I took my daughter for our evening meal there whilst on holiday in April 2008. This place is absolutely outstanding in every respect; cannot be faulted. The place oozes quality. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Service first class. Staff very pleasant and smartly turned out. Everything (including toilets) spotless. Lovely atmosphere. Very highly recommended; a must to visit.

I love Malmaison chain, the decor, the opulence the feeling of all embracing intimacy- so i was looking forward to eating in the Brasserie in the new Liverpool Malamison. I was sadly, slightly disappointed. Booking was fine and was accommodated for 7.45pm. We had a drink in the bar first, who passed the bill on to the restaurant so we could carry our drinks through to the brasserie. Seating was a little low at the table, but comfortable. My dining partner was seated in a corner next to a brick wall which left her a little limited for people watching! Starters were very nice, risotto and crispy duck pancakes. Mains of steak frites and swordfish were chosen. I had the swordfish with Mediterranean veg- the fish was over cooked slightly and the veg- sparse at best. I was told the steak was fine. Dessert was apple, pear and bramble crumble which was delicious. Choice from the menu would cover most tastes but was a little unadventurous, perhaps a bit more variety would be better. Service initially was good but as the brasserie got busier, tailed off a little, waiting 30 mins after being given dessert menu to receiving dessert was frustrating. The bill was wrong when it eventually arrived, overcharged by £35, and included a discretionary 10% service charge. After the bill was corrected we were further delayed in attempting to pay for it. These last few point although not major did add a rather bitter note to what had been a perfectly pleasant dining experience. Surroundings 7/10 Menu choice 6/10 Food 6.5/10 Service 5/10 Price 5/10 I'd go again, but would advise an earlier dining time when the staff may be able to cope with the number of people in the place.

I have dined there before with workmates and often we get the excellent salt and pepper squid but this evening I went to Jumbo City with some friends from out of the City. We decided to order the 'set menu A' for four. The staff were friendly and there was no problem changing the soup from the advertised Won Ton to chicken and sweetcorn. The soup was served piping hot and was very tasty. Next came the spring rolls and ribs which were absolutely delicious. We had quite a wait until the main courses were served as the restaurant was quite busy but it was worth the wait. The egg fried rice was served and no fewer than five dishes brought out for us to share all of which were cooked to perfection. At £52 for four (£13 a head) the meal could not really be classed as expensive My only complaint, if it could be called a complaint, was that there was so much food myself and my guests could not eat it all and even this was not a problem as the staff were happy to 'box up'what could not be consumed so we could take it home. In my opinion Jumbo City is the top chinese restaurant in Liverpool and well worth a visit. After this visit my guests were of the same opinion.

This restaurant is phenomenal. The food is out of this world, really good value for money, fantastic quality, and for all the males in our family massive portions. The early bird menu is really good value. We regularly go for family occasions but is equally suited to a meal for 2. Just be careful your eyes aren't bigger than your stomachs!!! The staff are brilliant, so helpful and chatty, and know to leave you be when needed. Would recommend to all

I can only repeat and emphasise the positive comments from other diners. This was my 1st visit on Saturday 12th April for a friend's 40th Birthday. All of our group without exception, thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, atmosphere and all round good feeling about this place. You will not be disappointed, but remember to book in advance, even in you want to dine here midweek. I will be going back very soon.... A++++++

Me and my family have been going to Rui's for many years and we just keep coming back. Its a little hidden gem, Dont be put off by appearance from outside, it is a small restaurant but is always busy, the staff are lovely the food is delicious. I have been to many countries and fantastic restaurants and Rui's is on top par with them all. Try the pollo alla crema, you wont regret it!

visited Antonelli's last night with party of three. Service was ok but food was disappointing - very bland and greasy. Vegetables were cold and rock hard. Bit of concern that the desert trolley with uncovered/unchilled fresh cakes sat in the main dining room - is this hygienic?

This is a really special restaurant. The service from all the staff is exemplary. The food - well it just speaks for itself. Although it is a large room, it is nicely furnished and decorated, with some interesting art, that changes periodically. The menu is a rich mix of traditional favourites - Chicken Tikka masala, lamb Rogan Josh and the like, to some really exciting departures involving duck, monkfish and tuna. The staff will help you to decide and offer all sorts of 'off menu' variations of you are struggling / willing to experiment. The side dishes are well worth trying. There is a fairly extensive wine menu which is reasonably priced.

Spent a lovely weekend in liverpool attracted to the cultural year and was recommend to go to Surfers by our lovely Guest House (peel hay) Host Ken. The atmosphere at Surfers was lively crossing the generations whilst still attracting a large number of young people wanting a romantic night out. The night we went the owner Jane had launched the new eating concept of "the hot rock" (a super heated piece of granite where the meat arrives at your table ready for you to cook en place). My over all impression was that this was generally a great idea but perhaps slightly novel and I would need to be convinced by the demonstration of an artful waiter that there was something more to it. The roast lamb did taste very succulent and I enjoyed being able to cook the meat as I preferred. My friend had a huge plate of ribs which seemed to have a sauced which was slightly over sweet. I did think that perhaps the restaurant could slim down the vast menu and concentrate on a key number of dishes which would allow them to do exceptionally well. The service could not be faulted and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I used to enjoy Tavern & Co but recently service has been very poor and food is always late, and often cold/incomplete. I can only speak for allerton branch but I would not recommend it.

A truly good night good food and service at a fantastic price of £10.95 for 3 course. The only criticism would be that the tables are to close together.
