We made a reservation for on January 19th for a table for 4 at 1900hrs February 28th. I received confirmation of the booking straight away and I also received a reminder of the booking on February 27th 24 hours prior to the booking. We turned up at 1845 on February 28th for our meal only to find the restaurant closed. I phoned the restaurant and was told by the bloke who answered that their oven had broken so they were closed. He said they had called all people who had booked tables, MUST have missed me. When I told him this he offered me a bottle of wine on our next booking. No chance. Our hotel and some other establishments were fully booked but we were extremely fortunate that The Jumble Room had a cancellation and squeezed us in, fantastic place, fantastic food.

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the outstanding quality of the food. We ordered the Chicken Supreme and the Lamb, and both dishes were cooked to perfection. The chicken was tender and flavorful, served with a rich, well-balanced sauce, while the lamb was beautifully prepared, full of depth and perfectly seasoned. The portion sizes were generous, leaving us fully satisfied without feeling overwhelmed. Service was another standout aspect of our visit. The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring we were well looked after throughout our meal. Food arrived promptly, and we appreciated the genuine warmth and professionalism of the team. The only small downside was being seated near the door, where it could get a little chilly when it opened. If possible, we’d recommend requesting a table further inside for a more comfortable experience. That said, this was a minor issue in what was otherwise a fantastic meal. Overall, Lewis’s Bistro delivers excellent food, great portion sizes, and top-tier service. We’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality dining experience.

We all ordered different things off the menu and we all really enjoyed our meals from start to finish. Portions are decent in size so we all left full. Only disappointment was we didn’t have room left for desserts!

Lewis’s Bistro – Grasmereone of the best meals I've had in a long time. We both loved the friendly welcome and the cosy setting. The food was delightful - my sea bass was cooked to perfection and the accompanying veg were really good, not overly crunchy as appears to be the modern way. Just wish Grasmere was a bit closer - we'd be there once a week! Thank you - we've had quite a few mediocre meals recently and this was outstanding.
