it as she made it. Would've thought this was the chefs job or she should at least have been instructed how to make it. Salmon easy to cook and eton mess couldn't be easier to make. Won't be back. So many better places for food in grasmere.

Staff were really lovely. Enjoyed being close to other tables as it allowed/encouraged chat. Nice to see lots of young families. Only tiny note but food could have been hotter. Thanks

We always visit Lewis’s twice during our annual stay in the Lakes. Fabulous food and exceptional service. A unique small friendly family run restaurant. Wish we had one nearer home! Favourite Dish each visit - Eccles Cake pudding Best Meal this year- Steak with Peppercorn Sauce Everything is excellent - fresh, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you
