Wow, we loved the two nights we ate here! We highly recommend this bistro for delicious food cooked to perfection. The fillet steaks were the best we have ever had - juicy & full of flavour. The Sea Bass were tasty and well presented. Service was excellent. When we next visit Grasmere we will certainly visit again.

An unassuming little hideaway offering a surprisingly extensive menu. The food was both excellent and plentiful with the service being friendly and attentive. We visited on a quiet day (hence the reduced score), but when full, I'm sure the place would be buzzing. Wish we had found it sooner - but we'll certainly be back again next visit.

Had a really lovely starters (garlic mushrooms) and dinner (fillet steak) yesterday. Both delicious but the fillet steak was cooked to perfection (med to well). Hubby had black sausage and pork belly, both v good Also ice cream pud shared. Great atmosphere had lovely nite. Server's nice. Bit more expensive than the pubs but worth it.

First visit but a really good find and we will certainly eat here again. The food was delicious, I had belly pork which was drop to bits tender. My daughter had chicken which was also beautifully cooked. All the accompaniments were of an equally high standard. After a starter and a main course we were too full to have a desert. My only criticism is that the portions were too large particularly the belly pork. I am only too aware of people in this world of ours are starving. I felt really guilty leaving so much food on my plate.

What a find! We had a great evening in Lewis Bistro this week. On a Tuesday night we wondered if it might be quiet - not a bit of it, several tables were turned over twice while we had dinner. Great service, delicious food, generous portions - highly recommended. Booking is a must - no walk-ins available on the night we visited.

Third time we have visited here for an evening meal. Gorgeous food, looked after us really well, even the dog got a treat. See you both next year, thank you.

Visited on a Saturday evening for 8.15 service. Booked in advance as a result of recommendation by friends. Just as well as the sign on door said it was fully booked. We were shown to our table in the window, the best table in the house in our opinion. Both the staff who dealt with us, the one who showed us to our table and the one taking our order were friendly and professional despite the place being very busy. The wine was ordered and arrived quickly. We decided against starters; my partner had the surf and turf and I had the fillet steak with a peppercorn sauce. Both dishes were delicious and the steaks were tender and cooked exactly as we’d ordered. By the time we’d ate them we were full and couldn’t manage desserts. That was not a problem and the staff left us until we were ready to leave. The prices were on a par with what is charged locally and I had no complaints. Would certainly visit again

We enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal during our recent visit to grasmere. Everything was cooked to perfection and possibly the best salted caramel cheesecake I have ever tasted. The team were exactly as they should be pleasant, friendly eager to deliver a perfect service. Definitely visit again on our next trip.

We ate here two nights in a row. The first night we both had belly pork which was lovely. I asked if they offered a single person cheeseboard as my husband did not eat cheese, but they said no. So I declined a final course, but my husband had a desert and everything was very nice. We went to pay the bill on our card and the server asked if we would like to leave a tip, which was not appreciated as we always leave a tip in cash on the table or in a tip basket. However, on this occasion we did include the tip on the card, but I felt it was very rude approach. We returned the next day and had rack of lamb which consisted of two tiny, rib bones of meat, a very large potato which was not completely cooked, 1 carrot and some sprigs of broccoli. At £27.00 this was overpriced. We both had a desert, but we were both still hungry. Consequently we did not return for a third night. Overall pretty average and if this restaurant had more competition they would need to up their game with customer service and consistency with quality of food.

An excellent meal. We shared olives and bread for starters, both had roast rack of lamb, and then the bakewell tart and the eccles cake with ice cream. It was all delicious in a friendly, relaxed environment.

First time eating here and it was an excellent discovery. The food is the main reason to come here, and each course was superb. The scallops starter here were as good as I've had at a Michelin star taster menu, cooked perfectly and so soft. The main was a little unexpected, by that I mean it was larger than expected, which was a good thing. Seabass was beautifully cooked and the vegetables were plentiful. I still had room for dessert and both the choices at our table were really good. For service, the gap from being seated to our drinks order being taken was a little long but apart from that really good service all night. The atmosphere was also really good for a bistro in a village, had the more formal dining feel but not pretentious in any way. I also liked that dogs were allowed, we didn't have ours but I feel this is essential in the Lake District with everywhere expected to allow them (this was helped by the dogs in there being very well behaved). We will definitely be returning here next time we are in the area. We ate in the Daffodil hotel the other 2 nights (which was very good) but this meal was the best we had this week.

This was the second time that our party of six had dined here and the food and service was, again, very good. One of our party is Gluten intolerant and there was no problem accommodating her dietary requirements. We were not staying at the hotel but, nonetheless, were made to feel very welcome by the friendly and efficient staff.

We loved our evening at Lewis’s Bistro. The food was exceptional and the service impeccable. Not keen on dogs in restaurants so hence atmosphere marked down slightly. Would definitely recommend.
