Kolapata – East LondonBest steak and chips in London!!
Le Relais de Venise “L’Entrecote” – MaryleboneBest steak and chips in London!!
Le Relais de Venise “L’Entrecote” – MaryleboneI was born in Walworth and I have been using aments for over 50 years. I now live in teddington in Middlesex. i often go up to Walworth road for old times sake and i always call in arments. my son and daughter and 3 grandsons always go to arments when in town.
Arments – South LondonI had the pre-theatre menu which was a bargain at £12.50 for two courses, a glass of wine and a coffee. very nice and would recommend
Mon Plaisir – Holbornprobably the cheapest restaurant on brick lane, good food, good value.
Sheraz – East LondonPolanka is a fantastic restaurant. The food is good quality, freshly cooked and just much more tastier than English which everyone knows - is just too simple!
Polanka – HammersmithThe bridge to china town has many Chinese for everyone's style of food. It also is an halal restaurant. I recommend the mixed starter because it has seaweed, prawn toast, spring roll & deep fried chicken wings. I also recommend the sweet & sour prawns and King prawn chow mien.
Bridge To China Town, The – South LondonThis restaurant is absolutely fantastic!!!
Battersea Grill – South LondonWhat can I say...without a doubt the best Thai food I have ever had outside Thailand! The variety of dishes is extensive and they're all equally priced at £6, regardless of whether you have a vegetarian dish (why would you?) or king prawns. Having travelled extensively in Thailand I can safely say that these guys serve it up as authentic as it gets and, as you would expect from the Thais, it's always served with a smile. Great food, great prices, great ambience...what more can you ask for?
Churchill Thai Kitchen – KensingtonPortal looks like a small venue until you step inside - it opens out to a gigantic glass conservatory filled with impeccably-dressed tables. Despite the large scale, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, the owner Antonio always has time to greet us as we arrive. The menu's not overpriced - the seafood is the freshest I've found this far inland - try the squid, prawn and chorizo skewers on lemon rice and the custard tartlets are an exquisite dessert. Worth the extra dollar for a top notch city lunch!
Portal Restaurant and Bar, The – CityThis is an excellent Iranian/Afghan restaurant. It has a nice decor and it has very clean which can't always be said about some other Persian restaurants in London. The service is good and the staff very friendly. The food is delicious and the atmosphere just great on Friday and Saturday night with the live music. You get great value for money in this place. Last week I went to the famous Shehrezade restaurant in Kensington after quite sometime and it reminded me why I haven't been there for such a long time. Ok the decor and location and place is five stars and nothing compared to Ariana but the service, food and prices are just 1 star. We had to wait to get a table, then the service was terrible, the waitress was keep forgetting to bring something or the other, including forgetting the cattery, sometime that anyone with a basic waiting training should get right? There was three of us, we mostly went for the music, didn't eat much a got charged a small fortune, just the service charge was £15 which was a joke compared to the level of service. The food was not up to standard and disappointing. Then the following week I went to Ariana and what a surprise, the location I must admit is a bit run down but when you do make it inside Ariana, then you do enter a little word of good food, good service and good music and atmosphere and you can eat as much as you want too without breaking the bank. Conclusion: Shehrezade restaurant of Kensington = 1 Star * Ariana restaurant of Bourne Terrace = 5 Star *****
Ariana – Bayswater and PaddingtonThis was just as we expected. We ate on a Saturday lunch, at which they provide a good value 3 courses for £25. The food was really quite good and the service was excellent. There was a choice of 6 starters and 6 main courses, with 6 desserts and cheese and biscuits to follow. Although the food is good value, the drink is expensive, this is where you will spend money. Would definitely recommend it.
Savoy Grill – StrandQuality traditional food made with fresh seasonal ingredients. A delightful lunch experience in quiet surroundings. It's almost a club atmosphere.
Greens – WestminsterThis has to be the best sushi I've had in London! I've tried upmarket restaurants that charge a small fortune and sketchy "finds" recommended mostly by friends, well, this place is somewhere in between atmosphere-wise but the food is delicious. The nigiri tasted excellent and I think that's the real test for any sushi place.
Bento Cafe – Camden TownI read a review of "Spices" on the internet last Friday and me and my GF thought we would give it a try that evening. I tell you now without any exaggeration that the food and service is the best i have experienced in an Indian restaurant. I lived in the East End for many years and have eaten in well over 30 different Indian Restaurants. The service from Ali was first class, the advice, care and attention was perfect - if only more places could be like this!!! The food was absolutely delicious - every mouthful was exquisite. I will be returning with friends and family. Note its BYO booze too so the bill ends up as practically nothing. I cant recommend this place enough!! Ali your a legend - see you soon - Shane and Leah!!!
Spices – IslingtonThis is mainly a City lunchtime place which stands out because of the fantastically fresh ingredients; which are all prepared freshly on the premises. The food is great value given the quality. Reasonably priced and well selected wines too.
Hilliard – CityI WAS IN CANTALOUPE FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST WEEK. I had a great time! food was really good ( had a selection of tapas with my girlfriend) the sofa area at the back was comfy and inviting, and I found the service smiley and helpful. What a cool place!
