My advice is stay well clear. I had been recommended this pub many times for its food and so decided to pop in on the way back from town today. As it was only for a quick one my wife and I just ordered a bowl of chips. After ordering we sat in the beer garden. Very soon after sitting down the chips were brought out to us. We started to dig in but regrettable soon stopped eating as some chips were cold, some hot, some soft and some hard. Since neither of us like to complain much we continued with our drinks. As we were leaving we took the decision to hand the chips back to the landlord/barman (not sure) and let him know. We were not bothered about a refund or another serving, we just thought it would be best for him to know that the quality of the chips was not good. Unbelievable the landlord/barman then started to argue with us as he pinched all the chips with his fingers and asking us where the hard ones were (err I think we ate them, that's why we are politely complaining) and telling us that they will be cold when you sit in the beer garden (despite the fact that some were cold from the moment he brought them out to us). He then strode off saying he would eat them himself. Personally I have never come across such a horrendously bad attitude as a customer before and whatever there food is like on a good day this is one place we will never visit again or recommend. Shame because the pint of black sheep was very good.

Lovely surroundings and a great atmosphere. The staff always make you feel welcome and the food is excellent. Perfect restaurant for any occasion and is fabulous on a sunny day/evening for eating Al Fresco.

This is a fab little place, great value food - the box meals are amazing, you get your own TV dinner style box with little compartments of dipping sauce, rice, tempura (delicious), salad and whatever your main course is for about £12. I'm vegetarian and I love it as they have 'fake chicken' which appears to be a type of quite tough tofu, I'm making it sound weird but it's really yummy, loads of just vegetable type dishes as well if you don't like the fake meat substitutes. The only bug bear is that you can't book a table so if you are going on a weekend make sure you arrive with about 1 hours notice of when you want to eat as you will have to wait. The service can also be a little bit slow so be prepared to wait when they are busy

Last week my family and I came for just a snack at this quiet joint. Not knowing what we should order, being spoilt for choice, we were given a wonderful run through by Minal, the daughter -in - law, of the new items such as mushroom bhajias in rich batter, Gujarati street snacks and why we should eat steamed dhokras as a health item. All in an untiring and enthusiastic manner, fresh superlatives, just as the ingredients, and we ended up with a sumptuous meal of varied and many items. Really were made to feel welcome - just as my mama would do so and serve me. I cannot stop not coming here, it is infectious.

The Cross Keys is a taste of the countryside brought to the city centre. Cosy nooks, original beams and exposed brickwork all add to the character of this well cared for pub. Their drinks selection is varied and interesting, Yorkshire ales and bottled beers from around the world. But their real secret weapon is their wonderful food. Fresh British ingredients, unusual dishes and excellent cooking make dining at The Cross Keys a really enjoyable experience. I couldn't be more impressed and will be making the short journey out of town a regular part of my week. Love it!

We visited the Prashad as a party of five on the eve of my wife's birthday. I have been to quite a lot of similar establishments in my life and I can honestly say the food here was some of the best of its type I have ever eaten. I realised we were going to be in for a treat when the pickle tray arrived, and the poppadoms were very cleverly done in the shape of flowers! But it was about much more than visual presentation. When I tasted the lime and chilli pickle, I realised that they had done something to the limes to pre-cook or soften them, so you don't get that chewy lump of lime in the chilli sauce like you do in some other places. The pickles were obviously individually made instead of being spooned out of catering tins, as well. This sort of attention to detail was also manifest in the rest of the food. For starter I had the sliced aubergine dish, fried in some kind of batter, and again I was actively surprised by the subtlety of the flavours. My main was a black eyed bean curry which I can say was truly excellent, over perfectly cooked pilau rice. We had originally booked there because my wife is vegan and had been searching on the net for likely establishments for her birthday meal. I myself am vegetarian, and the remainder of our party are normally carnivores, but nobody expressed any regret at not having meat, all of the dishes we ordered were received and devoured by us with enthusiasm. My wife had the lentil and zucchini dish, and others in our party had the Vegetable Handi, Chole, and the Hara Bara Burger. The restaurant itself is basic and unpretentious, quite small, with one mirrored wall, but then you don't need flocked wallpaper, rubber plants and pictures of Rajahs riding elephants when you can cook like that. If you are the sort of person who wants a really hot curry that will knock your socks off and bring you out in a sweat, you would probably still enjoy the Prashad, but truly, I recommend going there for the subtlety and the variety of the food. I daresay if you did want them to make you the sort of curry that takes the top of your head off, they could do that too. In fact many of their dishes and sauces are "slow burners" that creep up on you! Parking is on street outside, we managed to park just across the road. Access is via three relatively shallow steps, I managed with my bad knee to negotiate it both ways, with the assistance of my companions, though the staff were more than willing to help.

Another excellent meal at Giorgio's. Friendly staff and service just right - not too intrusive. Fast becoming a favourite.

talk of the town fish and chips are best in Yorkshire, haven't found anyone yet to beat them, please keep frying.

NO RECOMENDATION, cold, no atmosphere, rude staff, food was ok, won't be returning, not a hope of becoming the new Bella Napoli. RUBBISH

What a pleasure to be able to go to the Pickburn Arms and enjoy a quality meal in very pleasant surroundings with excellent service provided by Sam and Mark and staff.They have only been in charge a few months but what a change they have made, the car park is nearly always full when it used to be nearly always empty and what a great menu, something for everybody and at very reasonable prices AND good handpulled beers, what more could you ask for ? The other plus factor is that it is only a couple of minutes drive from Brodsworth Hall which is well worth a visit, by the time you have walked round the hall and gardens at Brodsworth you will be ready for a meal at the Pickburn. Perfect ! !
