Zouk Tea Bar – Manchester City CentreI visited Zaika a few weeks back but am writing this review belated. The environment, staff, setting, food were exceptional. Was greeted honourably and accommodated efficiently. Food and beverages were second to none and staff seem to be aware of brand values. Zaika 's really taken a turn for the better. It seem Nisar Khan, the ex manager from the closed Shimla pinks has brought flair and style to Zaika. I for one, am and will remain a regular. Well done!
Zaika – Manchester City CentreJust outside the city centre in the Northern Quarter, this venue ticks all the boxes. Relaxed chilled out atmosphere, homemade delicious Vegan food, great range of drinks & smoothies, very reasonably priced. Just make sure you leave some room for the desserts!
Earth Cafe – Northern QuarterI went here on Saturday for lunch, was told by a friend to try it and that I would be pleasantly surprised. she was correct what a lovely place. I had the duck salad for my main, the meat was very tender and the salad really really fresh. for dessert I had the chocolate brownie & Toblerone Fondant Sundae, Very sickly but soo good, all accompanied by a nice bottle of wine. Perfect if your in manchester its definitely worth a visit, you wont be disappointed. Thanks
Mud Crab at Grinch – Manchester City Centredined @ zaika on Friday night with two friends, thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The tasting/banquet menu was flavoursome & plentiful. I had the fish tikka to start, followed by Bengali prawns... Service was relaxed but efficient unlike Akbars, toilets were spotless. Will defo return & will defo recommend
Zaika – Manchester City CentreFabulous! So much food! Excellent value! Service First Class! Lovely surroundings. Thank you - we had a wonderful time at your restaurant and our friends enjoyed their meal so much they booked again whilst at the restaurant! A special thankyou to Nisar who is so eager to please his customers. Regards and good luck to all at Zaika.
Zaika – Manchester City Centrei love barburrito food. but their staff is lazy, not friendly, swears to each other front of customers, not professional, no respect to each other, especially deansgate branch.
Barburrito – Manchester City CentreWe have enjoyed our lunch in Albert's Shed last Sunday. Great menu and good price. Although the blonde lady in bright floral top was not so welcoming as expected. Overall, the service from our lovely waitress was great.
Alberts Shed – Manchester City CentreI'm afraid we seem to have had a very different experience to other recommenders on this list. Went on a Saturday night - the place half empty - and had what I can only describe as one of the most repulsive meals I have ever eaten. Anywhere. Period. The 'chicken satay' was (not joking) turkey with gravy. No sight of a peanut anywhere. Or a chicken. All the food was incredibly, almost comically salty. Vegetables tasted mildewed. Prawn toast was hard and chewy. It all tasted like it had been sitting around for several days and re-heated in the microwave. The only bearable thing we had was the crispy seaweed. Service was very friendly but not enough to salvage the experience - especially at £16 a head for starter and main. Sorry, but we won't be coming back.
New Emperor – Manchester City CentreWell recommended. the food was good, the service was good, you were not hurried, even though there were people waiting outside. good value for money, if you don't drink too much. best to book if in groups. or go about 6.30pm and you the meal etc.
Akbars – Manchester City CentreNine members of Cheshire Curry Club ate here on Thursday 1st July. We had poppadoms, followed by mixed starters and a variety of main courses including Bhuna, Jalfrezi, Chilli Chicken and Kharai. The food was excellent. With drinks the meal worked out at £25 per head. We thoroughly enjoyed the venue and will definitely be going back again. Thank you, Rajdoot, for a lovely evening.
Rajdoot Tandoori – Manchester City CentreLovely meal with great friendly service. A very relaxed atmosphere in a stylish and modern restaurant. I would definitely come again and recommend this restaurant to every food lover!!
Zouk Tea Bar – Manchester City CentreFantastic meal in Albert's, 2 for £10 is a very good value for money offer. Service was very friendly.
Alberts Shed – Manchester City Centregreat night out, steak was cooked to perfection and lemon sole was to die for. Highly recommend.
Alberts Shed – Manchester City CentreLoved our meal at Albert's in Castlefield last Saturday. Fantastic service from Kira and Christine. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Sam.
Alberts Shed – Manchester City CentreThis is an outstanding restaurants. I've been a couple of times and each time I'm not disappointed. Last time i went was yesterday (18/06/10) and the place was empty and i have no idea why!!!! Me and my friend both had the steak and chips. We had a chose of sauces, we chose pepper corn and after a VERY short wait the food arrived. IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL STEAK I'VE EVER HAD ANYWHERE! Even the chips cooked perfectly, lot of places can't do really good chips but they did. We got a huge mushroom and a whole tomato, not half a whole tomato. The meal was worth more than what i paid for it. Can i give it more than 5 stars?
English Lounge – Northern QuarterBooked one of three traditional Japanese rooms on a Wednesday evening providing privacy. Restaurant was empty at the time (Wednesday evening)but received good attention from owner and waitress. The food was very good. Ordered Sushi and Sashimi platters which my son and wife enjoyed thoroughly. I had the Appetizer platter which was great. Had the much recommended Japanese pancake which was good but not brilliant. Finished off with a couple of desserts which were very nice. Recommended.
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreA group of us went to this restaurant to celebrate a friends birthday. I was anticipating an all singing, all dancing venue at the price of £25 per person. Instead I was very disappointed with the set up. Basically you choose your sides of salads, vegetables and stews from a small buffet counter, and as you are eating, a waiter will float round with a different type of meat each time, on a skewer and carve it in front of you. This way you get to try a piece of various meats including lamb, chicken, beef, pork and prawns.... All the meats are cooked over a barbecue type grill - similar to that of a rotisserie set up. The first couple of pieces of meat tasted delicious, and the outlook was promising.... however, by the time we got the 4th piece of meat and thereafter, everything tasted extremely salty, it was like the grill chef (or rather the skewer controller) decided that there was an overspill of salt and felt that it needed to be used! I left almost half of each piece of meat offered, and my plate ended up looking like I did not touch my food! I paid for my teenage daughter (which was not discounted) and myself, and it came to over £70!! The last time I paid these prices was at a Michelin restaurant for a THREE course meal! Needless to say that the experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. The frustrating thing is that I left feeling rather unsatisfied, extremely thirsty, and a very empty pocket! Unless you like salt, I would not recommend anyone to come here... If you are willing to pay the price of over £30 which I often am, then go to a decent restaurant, that serves good quality food and get a 3 course meal!! Drinks included!
