I booked through the online service, which was easy and quick, with an immediate email confirmation. On arrival, the staff efficiently showed us to our table and offered drinks. The menu was extensive, and the atmosphere relaxed with background music. The food was excellent and plentiful, and there was no need for desserts. The staff throughout our reservation were attentive to our needs, polite and pleasant. We highly recommend a visit.

There were 7 in my party and there was not a single negative comment (which was unusual in itself) The choice in the carvery was the best I have ever had (At least 5 meats) We will have no doubts about calling again if we go to Harrogate.

We had the Sunday Platter, plenty for 4 of us, maybe a little more meat but we were all full at the end. Lovely atmosphere and great service. We’ll be back.

The service was quick and wonderful, staff were kind and very helpful. As always the food was impeccable and exactly as wanted. We love Maxis!

We had lovely evening here as part of a Yorkshire break weekend. The staff were pleasant and the food was great. However, at the foot of the stairs was piled up furniture, this would be better stored out of site. Many customers went up the wrong stairs to the toilets, consider displaying a humorous, light hearted, sign stating something like; 'Unless you a great at French Onion soup, the toilets are not in this direction '. We are lovers of Tiramsuo and often buy it from supermarkets. The one we were served on the night had too many, uncanny, characteristics of our shop bought preferences. If I were a betting man, I would say the desert wasn't produced from scratch in the kitchen.

Always excellent service both at the bar and in the restaurant. Food is very good and served in good time Eat there at least once a week, thanks to all that welcome us each time.

The online booking system was easy to use and worked really well. On arrival(our first time) we were nearly half an hour early but staff soon found us a table. The Sunday carvery system was explained well with the plastic discs. There were four types of meat available and I can say the beef and the pork were superb I don't think I have tasted better. A good choice of vegetables all very well prepared. A really good experience, thank you. On departure there was quite a crowd at reception, some entering, others leaving and staff trying to pass through to serve tables. This aspect was a little disappointing and perhaps needs some attention.

This is a great venue for a traditional Sunday lunch. Quality and quantity was superb as was the warm welcome by Cath and her staff. I would thoroughly recommend The Royal Oak!

The Sunday Carvery was good, as it usually is. Four meats to choose from, plenty of veg and lovely Yorkshire puddings. Only given atmosphere 4 points as it gets very noisy.

Absolutely awesome. Fantastic service, it genuinely felt good to leave a good tip. The food was very tasty and the prices fair, but the exceptional service is what makes this restaurant my new personal favourite.
