Very, very ordinary. A Gordon Ramsey check--out is needed here. Garlic bread too soft. Pasta overcooked and completely covered with a basic sauce. The soup was over-laden with a vinegar taste. Tony piece of monk fish at a high price. Very naff condiments on the table. Had to ask for parmesan cheese! Waiters very pleasant but untrained. No surprise the restaurant was almost empty on a Friday evening. The management needs a wake-up call.

Etnas holds a special place in our hearts - we had our first real date here - we always enjoy visiting, the staff are 1st class professionals without being too over the top - the owner is a true delight always willing to chat to all the customers! - The food is the ultimate delight and is always consistent as well as fairly priced. To recommend a dish isn't too difficult - Lemon Chicken everytime. Incidentally we now visit at least once a month - its a shame they can't cater for our wedding!

Discovered Etna on Saturday evening during a visit to Lancaster. To call it Pizza/Pasta is to undersell this place - yes the pasta was great, but it really is a proper Italian Restaurant with a full menu of what, going by our experience, is excellent, top quality, meat/fish/pasta etc, cooked to the highest standard. The best Italian food I've had in years - topped by a great atmosphere and a very convivial host. Reasonable prices, good wine list etc - I only wish they were in London where live - I'd be there every week.

Visited the Stork Inn this afternoon, It was a perfect spring afternoon, Drove from Blackpool through some of Lancashires most beautiful countryside with the hood down. On arriving we found a table in the restaurant/bar area. It had a varied menu with good vegetarian options. There was also a specials menu and it offers good choice for families as most dishes have half size price options with them, great for kids or for grazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 hours rather than the planned 1 hour stop! This place was recommended by tourism professionals who told us this place was a little different. THINGS I LIKED- -Friendly staff and family run. (felt like a local after 10 mins!) -Traditional style country pub -Prompt and attentive service -An excellent varied menu with veg and family options. -Unique South African traditional cuisine -All food prepared and cooked on the premises Inc awesome sweets. THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE- -I had to go home! OVERVIEW- -This place is one to watch, I was told that they are planning BBQ's and have lots of ideas to keep customers interest.

I will start firstly by saying what a pleasant dining experience I had on my first visit to the Stork Inn, I went early yesterday afternoon expecting to wait for my meal but to my delight It took 10 minutes at most for my food to arrive, I had a curry and it was perfect and at a very competitive price! They had a wonderful array of local ales available which I felt obliged to supple!. The service was exquisite and prompt. There was a bit of lark behind the bar but it's expected when hiring young beautiful waitresses. The young stud who served me my food was a lovely young man named Robert who was anything but shy, he added to what was a lovely afternoon. I will most certainly be making my way to the Stork Inn, in the near future and hope it will continue to be a most pleasurable experience!

My wife and I have been enjoying terrific food at the Kingfisher for years. Chef owner Mike Thomson delivers a consistently good product along with his wife Anne who runs a very efficient front of house operation. You’ll get top class ingredients cooked to perfection - last week we enjoyed a starter of Breakfast salad - smoked bacon, local black pudding & sautéed new potatoes on dressed leaves & finished with a soft poached egg - it was absolutely delicious. For main course my wife had delicious Grilled Plaice (almost out of the bay onto your plate) and I enjoyed the Fish Pie ( full of a selection of white fish, salmon and prawns). There is always a nice selection of fresh vegetables, new potatoes and do try the wonderful chips. We didn’t have room for a sweet last week but they are always very good. There is a very reasonably priced wine list too. As if this isn’t enough for a good night (or lunch) out you have a very modern bright and airy split level restaurant with picture windows taking full advantage of the fantastic views over the estuary to Grange and the Lakeland hills. Take a look at the web site for up to date menus and some nice photos of the restaurant. It really is well worth the trip I promise you and one final tip, if you plan to visit at weekend book ahead.

Awful, truly the worst dish ever. We came in slightly earlier than planned and volunteered to sit anywhere that was convenient. The waiter growled at my wife and I. After this, we were then served a cardboard part-frozen pizza complete with cold chips...obviously everything had been taken from the freezer and quickly microwaved. The service throughout was snotty, slow and depressing. We paid the bill (which was extortionate) and have commited ourselves to never walking through the front door again. This used to be such a great place to dine, what has happened over the last year? Bad service, rancid food and just awful.

