The pub stands all alone on a busy road and I was a little dubious about taking my Mum in for lunch. It was a little rundown inside but only added to its' charm. There was a surprisingly extensive and sophisticated menu. We both plumped for Scaborough cod in beer batter with maris piper chips, homemade mushy peas, samphire and lime tatare sauce. Absolutely fabulous! and very reasonably priced. I look forward to future visits to explore their menu.

I visited here with a party of 6 for my Mothers birthday recently and was thoroughly impressed. Not being the biggest fan of Indian food, I was apprehensive, but that soon disappeared when I sampled my starter. All food, service, decor and price were excellent and delivered by an exceptionally professional staff. Top marks for the Mayur gang! I shall definitely be eating here again and have recommended it to everyone I know. P.S. try the Saffron Martini cocktail!

This is an outstanding place to eat. We we in a party of 14 and opted for the early evening set menu - it was flawless. Often, set meals can be disappointing, but this was certainly NOT the case here! Every mouthful was utterly divine and everyone was raving about the sheer quality of the food on offer. Staff were amazing - the service was exceptional without being obsequious or obtrusive - water / wine / bread constantly offered. Wow. I have been here a couple of times before and been amazed by it on each occasion. As for the 'battle' between here and the London Carriage Works - both are fab and it's great to see such quality in Liverpool; we need more restaurants of this calibre in the city.

Kimos Cafe in Liverpool has a lot to learn in the way of serving food. As they seem incapable of listening to customers face-to-face I thought I would take the time to spell it out. Food should be hot - not like the baked potatoes, which come half-cooked from the microwave with dry stone-cold fillings and a clump of mayo to help you choke it down. Service should be friendly - not reminiscent of a bull-dog chewing a wasp, which is how they respond to customers who send inedible food back. Chef’s should listen to complaints - not ignore feedback from customers. The two chefs would do well to taste the poor quality of their kitchen to remind them of how much they have to learn, should they care enough. Me and my girlfriend were refused replacement meals or a refund, and therefore had to leave without eating our meals. I am amazed that anyone continues to put up with the awful fare and snarling service this cafe dishes up.

Been to both the restaurant and Bistro in the last month- both have excellent service and food, and in my opinion far better than the more expensive London Carriage Works. Definitely recommend. A good, varied and competitively priced menu - lovely ambience.

what a place if there is a better eatery in Liverpool can someone please tell me where amazing value and the food, well go try it for yourself

My favourite restaurant in Liverpool! The food is always gorgeous and the staff are lovely. Love the pink decor and intimate atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic evening.

Views were amazing (we went around twilight and saw the city change from day to dark), the food was equally memorable - exactly as delicious as I imagined 'haute cuisine' to be! The service was a bit formal but made great efforts. Worth the high price !

I have never been so let down by a restaurant in my entire life. The promise of this place was spectacular. It promised something different, something innovative and some fresh, modern interior and culinary ideas. This however is exactly the reason we should never judge a book by its cover. We chose to eat there on a busy Saturday afternoon and we were sat in the dark so the menu was barely visible. It took 15 minutes for somebody to come over and take our drinks order and then another 15 minutes before we got them. Then we ordered our food (really basic food salads, burgers etc) and that took 45 minutes to arrive. The food at best was average. Nothing special at all. My fiancee ordered a beef salad and it was appalling. The beef was raw!! She was expecting it nice and pink but this was still still mooing in a field somewhere. It was cold, rubbery and smelled like a butchers mincer. However, when we complained we were told by a very grumpy, unfriendly member of staff that they accept no returns and that was how the salad was meant to be. Now call me old fashioned but in another restaurant had the dish not been cooked to my liking they would have taken it back, done something about it and apologised. Not here. We didn't even receive an apology. Afterwards we were treated like vermin. When the waitress (which I might add, was a different waiter/waitress every time. Loads of staff but what were they doing?!) came to collect our plates she was rude and scowling at us as though we'd ruined her day. I have never felt so disgusted at restaurant staff, ever! When we paid they refused to take it off the bill and never said thank-you or anything and then had the blatant cheek to ask if we would like to leave a tip!! I would never set foot in here again and I sincerely hope they take a good look at how they treat their customers in the future.

Liverpool has now caught up to the rest of the world with this fabulous little place.. Just what we needed, food is very authentic Japanese style and was very fresh.. I will be frequenting here a lot from now on.. 10/10 say no more... MP

Well, Liverpool 2008....Capital of Culture... Never mind that, I have found the Centre of Culture in our great city that will last well beyond 2008....a place where great dining, great company and music meet in The Philharmonic Quarter (as I like to call it!). Being less than 200 yards away from The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, The Quarter welcomes you like an old friend who has never been away offering great food...at a great price...in a fab location! We only discovered the place recently, after a tip-off from one of our friends, who used the facilities prior to their night out at the Phil (thanks...!). We are regulars at The Phil and now use this as our starting point for every gig....! The Quarter - a place to enjoy Friends, Food & Fine Wine! Well done The Quarter! See you once again on the 20th July before Last Night of The Proms concert at The Phil. Our words of recommendation seem to be spreading with our friends as we have reserved a table of 8! Sorry but this is not a recommendation. My wife was not happy with her main course, the service was poor and in my case the cheeseboard containing Italian cheeses did not have any Italian cheese on it. Again sorry but i must tell the truth

My friends and I chose to eat at Bistro Jacques for the first time last night and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very good. The staff were efficient, polite and easy going. We shall certainly return and have no hesitation in recommending Bistro Jacques. We shall return!

Enjoyed a lovely evening in Piccolinos . We had the goats cheese starter absolutely gorgeous .Looking forward to going back as soon as possible .

Although the food, as many others say, was a delight the service, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. To be seated and to order and then between each course we had to wait for up to 20 minutes and on each occasion we had to attract the eye of a waiter, as not once did anybody come near, to either ask to see the menu, order our next course ot to seek more drinks. I would suggest that if the restaurant wishes to achieve the accolade of a Michelin star, as many experts suggest, then it will have to a great deal more in the service department.
