My husband and I ate here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, it was fabulous, make sure your hungry as there's lots to eat. Don't be put off if the bar downstairs is quiet as there's plenty of atmosphere upstairs.

Our Daughter left for Birmingham University last week and so we joined her in her new city of residence for a farewell meal. The San Carlo in Manchester was a favourite of hers and since it was a special occasion we agreed to give the Birmingham restaurant a try. Having not visited the city in over 10 years, google maps was needed to ensure we didn’t get lost. The city has changed a lot since when I was here last and San Carlo was a 5 minute walk from the central station. Once inside, the restaurant was much different in design, but was no less luxurious. Amy ate Spaghetti Bolognaise as usual. The food was just as tasty as Manchester, hopefully the rest of the city will treat her well in her 3 years there.

A big party of us ate here last month for a birthday and we had a good time. The live band downstairs was a touch OTT as we couldn't really hear each other speak and you do get a ridiculous amount of food.. so make sure you're hungry before you go.

The most authentic Japanese food I've had in Manchester (and I lived in Japan for 5 years). Highly recommended.

we visited Ciao Bella last Friday on a wim basis and as a change from China Town. Both of us were extremely taken back by the friendly staff and the quality of the food.... My favourite restaurant in Manchester used to be Alberts Shed I can now say that Ciao Bella tops their very high standards and has become our top restaurant in Manchester. I would recommend that anyone gives this restaurant a chance as you wont be disappointed...!!!!

One of my favourite restaurants in Manchester. I've been numerous times now and I plan to return again and again.

Visited the restaurant at lunch time - this is one of our worst dining experiences EVER. My husband was treated to a stainless steel bolt in his risotto !! Not only was no apology given the staff treated us disrespectfully as if this was somehow our fault. It was disappointing at how Italian hospitality and customer service was so poor - it has however made interesting conversation with all our friends and colleagues.

A group of us ate @ Zaika on July 20th, we were at the Gmex for the Manchester Furniture Show. Wow my taste buds are still tickling !!!! I have passed my business card to the owner & I have literally begged him to open a branch of Zaika in DC. The tasting/banquet menu made our lives a lot easier, can u imagine 19 gents ordering individual starters & mains...:)) Nightmare... :)) We will be back in the New Year, WELL DONE ZAIKA, its just a shame you don't deliver to the States..

As a regular customer for the past three years I have enjoyed meals at Velvet as I work within close proximity. Of late I have encountered several reasons that have lead me to decide not to return to your restaurant. These have included (in recent weeks), waiting 45 minutes for food and then being told that someone else has taken our order, when we received the order after nearly an hour, the order was not complete. On another occasion three out of four people being served and the other person in our party having to wait a further 15 minutes, and today when ringing in advance to order our food, the order we received was wrong. When going to pay for our bill by card and after several minutes of going back and forth being told that the card machine does not work. The waiter than asked the other people in our party if 'anyone else has cash' which was extremely embarrassing. As if this was not inconvenient enough I was asked to go and 'get cash back from somewhere else' to pay. When I suggested that I bring the money later in the afternoon I was told this would only be possible if I left my card details, including the security number. I was made to feel like I was refusing to pay or that my card had been declined, which was most certainly not the case. The outstanding bill was for £17, I think that the service was appalling and inappropriate for this amount, and I am certainly not going to give my security number to strangers in a restaurant. In the end I went to another bar and got cash, for which I was charged, and then the waiter did not offer me my change, for which I had to ask! I am disappointed and quiet frankly fed up with the poor customer service in your restaurant and will no longer continue to bring my custom. I would appreciate a response to this email, to assure me that someone in your team values the customer experience.

THE SHAME OF THIS COUNTRY IS ANYONE CAN WRITE ITALIAN CUISINE,WITHOUT BE ITALIAN AND NEVER EVER BEEN IN ITALY.THEY CAN BE FAKE AND SALE FAKE ITALIAN FOOD AND DONT GO IN PRISON. BUT IF YOU SALE FAKE ROLEX ? I THINK YOU FACE A PRISON. THIS HAPPEN COZ YOU BRITISH PEOPLE DONT HAVE ANY ROULES ABOUT, THAT ' S WHY MANY OF YOU IN 2010 STILL GET FOOD POISON COZ SKILL-LESS PEOPLE CAN GET THE KITCHEN WITHOUT CONTROLL,THAT 'S WHY MANY ITALIAN BUILDERS AND DRIVERS AND FARMERS STILL WORKING IN ITALIAN RESTAURANT,AND IN THIS WAY THEY ALLOWED FOREIGN PEOPLE TO THINK THEY ARE ITALIAN CHEFS,EVEN IF THEY DO NOT DISTINGUISH A SECONDO FROM SECONDINO OR MACCHERONI FROM PENNE ( LISCIE O RIGATE).

hi i dined in akbars three weeks ago as i am regular visitor there an have been 4 ages even before Manchester opened an have been to most of their branches but was disgraced when i went to what i saw. As i am a muslim i pride on going to a halal establishment. an i was totally shocked to what i saw in there i saw pork steak being served on the table behind me. which is pink meat an can't be halal in any way in our religion so i will definitely not be dining in any akbars now cause i could not eat in a place that has meat cooked there so all you muslim people i urge you to go places that serve halal meat not akbars it is a disgrace to them to let that happen
