Loved the ambience but the food was the real winner! Fantastic quality and quantity. Thoroughly recommend a visit but make sure you book.

Excellent small Bistro with a good menu. Quality of food was very good, I had a fillet steak which was as good as I have eaten in a long time. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Glad we looked on line before travelling and booked this venue.

Wonderful small bistro...make sure you book in plenty of time. Great menu and food delicious and always piping hot, large portions too, much appreciated by my sons. The staff are lovely. We always try to book in when we are in Grasmere.

We enjoyed our two meals at Lewis's. The food was cooked well and portions were reasonable. Something on the menu for both of us. The staff were friendly and service good. One personal reflection was that the choice of desserts didn't quite chime with the nature of starters and mains. While sticky toffee pudding is popular and I can see why it would be on the menu, the other selections were also very sweet and heavy eg treacle and lemon curd tart, eccles cake with treacle (theme here?) cheesecake and chocolate cake etc. Perhaps less treacle?

Excellent restaurant, our waitress was lovely and very helpful. The portion size was large which we appreciated after a day hiking. Everything was beautifully cooked and we had an excellent bottle of wine. Would highly recommend. Will definitely return here in the future.

Fabulous find. We booked last minute and can’t fault it in any way. Highly recommend the food and ambiance,

2nd time here. Atmosphere still good. But owner was not cooking and my sea bass was a totally different dish to when he was. Sauce poured over the fish making the skin soggy not crispy as it had been before. Supposed to be served with samphire but only a minute amount a teaspoonful. Other vegetables on the plate very soggy. Lobster sauce not very pleasant. So disappointed as had really been looking forward to the night based on our first visit. Also dead flowers in the window boxes not a good look.

Lovely fish dish, and excellent cheeseboard (i had the blue, the smoked, and the brie). White wine was really good too

Lovely atmosphere and really attentive staff. Nice choice of food and wine and I picked a great steak. Expertly cooked with great chunky chips. Fantastic and great value for money. When back in the area this will be on my list for a return visit.

Had an amazing meal here...Stopped in a highly rated hotel for a few nights in Grasmere and decided to try somewhere different to eat on our last night, wish we had found it sooner!! The whole experience was brilliant and far superior to the food in our 5 star hotel. Will definitely be returning and more than happy to give this 5 stars.

We had an lovely evening here and enjoyed our food, drink and the relaxing atmosphere. Our second time here, we have been waiting to return post covid, and will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Great service too.

Finger prints on all the glasses, wine glasses looked like they'd been on 100s of dishwasher cycles... cloudy and again, full of finger prints. The food... order steak medium, came like shoe leather, chips were dry but the pepper sauce was good and peppery. My partner ordered the belly Pork which was AMAZING. such potential let down buy detail

We were extremely pleased with our meal. The food was excellent quality and fresh. The service was very good and the overall ambiance.

During our trip to Ambleside we happened upon Lewis’s Bistro. What a find! Fantastic food. We had the steak and the lamb, however DO NOT MISS the STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING. Our server was a local lad with an hysterical, dry sense of humor and a cheeky smile. The entire experience was top notch. Treat yourself!!!!

Food was good and well presented. Service was very efficient possibly slightly too much as main course came out almost as soon as starter was cleared. Meals on pricey side. Billed for an extra glass of wine, amended when pointed out, but shouldn't really have happened as on two of us and only 4 drinks consumed.

Wonderful little bistro that allows dogs. A real treat as we normally have to eat in pubs. The food was divine and the service was excellent. When they found out we'd just got engaged they discounted our bill. A really lovely gesture as they didn't have to do that. Would definitely return when we're next in Grasmere.
