Kc Newcastle Upon Tyne

I travel to Liverpool regularly on business and came across Villa Romana whilst wandering around the city. The food and service is excellent as is the price. The restaurant is deceivingly large and can cater for large groups either upstairs or downstairs. I have visited the restaurant about 15 times now and have never been less than impressed with the food

We visited La Tasca on Monday night prior to the theatre, on arrival we waited an age to be seated even though the restaurant was not busy. once seated we were pestered by flies! The waiter was a miserable so and so, and just about managed a grunt of a welcome! We ordered a bottle of the house red which tasted like domestos, it was undrinkable and sent back. The tapas was served with another grunt but was very nice. We did intend to have dessert but as the waiter had other things to occupy him self with, we did not have time. when the bill eventually arrived we had been charged for the domestos! When this was pointed out, guess what, more grunting. To top the evening off both of us ended up with Ghandi's revenge. Will we ever visit again? Not in this lifetime!!

I had wanted to try Cafe Rouge for ages after seeing their menu online and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent service, friendly staff - I couldn't say a bad word about this place. I had the baked mushroom starter, the poulet breton for main and tarte tatin for dessert. All three courses were delicious. I would definitely go back.

We had a lovely meal here one evening but we arrived quite late and it was emptying out by 9pm and so we felt like we ought to leave although is was so early. However, I love Japanese food and this place was fabulous, excellent food, service and decor was lovely, would definitely go again.

Had a lovely meal at this restaurant on Monday night. Shared tapas with a friend and couldn't finish the food, there was so much delivered to the table. Attentive staff, without being intrusive and a calm, friendly atmosphere. Really relaxed during my stay and will definitely be going again. Already told many friends about the place.

We visited the Monro on Sunday 7th September and we were very disappointed, we had been several times and always found the service and food very good....however whilst we received our starter and waiting an extra 50 minutes for the main meal - other diners had received all of their courses including coffees and bills....when we asked where our starter was we were told- chef said 5 mins! after 15 mins(in total 50 mins) we received our main....the chicken dishes were just about cooked and I left mine because I was concerned about the colour of the chicken....when I paid the bill I raised my concerns about waiting so long and was told that the chef wouldn't have forgotten us and not given any other explanation....we paid £60 for a very poor meal and service...we were going to book the monro for my son's birthday but not now....we won't be going back

this really isn't a recommendation I'm afraid. we went to this restaurant with high expectations, the place was great, the location very nice, the people and service excellent and the menu looked brilliant, then the food actually came out!! the steak fillet was burnt and that was the only thing on the plate and this did not come with anything else, so please order sides with your dish's and for just under £20.00 for a plate with a burnt small piece of meat in the middle and no other taste apart from charcoal so order drinks. my partner had the 'half of lobster' and being realistic i just thought this was a oversized shrimp on her plate, but to be fair this was very very tasty indeed. far to pricey for the food produced. in the end we left and went to go and find another restaurant to make us full (we are average sized people, bordering on skinny.) all in all i have had better meals at a brewsters for nearly %70 of the cost. i just think this place is here to rip off the tourist.

Visited the Mayur as part of a party of nine last night and had a mixed experience. As almost everyone has stated, the food is excellent. The default dishes aren't very hot, but are very tasty and are made up with some great cuts of meat. Any dish on the menu can be 'fired-up' upon request for those of you who enjoy torturing rather than tantalising your tastebuds. The problem was the service. Every round of drinks had to be asked for twice and took a minimum of ten minutes to arrive. The host even joked about 'going outside to catch' a bottle of Cobra beer - not good! It also took the staff an hour to take our order. In contrast to the waiters - who were nowhere to be seen. the host wouldn't leave us alone and insisted on giving us his opinion of each and every dish that we were eating. I found this irritating - I'd come to enjoy the company of my friends, not to hear that the seabass goes really well with a big mug of tea. So all-in-all a frustrating visit. Will I go back simply because the food was so good?...good question. If the menu was of a similar price to other Indian restaurants in the city then definitely, but the higher prices and poor service makes me err on the side of staying away.

Visited on Saturday for my birthday. The view is spectacular and with food & service to match it really is a special occasion venue.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant the food is amazing we have been eating in mei mei for quite some time now as my brother was the person who introduced us to this place and he eats there every weekend for the dim sum menus, especially if you ask for their own in chinese. The chinese tea is the best ever, the crispy belly pork is a must either hot or cold. The staff are great and they will explain all their foods to you.