In the midst of this credit crunch this place is packed! that tells you something, it must be good. people are going out less and only going places that offer a great product at this time. I had a great lunch and will be going back!

Hello Readers, I must say I had a delightful experience at the Stork Inn, The food was divine and the service sublime. Although If I had slight misfortune it was meeting a young member of staff at the bar, I tried ordering a round of drinks and he blatantly ignored me, I asked to see the manager and I was told to f**k off, I asked a waitress his name and was told it was Rob Jacques, however, I wasn't about to allow one bad member deter my attention away from the extravagant meal I was about to embark upon. What a lovely experience I will surely visit again.

We visited the Fleece on a Saturday night in February 2009 for drinks in the bar followed by a meal in the separate restaurant room. The Fleece is a traditional many roomed pub at Dolphinholme with a central bar serving very well kept cask ales. There were 6 beers on hand pump, all from different breweries, including Bowland and Clark’s. The restaurant had a reasonably priced printed menu along with various Starter and Mains “Specials” listed on a blackboard. The Mains “Specials” were around £10-£15 for the likes of “Chicken Breast with Chorizo Mash and Field Mushrooms in a Marsala sauce”. A Sea Bass dish was also on. Deserts included a gorgeous “Crème Brulee of the day” and Lakeland Ices. The pub was busy but service was very prompt and friendly, and the food really was excellent. It was a cut above the normal pub grub around Lancaster, although not up to the nearby Bay Horse standard, but also not as expensive. All-in-all a good old-fashioned pub serving good beer and well above average food.

4 of us went here after a long sunday walk. As the weather was blustering outside, the warmth inside of that of the staff and the cosy surroundings, made it the perfect haven.. After initially having a drink... we eventually opted for some food... you can usually look around the place and if its quiet and people are tucking in, its usually a good sign. I went for the south african sausage baguette which was vet tasty, my friends shared a plate of the sausage with mash.. the plate devoured like a lion tucking into a springbok... even the baby was well catered for. Not by the lions that is. would recommend to anyone. With a good selection of local ales.. will be back

Saturday 17th January 2009 I took my girlfriend Cassy and her daughter Fran and boyfriend Dwain to Etna's for my birthday bash. I can only say the food and service were excellent and we will be paying another visit in the near future. The food was cooked to perfection, hot and well prepared. May I say thank you for making my birthday bash a night to remember. JJ

I have been to Crows a few times over the years and been quite happy with it however a group of 4 of us went on New years eve and were quite disappointed. the food was very good but it was completely ruined by the service. We were left for half an hour with empty plates in front of us and generally the service was very slow and unenthusiastic. It was not very busy and to top it off we could see the staff acting daft rather than getting on with serving. It was a shame as we have always enjoyed ourselves at crows.

I recently attended Bar 1725 with a group of 6 friends, this meal was looked forward to as all of us had previously enjoyed tapas meals. We began to be a bit dubious after hearing reviews from others, and all I can say is that we were right to be dubious! First of all they tried to fit 7 people around a table that would just about fit 6. We all ordered our food and despite efforts to order together for the same table the staff flitted between others waiting and didn't put our order through at the same time. The food came out in dribs and drabs, a friend of mine had actually finished his whole meal before I was even served! You'd think they'd have the common sense to work out that at a table of 7 bring the orders out near to each other! The food was poor, the potatoes were undercooked and crunchy, 4 people had ordered bread, only to be told half way through waiting for the meal that they did not have any, I was looking forward to the bread as well, it might have actually felt like I'd eaten something. In addition to this they also confused the order and failed to bring out 4 dishes until we queried it, there response: oh, well you should have ordered everything together. (I was so annoyed at this as we had tried but the staff were very unhelpful) We seriously considered not paying for this atrocious meal, and I would not recommend the restaurant.

I recently dined at Penny Street Bridge and I would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Lancaster. The food was very good, still hot when it was served and perfectly cooked,to be honest I struggled to finish it all (I did have a 3 course meal though) The staff were friendly and helpful and not at all intrusive only asking once if the meal was ok, this is one of my pet hates at restaurants and I was glad to say the staff were excellent. We were also quickly served at the bar, when purchasing drinks prior to our meal. I would recommend this restaurant
