Akbars – Leeds City CentreI went on a Thursday evening and the place was full, so I was a bit apprehensive to stay, but the staff are extremely reassuring and pleasant and they bent over backwards to accommodate us! A great start - we tried a bottle of house wine which was perfectly chilled! However, the food was the star of the show, truly beautiful dishes with real ingredients and great value! I will be returning to this place for my birthday!
I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A VISIT TO THIS RESTAURANT. WHY? BECAUSE MY WIFE AND I CALLED IN THERE LAST NIGHT FOR A "SITDOWN" MEAL, AND WHEN IT DID ARRIVE, IT WAS TERRIBLE. WHY? FIRST COURSE DIPS-- POPADUMS OK, BUT THE DIPS WERE PROBABLY A DAY OR TWO OLD. THE MANGO WAS STUCK TO THE CONTAINER. STARTER, ONION BHAJI. GREAT LUMPS OF ONION WRAPPED IN BATTER THAT HADN'T BEEN LEFT TO COOK LONG ENOUGH AS IT WAS STILL UNDER DONE. FISH PAKORA, JUST THE SAME. THEN A WAIT OF NEARLY 20MINS ( THERE WAS ONLY THE TWO OF US IN AT THE TIME) MAIN COURSE. WIFES MURGH MAKHANA. ARRIVED ON A COLD PLATE WITHOUT ANY FRESHSALAD OR MINT SAUCE. MY MAINCOURSE. MIXED BIRIANI WITH CHICKEN.MEAT AND PRAWNS. WITH VINDERLOO SAUCE! WHEN IT ARRIVED IT WAS ON A VERY COLD PLATE WITHOUT ANY PRAWNS AND THE CURRY SAUCE LOOKED MORE LIKE BROWN WATER. THE FOOD WAS COLD SO I ASKED HIM TO HEAT IT UP AND THICKEN THE SAUCE. I LOOKED THROUGH THE KITCHEN DOOR TO SEE WHATWAS GOING ON AND TO MY UTTER AMAZEMENT SAW TWO VERY YOUNG LADS ARRANGING FOOD ON PLATES WITH THERE HANDS. AND THE KITCHEN LOOKEDAS IF A BOMB HAD GONE OFF IN THERE.IT WAS DISGUSTING. TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT I FELT THAT I SHOULG GET IN TOUCH WITH THE HEALTH AND SAFETY PEOPLE. WE SHALL NOT BE RETURNING BUT JUST FELT THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE WARNED.
Naseeb – BradfordGreat place for a wonderful meal, Fantastic location. Fantastic Food, cooked to perfection every time. Service is so good everyone is very friendly. We have had meals for two and meals for twenty two still the same value for money.
Sloanes Restaurant – WakefieldExceedingly poor service, this was to be a special occasion for my birthday. The food was cold on arriving at the table, this they then took back, the meal was then eaten in stages, by myself and my partner, no new vegetables arrived with the meal. We then did not have offered any deserts or coffee to follow the meal. We only got offered an apology. In a word very disappointing....
Casa Mia Coffee Shop – Chapel AllertonI was disappointed when I visited last night. while the staff were excellent the food left a lot to be desired. The mushroom starter arrived within five minutes of being ordered and had been cooked in the microwave. The pizza and pasta were not homemade and were less than average. Very disappointed
Rico’s – RoundhayI went there on the 30th of March and I liked the place. The price is cheap and the food is verrry nice!! I recommend everybody to go there ;-)
Mashriq – BradfordFood cold, tasteless and poor quality. No wonder there is a "To Let" sign outside.
Beverley Arms, The – Pontefract100% PERFECT FOOD .WONDERFUL STAFF . GREAT BEER . TOP PUB ,CANT WAIT TO GO BACK. TOP PUB .
Duke of Cumberland – CottinghamNags Head - if you want traditional, wholesome food for a good price then the Nags Head is ideal. A real pub with no frills, but a warm and friendly welcome by all bar and kitchen staff is guaranteed. there are quiz nights once a month and regular events if you want something more lively.
Nags Head – HullThe name alone says it all. The Emperor Ming stands for quality, genuineness, integrity and fairness
Emperor Ming – BridlingtonI have eaten regularly at Red Chilli since it first opened, and have been a huge fan all this time. However, I heard that they have changed chefs sometime last year (maybe in the latter half of the year). Sadly, having been back there several times in the last 6 months, I can say that I feel the food has gone downhill. For example, one of my favourite dishes "yu xiang rou si" (shredded pork cooked with bamboo shoots and mushrooms ect - I don't know it's English name on the menu!) used to be somewhat hot and gently sour, with just a touch of sweetness, but now just has a sweet sauce that tastes like a generic Cantonese or (or Shanghainese) dish from a takeaway! The duck is as good as ever, but definitely I feel several of the Sichuan dishes no longer taste very authentic (or even very good). Maybe this won't worry most people (and it needn't, necessarily) but for me, what made Red Chilli such an oasis was the fact that almost all Chinese restaurants and takeaways in the UK all sell Cantonese food - Red Chilli was the first in Leeds to sell Sichuan and Northern style Chinese food - two totally different styles of cooking. A new restaurant opened in Leeds recently called Home Town restaurant, in Vicar lane, just a few doors down from Tong Palace. It lacks the exquisite decor of Red Chilli, but the food is authentic Sichuan and Northern Chinese cuisine, and after 3 visits, I can confirm that they do it well, and the staff are really nice, friendly and helpful. I hope Red Chilli can improve its cooking again, as it's still a real destination restaurant in Leeds, and for the sake of introducing UK people to other kinds of Chinese cuisine, it's been a great ambassador. But check out both of the restaurants I've discussed here and see what you think!
Red Chilli – Leeds City CentreMe and my wife had a amazing meal at this fantastic restaurant the food was so good and service was even better we cant stop going back and considering how busy it was it shows real effort from all the staff
Mill House Restaurant – CottinghamA very pleasant atmosphere, clean and tidy dining area and very good food. The comments however directed at the soldiers in the room from the waiting staff left a lot to be desired though, racist and bordering on anti British means what had started out as a pleasant dining experience left us with a very bad taste in our mouth.
Amontola – RichmondWe go to Aagrah at Woodlands on a regular basis. The food an service are outstanding.Every effort is made to make you feel welcome. We would highly recommend it.
Aagrah Restaurant – DoncasterI have now eaten in this restaurant 3 times and on each time the food has been to the very highest order. Twice I have sat in the restaurant proper a cosy, welcoming dining room. Once was for a bar meal in the pub side of the Inn, both sides were well served with warm friendly staff. the food was a delight and the ales very welcome indeed. An excellent dining experience all in all for a very reasonable price.
Holly Hill – RichmondA very cheap and cheerful restaurant, with a good standard of food served in a tight, dated but ameable surroundings. All you can eat menu is the best value for miles around.
Tandoori Nights – RichmondFor those who recall the original Tandoori hut, you will be amazed at the transformation. It has turned into a glamorous two story restaurant with quality food and service which will not disappoint. We went last Saturday and it was very busy so make sure you make a reservation. We were greeted politely and were shown to our table without delay. service was good although our only complaint is we did not receive the Lassi we ordered. The food is excellent and we can recommend the lamb chops handi on the specials list of the menu. Portion are generous and if you are hungry you can order the large naan as an accompaniment to your delicious curry. We have been numerous time since it opened and have never been disappointed. We took some Curry Club guests this time and they we very impressed with their experience. We give the restaurant a DLCC rating of 8.5/10
