Anniversary date - lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Special occasion restaurant, expensive, but worth it!
Brontae’s – HorsforthSunday dinner was slightly disappointing. Leeks not cooked well in veg and belly pork was virtually all fat. Raised pork issue with staff and no real explanation or apology. Rhubarb polenta cake for pudding had no rhubarb. Chicken schnitzel and fish and chips looked great and kids enjoyed. Staff friendly and attentive generally.
Duke Of Wellington – HarewoodAbsolutely love Luna Blu and go pretty regular Food is always great and staff are really friendly. However on this occasion the bottomless brunch we were disappointed with the food maybe it was just personal choice on our behalf. We were a party of 3 and did notice later on that the parties of 2 people got the same size board as us We did get extra bread as we asked for Will not stop us from going as the menu is good and the venue is lovely Shout out to Lewis who is amazing and think it was Gemma too
Luna Blu Cocktails and Tapas – YarmI've previously had very good experiences at Vine, so it was disappointing to receive such poor service on this occasion. I hope that this otherwise very good neighbourhood restaurant will be able to resolve the systemic issues impacting diners. More, or more experienced, front of house staff on the Sunday lunch service seems to be a problem. We booked online, yet the staff did seem a little surprised to see us arrive, and no table was ready. In an otherwise empty dining room we were seated right next to a large and very loud birthday party who were obviously having a great time. I've no issue with that, but it would have been better service to seat our party, which included two young children, further away - as it was we could hardly hear ourselves speak. We were told there was no paper menu or wine list to view. The food menu was on the blackboard on the wall. I asked for a glass of pinot grigio, and was told they had none, and hadn't for several days (there's a Tesco store directly opposite the restaurant), an alternative was suggested. We also ordered jug of tap water for the table. Our food order was taken shortly afterwards, all the Sunday roast options were available (2.30pm) Time passed and we had not received our wine or water for the table. I reminded the staff who soon brought over the water. More time passed, I reminded the team about the wine again. Staff then brought a bottle of wine rather than the single glass I had ordered. Our food arrived and was great, well cooked and presented with the Yorkshire puddings a particular highlight. On their arrival we were asked if we'd like extra gravy, to which we said yes please. By the time we were half way through our meals the extra gravy had not been brought, and we needed to remind staff again. The staff did seem stressed by what ought to have been a simple Sunday lunch service. They were always friendly and polite, but seemed quite overwhelmed. No apology was made for the various issues with our experience. The bill at least did arrive promptly when requested, and was correct (although it already includes a discretionary service charge). Payment was processed quickly and efficiently. Vine has previously been a favourite restaurant, and one I've recommended. On Sunday I felt embarrassed to have recommended Vine to the visiting group of friends I was with. The food is still great, but the service we received will now make me pause before considering returning. Please do better!
Vine – MiddlesbroughLovely food as always.
The Aegean Taverna – HullWe have been visiting The Crown for a few years and have always loved the food, the service and friendly staff. Danni has very high standards and that’s comes across in all aspects of the service. We visiting on Saturday and we were so disappointed! Not sure if Danni is still managing the place or if she has left, or was on holiday but the standards had certainly slipped. We were left waiting a good 10 minutes to be seated, we made a late booking on-line but it hadn’t been picked up, the staff were as friendly as always but we noticed tables hadn’t been cleared from previous customers. We waited for some one to take our drinks order but ended up going to the bar ourselves; then waited a good 15 minutes for our food order retort be taken. We only had light meals, a chicken and bacon salad and starter as main pate and pickle with toasted bread. It took a good half an hour - forty minutes for our food to arrive. Surely there couldn’t have been much to do to prepare our meals. The food was good, as it always is. We did notice there weren’t any specials, which made us wonder if Danni was there anymore. We didn’t bother with a dessert! And the table across from us ordered their food before us and were still waiting for it when we left. Unfortunately it’s unlikely we will return.
The Crown Monk Fryston – GarforthOur first visit to Brooks and it definitely won't be our last. Delicious food, super-attentive and friendly staff and great service. The lovely owner is full of great stories about the dishes and the inspiration behind them. Go - you won't be disappointed!
Brooks – IlkleyExcellent food and great service
Maxis – YorkExcellent service great food lovely atmosphere good value u for money lamb kofte was loverly Mrs had prawn in tomoto sauce with feta was delicious
The Aegean Taverna – HullWhen we arrived we were shown our table and was asked what drinks we’d like even before we’d got sat down. Asked for a few minutes to decide. We ordered our drink and food at the same time. Drink arrived quickly , food took half hour to turn up, then staff kept coming and asking us if we needed any more drinks. Which we did begin to get fed up with. But to be honest Oscars never fail to disappoint and we will return.
Oscars Wine Bar and Bistro – YorkBooked on line for a 3pm slot for Sunday lunch arrived to be greeted asking do I have a reservation I said yes to then be told your not on the list am I sure I’ve booked the right place! I told the lady I booked on the app and was told oh they shouldn’t let you do that when we are running out of food - let me check if there’s a table - while waiting was about to order a drink when she came back and told me there was only belly pork left ! It was not what I wanted so decided to quit while we were ahead and go elsewhere - DONT allow booking online if you cannot accommodate it
Vine – MiddlesbroughBeautifully presented and delicious food, the combinations work really well together and leave you wanting more. The atmosphere/decor is very minimal at you can feel at times either very squashed in, or a feeling of emptiness. However, that wouldn't stop us coming back. It's priced at a level we could only afford for a special treat, but look forward to coming back when we can.
Brontae’s – Horsforth10 out of 10 service ,food ,atmosphere made to feel welcome will be back
The Crown Monk Fryston – GarforthExcellent food. Great customer service.
The Aegean Taverna – HullOur second visit and instantly we were remembered from our first, the staff could not be more genuine and helpful. The owner is the most passionate and amazing woman who will tell you stories of her mother her inspirations and her dedication to this gastronomic feast. The food was even more amazing than I remembered the atmosphere most congenital. Food was cooked with memories of mothers own recipes and enthused with execution of quality and presentation. Succulent pork beef chicken and prawn dishes full of again and Sri Lankan delights. I was transported to the island full of flavour. Amazing food. If I was to make a recommendation it would be to be proud of the authenticity of the food and history and fill the restaurant with authentic sounds and music...transport me to the island of Sri Lanka and beyond.. the food is amazing and deserves the complete ambience it warrants. I will be back a thousand times.
Brooks – IlkleyGreat place to eat. Service is excellent food is really nice with a great choice to suite anybody. Will definitely be back.
Thai Sabai – HeadingleyWe came on a Saturday lunchtime, which was pretty quiet. We were greeted and served by lovely friendly young staff who tried their best to provide a good level of service. I asked for Rosè wine twice and both times was brought white wine (not sure whether The Crown doesn’t have Rosè wine or whether the young staff didn’t understand), however, I didn’t complain because the white wine was nice and I do drink it. Both my parents enjoyed their pies and I think it’s brilliant to offer a small and large version of the pies. However, I had a bacon, Brie and cranberry sandwich with fries as a side. The fries were lovely (too large a portion for one person but my parents helped me eat them, so that was ok) - the sandwich didn’t smell good and the bacon was cold and burnt. Overall, not great but not terrible.
The Crown Monk Fryston – GarforthHad a fab meal. Service was great. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be back again
