I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful Sunday roast at The Craven Arms, and I must say it was an absolute treat. The experience was made even more enjoyable as we sat outside in their picturesque beer garden, basking in the warm sunshine. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the lamb shoulder. It was cooked to perfection, boasting succulent and tender meat that practically melted in my mouth. The flavors were rich and robust, with just the right amount of seasoning to enhance the natural taste of the lamb. First time in the place, all was fine. Beer choice good and IPA that I opted was all i could hope for. Burger choice was good and defo only one chips needed for 2 people. We will be back and staff told us there is secure push bike parking.

Absolutely excellent food. We had dinner and breakfast during a one-night stay. The halloumi salad and lamb hot pot were outstanding for dinner, and the salmon and eggs were perfect for breakfast. The Craven Arms served some of the best food we have had in our two-month tour of England and Wales.

We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea, sat in the lovely dining area overlooking the gardens. Tea was served promptly by our friendly and helpful waitress. All in all a faultless service. The food was delicious, would definitely recommend.

As usual a superb meal at this equally superb Italian... gluten free available too. relatives from isle of Wight just loved it. Always reliable- first class service - not rushed or kept waiting..also very good value . tuesday night and it's full- not an empty table- says it all.

Good food, the prawn stuffed duck is especially good. Portions are generous. Special request made omn online booking was not noted.

Beautiful meal as usual . I had the mushroom tagliatelle, my son a pizza and the boys carbonara. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The only complaint I have is I was too full for a dessert!!

Lovely welcome on our arrival. Smiling engaged staff. Seated upstairs which had a good ambience and staff turned down the slightly intrusive background music without being asked. Food came quickly and was really good. Little bit harder to catch a team member’s attention as the two ladies seemed preoccupied with their phones? Otherwise fabulous and will come again.

Absolutely amazing! A lot of options to choose from and super friendly staff! Will definitely come back while in York!
