Thank you all for a very tasty meal on Friday last. There were four in our party and all expressed their appreciation in the food presentation and especially the taste. Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereA small restaurant gem in the heart of Grasmere. This is the third time we have eaten at Lewis's Bistro and the standard of food remains consistently high. There is not an extensive choice (which is to be welcomed) as that means that what they do offer is cooked and presented very well. It is always full whenever we have eaten there with a mixed clientele from families to couples or all ages. Would recommend for anyone visiting Grasmere - but you need to book ahead.

We did have to wait a few minutes for our table, which we didn’t mind at all, and the staff were very apologetic for the wait. Anyway the wait was worth it. The food was exceptional. We both had Sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection. So nice to get some fresh mixed vegetables along with the chunky chips, mushroom and vine tomatoes.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereBooked a table for five of us for 8pm and our table was not ready, this is not a huge problem but we felt awkward standing around by other diners. The starters were nice, although arrived before we’d finished with the bread and olives. Three of us had sea bass with what were supposed to be sauté potatoes. The potatoes were large boiled in their skins and slightly brown on one side, not sautéed. The vegetables were overcooked and not very exciting. The staff were very pleasant but the meal itself was disappointing and not worth the money we paid.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe found this little bistro quite by chance on our visit to Grasmere, and what a find it was. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, the staff were welcoming and attentive and the whole atmosphere was pleasantly relaxing. We thought the menu may have been priced a little on the high side...until we tasted our meals! The quality of the food and the presentation was some way ahead of other establishments we had eaten at locally and was very much worth paying for, especially as my gluten free diet was so we'll catered for (save yourself for the desserts!). We thought this was a little gem of a place and if you are in the Grasmere area and enjoy genuinely good food and service, you should give it a try.

The service was great and very accommodating, especially as a couple of our group arrived slightly late due to an ill baby. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe were looking forward to the filet steak but it wasn’t on so quite disappointed. Waited nearly 50mins for some garlic bread as a starter. We arrived at 6:20 for 6:30. The tables were too close together to feel relaxed. The wine and vegetables were lovely and the meat was perfectly acceptable. The desert order was too slow so we had ice cream at home. I think just too many covers at once and not having the advertised choices. Shame. It was fabulous last year.
