This was our first time at The Lodge and assuming all goes well in the future, it won’t be our last. There are still a number of procedures in place for Covid and that helped with our experience. We learned after our meal that all the staff with the exception of the manager were new within the last month, which was a surprise as you really couldn’t tell, the service, attention to you and to detail, friendliness and professionalism was excellent. After a long days walking we opted for the Black Pudding Bon Bon’s and Arancini light bites as starters followed by Rib eye steak for our mains. Having been to the home of Arancini I’ve yet to find a place who can match the taste and texture, but these were very good, however they were eclipsed by the Bon Bon’s if these hadn’t have been the last I’d have simply cancelled the steak and filled up with these, they were amazing. The steaks arrived and as with the starter it was well cooked (to our order) and well presented, whether it was because we were hungry, or because the food and service was excellent the whole experience was flawless, I think it was the latter. All the staff worked hard, we’re polite and attentive offering a level of service others could learn from. It would be difficult to pick anyone out as offering a stand out service as they were all good. Would we go back, of course.

We had a lovely meal for my birthday. There were seven of us, we chose from the more limited Sunday menu. The starters were interesting, really tasty and the mains were fab. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The service was great, the place was looking great and the atmosphere was lovely.

It was a triple birthday celebration and, from the moments arrived to the second we left, it could not have been better. Perfect food, perfect atmosphere and perfect service! We will be visiting again soon! Thank you for a special day!

Lovely meal to celebrate A level and GCSE results. Good vegan and vegetarian options. The vegan onion burger was ace. Maybe even more vegan options required. Always love the atmosphere; very relaxed and the serving staff are lovely. One small thing is that I like to be able to ask for a drink to be brought to the table rather than having to get up in the middle of the meal (as you used to do). Otherwise excellent as ever and the beer was great.

Literally the best Roast Dinner I’ve ever had. 10/10. Young man serving was nice. I think they forgot the ice cream off the Sticky Toffee pudding but the portion was that large didn’t bother to mention.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive, many thanks to Will for making us so welcome. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Awful experience. Booked 2 days in advance. Arrived 30 mins early. Shown to a sticky table. Others had reserved on them. Lad said he’d bring menus over. No cutlery or anything. After 15 mins of being ignored we walked out. No contact after dumping us at the table. Showed others to reserved tables walking past us each time. General state was dirty and smacked of a lot of young kids playing at serving a bar. My advice, don’t touch it

Great service and great food. Plenty of choice of food and drink. Staff all knowledgeable about all of the food and drink available. Would definitely recommend

Amazing food and top service. We had the chicken Kiev which was so good! Was sat in the far end of the pub, there was large group when arrived which added the the atmosphere but when they left we felt a little abandoned as it is very quiet at that end of the building. Didn’t ruin our night though.

Excellent food & service on a recent visit for an evening Sunday meal. So glad the Lodge has reopened. Will definitely be visiting again soon

We went twice recently (July 2021) because we wanted somewhere nice and had open air dining as one of the family needed to avoid indoors for medical reasons. The staff were all helpful and friendly and no one complained about the food — it was fine. Eating out attracts the odd wasp though.
