Ramsey Campbell

Staff very friendly and helpful, food delicious. We especially liked the pork with almond milk and the chorizo in red wine. A fine addition to the area, and we'll certainly be going back. There's also a very tempting delicatessen.

One word "Horrendous". I got severed quicker than I would in McDonalds. Food was appalling and the salad was going brown. Not fresh at all! Gordon Ramsey would have a field day in this place. Meat was dry as if it had been on the grill all day and only the sauces disguised that fact! Avoid at all costs. Very disappointing service too. DREADFUL to be exact.

Finding myself in southport tonight, popped into Volares on Lord st, what a nice place !small, friendly and family owned and run. owner is the chef ! and really good food. Had Sicilian fish soup which was as nice as I have ever had, piquant and choc full of mussells. and a really good pizza with parmesan, rocket, parma ham and tiny tomatoes, it was enormous and I ended up taking half home for supper. Prices are very reasonable, 2 courses for about £13 and 3 for £15 ish , splendid value, will go again next week with the family

Went to Mei Mei for my birthday meal last night. Totally DISAPPOINTED. Had to search for tiny strips of meat and 3 prawns. My boyfriend ordered special chow mein with was anything but, it had no taste of any description!! Can't believe people have stated this is one of the best Chinese in Liverpool!!!

Ate in Lunya on Sunday. I believe that they had only been open for two days. The food was excellent, the staff were excellent. The owner obviously has a real passion for Spain and even throws in a Liverpool twist. We ate off the tapas menu- We had the best razor clams we have ever eaten, oxtail croquettes with horseradish cream, squid in cains beer batter and potato bravos....All to an excellent standard. WELL DONE LUNYA - WORTH A VISIST !

Gusto Heswall has not failed to impress yet! Have visited a few times now and have always had excellent service and food. Great for a casual meal as well as a celebration! Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Just opened. Exciting food, lovely venue, charming staff. There's obviously a passion for Spanish food - we just had a brief selection from the tapas menu, but each one was sensational. Tradition with a twist and top quality ingredients. Warm and welcoming. Looking forward to going back.

If you were to take a slight detour from the teeming student area of Liverpool that is Concert square you could be forgiven for thinking you had landed in a swanky bar in Brazil. Alma de Cuba is situated in the former St Peter's Catholic Church on Seel Street right in the heart of Liverpool. Alma boasts a versatile night where they serve food and drinks of all kinds with a Hispanic, Latin American and Cuban combined influence. On entering this spectacular hot spot you do not have to search to discover why its so popular. In fact enter at around five to eleven on a Friday or Saturday and you can see for yourself why. This is 'carnival' and is a popular attraction for the glamorous in Liverpool where the entire bar is adorned with pink and white confetti as salsa dancers entertain at the front of the old alter. The bar area is lavishly decorated and situated beneath a giant chandelier. What's even more impressive and a tad surprising is that the drinks are reasonably priced and the food even more so. The restaurant is positioned above the bar and has an intimate feel, featuring beamed ceilings and rich red velvet decoration all with the underlying influences from the old Church. You can sip a cocktail from their extensive range and perhaps even sneak a peek at the odd celebrity or five. It is not a bar to be missed when out in Liverpool and a perfect place to party in style.

Myself and a couple of friends went here a couple of weeks ago, I used to go to the Metquarter Cafe Rouge quite a lot. So I ordered the crab salad, and after waiting about 30 minutes for it (a salad!!!) I thoroughly enjoyed about 2 mouthfuls of it....until I found a long blonde hair between the salad leaves (and I am a dark brunette, btw) so I let the waitress know, who swiped it from me and took it into the kitchen, so I sat there waiting for about 20 minutes while my friends are munching away wondering if I am getting a meal at all, also all the waitresses and the manager refused to even look at me. So when my friends had finished their meal, without having anything to eat, I asked for the bill...wondering if they were going to make me pay for the meal I hadn't had! So when the bill came I noticed they had discounted my meal, meanwhile I was starving and had the best parts of half a bottle of wine because I hadn't eaten anything. I think their manner very rude and they should be able to handle a complaint, instead of just ignoring customers. Since then I have avoided the Cafe Rouge and seriously doubt I will be going here again.
